NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS
SEPTEMBER, WEEK 4
WWE United States Championship
John Cena def. Dolph Ziggler (C) and CM Punk
The challengers made their unhappiness with the champion's actions of late well known, as Cena and Punk put their own issues aside and seemed to single out Ziggler. The disadvantage for the champion grew after Punk put Ziggler through the announce table. Ziggler continued to fight back, and with Punk put through the barricade outside the ring, the match was down to Cena and Ziggler. Cena reversed a Zig Zag and turned it into an Attitude Adjustment. Cena pinned the champion to win the match and the title.
WWE Women's Championship
AJ Lee def. Kharma (C)
With no challenger, Kharma came to the ring to defend her Women's Championship against an unknown opponent. AJ Lee answered the call, making her debut and winning the WWE Women's Championship from Kharma.
WWE Intercontinental Championship
Ryback def. The Miz (C)
The cockiness of the champion came back to bite him as The Miz dropped the Intercontinental Championship to Ryback. Miz thought he had the match put away early, but Ryback kicked out of a Skull Crushing Finale.
He attempted to walk out of the ring, seemingly content to accept a countout victory and still retain the title, but Ryback chased him down. After getting the champion back in the ring, Ryback finished him off with a Shell Shock to become the new Intercontinental Champion.
Street Fight
Stone Cold Steve Austin def. JBL
By far the most brutal match of the night, these two men took out all of their aggressions on each other, grabbing weapons from anywhere they could get their hands out. JBL even pulled out his buddy David Otunga's World Heavyweight Championship and cracked Austin in the face with it. Stunners and Powerbombs weren't enough to put each other down. The referee finally called the match after Austin hit JBL with a piledriver outside the ring, followed by an assault with the steel ring steps.
WWE Championship
The Rock (C) def. Chris Jericho
The Rock successfully retained his WWE Championship against the #1 Contender Chris Jericho. After spilling outside the ring, The Rock brought Jericho back into the ring where he finished off the challenger with a People's Elbow and a Rock Bottom.
WWE Tag Team Championship
New Age Outlawz (C) def. Team Hell No
Team Hello No went home in disappointment after an impressive run to the #1 Contendership, but the New Age Outlawz were just too much to handle as Road Dogg finished Kane off with 2 Pump Handle Slams.
WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Undertaker def. David Otunga via DQ
David Otunga brought backup in the form of Big Show to the ring with him. As soon as the match started, Otunga went straight to Big Show for protection from the Undertaker. He couldn't hide behind Big Show forever, however, and eventually had to face the Deadman in the ring. Instead of facing him head on, Otunga schemed and plotted, trying to distract the referee and use weaponry while the ref's back was turned. Undertaker was too smart, always one step ahead of Otunga. Finally, the A-Lister slid outside the ring and picked up a chair that he had hidden at ringside. As the Undertaker followed him, he cracked the Phenom in the back of the head with the chair, getting himself disqualified. Otunga feigned anger with the referee, but walked off along with Big Show, happy to still be the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
