TNA cuts back to 4 PPV's a year in 2013

TNA announces major PPV change - four events in 2013

TNA announced Thursday a major shift in PPVs for 2013.

    - TNA will cut back from 12 to four traditional Sunday night PPVs - Genesis on January 13, Lockdown on March 10, Slammiversary on June 9, and Bound for Glory on October 13.

    - TNA will air seven taped PPV specials branded "TNA Wrestling: One Night Only" that will premiere on the first Friday of each month.

The series will debut in April 2013 and continue in the months where there is not a live, Sunday night PPV.

The first two specials taped will be the “Joker’s Wild Tag Team Tournament” and “X-travaganza” PPVs, which are set to be taped this Saturday in Orlando prior to the Genesis PPV on Sunday.

    - TNA will continue producing the monthly "Unfinished Business" On-Demand series highlighting rivalries or past events.''

    - TNA president Dixie Carter commented on the decision-making process: “The Pay-Per-View industry has changed so much in the last decade. The traditional Pay-Per-View wrestling model needed to evolve and we believe this strategy will positively impact not only the Pay-Per-View events but the weekly television programming as well.”
This is good news IMO and if they can travel for these 4 PPV's that would be even better. I just think that cutting back to 6 vs. 4 would of been better, but they know better on how their PPV business works.

Themes For TNA's "One Night Only" PPV Events Revealed

The themes for the "One Night Only" PPVs will be,

    - TNA X-Travaganza, featuring the stars of the X-Division (airing in April, taping 1/13).

    - TNA Joker's Wild Tag Team Special, featuring enemies teaming and a Battle Royal final (airing in May, taping 1/13)

    - TNA Hardcore Justice 2 - ECW reunion style "hardcore" show featuring hardcore stipulation matches bringing in ECW talents.

    - TNA "10 Reunion" - Stars from the early days of TNA battling inside a Six-Sided ring.

    - TNA Knockouts Knockdown - One night Knockout tournament with the first round being all stipulation matches and the final four in a "test of their stamina" to see who the final victor is.

    - TNA International Incident - One night tournament featuring talent from " United States, India, Mexico, Ireland, Canada, Germany,
Japan & the UK" with the winner earning a TNA title shot.

    - TNA X-Division World Cup Tournament - four teams of X-Division wrestlers in a one night tournament featuring singles, tag, six man and eight man tag bouts.

    - TNA World Cup of Wrestling - Four teams, each captained by a TNA wrestler featuring a Heavyweight wrestler, a tag team and an X-Division wrestler battling in singles, tag and stipulation bouts. The finale will be a "two ring, triple chance Battle Royal."

Oh lawdy. They really are WCW. Jokers' wild tag tournament? That's going to be like random draws to form tag teams?

It sounds like Battle Bowl and World War 3 PPV's all over again. LOL!

          I, for one, am disappointed.

But that's because I knew whenever TNA had it's PPV, I was only a week until WWE's.

The first Hardcore Justice was pretty good. Tommy Dreamer vs. Raven was incredibly brutal, plus Mick Foley as guest referee was a nice wild card. Sabu vs. RVD was also a good match.

I will definitely watch Hardcore Justice 2 whenever it inevitably winds up on Youtube.

Exactly what it was. Then a battle royal with the winners.

Wait, they recorded the 1st 2 shows today but aren't airing them until April & May?

                  Seriously?

On top of that, they're airing the first one on the Friday before Wrestlemania. Makes no sense to me.

                      Also they raised the prices:

Lockdown and Slammiversary will see a price increase from $34.95 to $39.95, while Bound for Glory will be priced at $44.95.

So AJ Styles vs. CM Punk for Royal Rumble 2014?
