So, I'm a little late on this...but Del Rio is a fantastic face. Just fantastic.

Re: Raw 01/14/13 - What's up doc?
I got bored with the show halfway in and went to the gym.
I finished watched the more interesting matches there (Cena/Dolph) and then the ending promo between Rock/Punk.
I actually laughed more at The Rock this week, but I thought their altercation at the end was wort of weak and over the top fake.
I'm not trying to turn this into a discussion about wrestling being real or fake, I just thought the ending altercation looked like two girls scrapping instead of two grown men.
I'm also surprised by how many people at my gym actually care about WWE. The TV was all ready on USA when I got there.. lol.
So, is the Rock winning or losing an idication as to whether or not he's sticking around for a while ? I'd like to actually see him wrestle in a few matches instead of just cut promos every week. I guess that just adds to the truth behind what Punk says about The Rock. Punk really can stand toe to toe with him on the mic.
I also agree what Dolph gets the shaft in the win category... he deserves so much more.Last edited by AUChase; 01-15-2013, 12:41 PM.Comment

I'm not sure about wrestling on Raw, although they should do it at least once to hype up his first time wrestling on Raw in years. But I would assume he'll be doing something at EC PPVSaints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: Raw 01/14/13 - What's up doc?
I don't see why not.
If the guy is going to come back and do a few promos and wrestle for the championship right away, it wouldn't kill him to do a few matches for the fans...
All we have seen is a few promos, a girl fight, and a rock bottom on Punk..
I guess I just fall into the category that doesn't care to see the guy getting a shot at the title without doing ANYTHING recently.. I'm an Attitude Era kid and I love the Rock, but that's still how I feel about it.Comment

Re: Raw 01/14/13 - What's up doc?
Disappointing show, expected an overload of nostalgia and was pretty letdown.
On top of that disappointing to see more of the same from Ziggler/Cena, Ziggler carries Cena through a good match, Cena hits the AA and over. So tired of seeing Ziggler hit his finisher and Cena kicks out on 2 like its nothing. The WWE does a fantastic job of making one of their best performers look incredibly weak, hopefully once he cashes in he'll start getting some respect and some W's.
I'm in complete agreement with you about how Ziggler can connect with a superkick, a Zig Zag, and a top rope DDT, and Cena kicks out at 2, then Cena hits one AA, and Ziggler is out for days. Also, Big E slammed the cage door on Cena, and not 30 seconds later, Cena was racing up the top of the cage.
The worst part about this feud is that the WWE is showing Ziggler getting all the help in the world from Big E Langston, and he still can't beat Cena. How weak does that make him look?!

I have a question for the people on here...I watch Raw every week with my father (I'm 20 for those who are wondering). He's a Cena fan, and usually supports the faces, with some exceptions. I cheer for the heel's, so we have back and forth, face and heel banter...to get to my point, he really got in to the Cena match, and couldnt understand why I was so mad that Dolph got shafted, his only response being "Dolph cheated, so he shouldnt have won".

Re: Raw 01/14/13 - What's up doc?
From glancing over the thread it seems many did not like last night's show. I actually enjoyed it a lot. Sure, with this being the 20th anniversary show you could make the argument for more past stars, but with only 2 Raw's left until the Rumble that would have served little purpose.
Del Rio and Big Show's confrontation was good. Alberto has transitioned quite nicely into the face roll, while Big Show delivered a decent enough promo to further the feud into the PPV.
Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett scored a clean win of Randy Orton. Even the biggest Orton supporters can't complain about that.
We got a title change on live TV.
Punk vs. Brodus Clay was different.
Ric Flair giving his suit jacket that work is always fun.
Steel Cage match was awesome IMO. AJ stuck sitting at the top of the cage was well done. I personally have no problem with Dolph losing matches. His time is not too far away.
The Rock Concert was a bit corny, but still managed to get a few laughs out of me. Punk and him brawling at the end helped further their feud.Comment

This segment actual made the little kid in me very sad. As much as I have known it for a long time, I finally had to admit to myself after seeing that, that the:
"...stylin', profilin', limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin' n' dealin' son of a gun..."
is officially done. He can't even strut properly anymore and it just kind of made me sad.Golf: Bubba

Re: Raw 01/14/13 - What's up doc?
You beat me to it. This is exactly what I was coming in here to post. It's really bugging me how rather than using this feud to push Ziggler to that next level, they seem to be using it to push him down and build Cena up even more.

Right now they're building him as a heel that has to cheat to have a chance because his moves aren't enough only whenever he tries to cheat it blows up in his face, if you're going to give him any kind of title run it would seem like you'd want him to appear to be a threat and not a pushover.
I don't get it, Cena gains nothing from these wins and Ziggler gets made to look like a joke, I'm not even saying Cena should never beat him but Ziggler needs to win at least a little more often when they face off.

And let's not pretend like Undertaker and Austin are above showing up and getting a title match. Didn't Undertaker already beat Edge at Wrestlemania for the title after taking one of his annual Post Wrestlemania sabbaticals? Also with Punk and everybody else in the wrestling world salivating and pushing for a Punk/Austin match, would anybody really be raising a stink when Austin just showed up for his title match with Punk after not wrestling a single match since Wrestlemania 19 about 10 years ago?Comment

Or it could be you don't want to risk flushing your million buyrates for your biggest show of the year and the Rumble for a throwaway match on RAW where Rock blows out a knee or something.

I fully agree that the title should be on the best guy in the company, but for the longest time that title has meant really nothing other than a feud igniter.
Them possibly giving the belt to Rock is all about putting over Cena later on. This has been like a 2 year work. Punk on the other hand will go on and do better things probably without the title.
Your not going to get me to say I think Rock should win the belt, but it seems they are planning on using it more as a symbol of Cena getting his mojo back rather than using it as a brand for the top workhouse in the business.
IMO that belt could be used to put a guy over tremendously right now, but unfortunately the WWE has come to terms that any title is more of a work than an actual pedestal used to put guys over.
BTW this is just me spit balling. For all I know Punk could go over come Rumble time and it could be a completely different topic.Comment
