    If that wasn't sarcasm:

We get our hands up normally unless we are supposed to take a brutal shot. But it still can hurt and cause injury, especially when you take ones to your back that the chair swinger believe "Well, it's not his head, so I can go all out on this shot and not hurt him". Yeah, it has happened that way before, and it was fun times for about 3 days. Of course, the stiff clothesline/series of punches he took after that made up for it

Millennium I take it the chair shot thing is like the ring post thing.... They are both real metal and they will hurt you bad if you don't do it properly... best example Randy Orton not getting his hands up and busting his head on the post...... Am I right that will also hurt? Oh and I always wanted to know what the ring steps are made out of? Its ok if you can't answer the questions but I was just wondering.

Ring posts are easier to take than chair shots due to the fact that you have no control over if someone swings a chair the wrong way at you (either wrong side or wrong angle). But yes, either way you can get hurt, and the chairs are not made of anything different than normal high school folding chairs.

Ring steps, to the best of my knowledge, are also made out of the exact material you would think they are made out of. You know certain tool boxes that have the same sort of pattern etched into the metal as the ring steps? Yeah, heavy duty stuff. The only reason you see people lifting them so easily is, obviously, due to the fact that they are hollowed out.

I am aware that the trick to the chair head shots is to put the hands up in the way because I see it all the time. However, it seems like a lot of the time, guys DON'T do this and they end up getting clocked right on the top of the head or the forehead. I'm not just talking about Mick Foley here, but also guys that aren't hardcore style wrestlers. Shameless JR rant: OH DEAR GAWD, THERE'S A DENT IN THE CHAIR THE SIZE OF HIS HEAD, KING! THAT'S NOT RIGHT!

What I've always been curious about, though, are the superkicks. It seems like half the time when they show the replay, you can clearly see the bottom of the boot is actually connecting with the other guy's chin or throat. And where is that smacking sound coming from? If a rubber sole connects with a guy's chin for real, its not gonna make a smack, its gonna make a thud (or a break, ouch). I understand its just for dramatic effect, though. My guess is that the guy committing the kick is slapping his thigh as he's kicking. Tajiri seems to be the master of those sounds, probably because of those pleather(?) pants he wears.

The smack sound comes from smacking the thigh, so you are right. As for connection...

There are two distinct ways to take a superkick (I should know, I use one as a way to cut off hope spots in my matches). First way is to get your hand up around your neck and take the brunt of it with the palm of your hand. The other way is to trust the guy not to break your jaw. Most WWE wrestlers, and wrestlers that are familiar with one another, will not get a hand up.

For example: Let's say I have Opponent A that I have wrestled 100 times, and Opponent B that I am wrestling for the first time. I am more likely to put my hand up for Opponent B because I don't have a feel for how much to trust him, whereas I know what I am getting with Opponent A.
