So I'm not in any way saying that Lawler is doing a great job and thank God for JBL in recent weeks, but Cole is supposed to be calling the match and he's just terrible. He doesn't know the names to 3/4 of the moves guys are doing, his "vintage" tag-line is the only thing he has going for him. Other then that, the guy seriously can't call a match, isn't witty and flat out annoys the hell out of me. I think they can afford to keep Lawler and replace Cole, but I don't think they can replace just Lawler and make the commentary any better.

TL;DR - Lawler isn't great but Cole is really the one that needs to go.

He calls matches either when he wants to or gets told to it seems. It's not that he can't do it which is the frustrating thing.

Lawler has lost pretty much everything that used to make him a good colour guy. He is neither very entertaining, or interested in giving us insight into the matches. IMO Regal is the best analyst in wrestling at the moment.

Cole can be annoying but at least he isn't unbearable like he was before King's heart attack.

Hold the **** up....Bray Wyatt is Husky Harris!? Gtfo!

This gimmick is doing wonders. I dont watch nxt or follow any non Raw/Smackdown stuff. But I do remember Husky Harris and couldn't care less about him when he was tag teaming with "Axel".

They show this 1 minute promo and was immediately sucked in. He's already way more over to me as Bray Wyatt than he ever was as Husky Harris. Lol

        Nice job there.

I remember the first promo he did on FCW TV as Bray Wyatt. I was intrigued by his new gimmick but didn't expect anything like as good a promo as he gave.

At the time I believe Eli Cottonwood was his lacky (another strange dude), and he just stood out completely from how he was before.

I liked his intensity as Harris but apart from his size and speed he didn't stand out character-wise.

Now though he is legit, and he's also in better shape than he was on NXT season 2.

Lawler at least admits to being checked out and not caring anymore. He'd leave in a second if DC would hire him. Which would be just fine because he's a much better artist than commentator.

Bray Wyatt is Husky Harris? Nonononono. Husky Harris' dad is IRS. Bray Wyatt's dad was burned up in a fishing boat "accident".

As we saw on backstage fallout about 6 weeks ago IRS is still alive and well and not a burned up corpse at the bottom of the ocean. So they can't be the same.

Wyatt is also the king of the jungle.

I'll just agree to disagree with you here. I think he simply doesn't have the knowledge of moves required to call the action at a sustainable pace. You can't even understand JR these days, but the last few matches he has called were better then anything Cole has done his entire stint on Raw. Took him what, about 2 1/2 months to learn that Bryan was doing a surfboard. Anytimes Cena has somebody in a headlock on the ground it's CELARLY an STF?!? really Cole? Cole knows the moves on his movesheet he gets to study each week "The Elbow of Distain"....the everyday **** that SHOULD be common knowledge for guys in the business he is clueless about.

bah, nevermind....just going to agree to disagree and leave it at that, was already getting worked up.

I do some sim-racing commentary, and one of the things that bugs me about Cole is that he never corrects his mistakes. That is one of the most important things about broadcasting. It shows you are human and that you aren't clueless.

Calling a crossface the STF is just not paying attention for instance. I struggle to believe that after all these years he can't call the moves but maybe he can't, who knows.

If I was a wrestling commentator I would take pride in calling as many moves as I can. I don't see why Vince has this phobia. The names of wrestling holds is one of the reasons why people get into wrestling. Because it's a huge, bewildering world of Cravats, Snapmares, Suplexes and and it's awesome

Calling a hold by it's proper name adds credibility and intrigue to a match. Cole saying 'what a throw' as opposed to Regal saying 'a beautifully executed German Suplex that put him right on his head and neck' - well, you don't need to be a genius to figure out what immerses you more.

Don't watch NXT and never heard of Bray Wyatt till I saw the video promo last night and wow...loved his character. WWE is bringing in young new talent and its about time. I remember him as Huskie Harris and I liked him then but now if done right he can be huge. Both promos were good but that first one was crazy...dude is all around Gold. His mannerism /facial expressions and everything work with his character. I can see the Shield going face after a bit to feud with these guys. Maybe a Freebird/Von Eric type feud...can only wish. Really hoping WWE doesn't mess things up with these two factions.

Looking forward to Punk coming back, been enjoying AJ, Big E, Ziggler, Team Hell No and the Shied now add The Wyatt Family and I may start watching on Monday nights again.

heres a vid with Brodie, seems a little closer to his size now *Language NSFW/Kids* in front of a very small audience

It might not be the gimmick itself, but it's tied to the gimmick.

I mean since he now has a new gimmick, you think they'll call him that while he's Bray Wyatt just because it describes him?

My theory: If they say it every week, it's part of his gimmick.
