I really think this is the "bottomline" era.

Everything seems like it is done with bottom line and profit in mind. Now some will say this was always the case but it felt like the WWE rode the wave of momentum more organically and were ready to take chances based off of it.

Nowadays the WWE plays it safe. Cena as champion not necessarily because he's the most liked or popular star...but because he's the "safest" and best for business. People compare him to Hogan, Austin, and Rock but in actuality he's never been near that level...but he was always solid and made money.

Again they just trot out established guys without building characters. No initiative for them to do so. They trot out Ziggler, Bryan, Del Rio, etc. have commentators hype them up, and let them do their thing in the ring. This works somewhat because they are very good to great wrestlers, but WCW had great wrestlers from 96 to 98 and I always seemed more "into" there wrestlers because the feuds seemed more personal.
