Not really. I still remember the RAW after he turned face as the World Heavyweight champ that he called it the tag team title or something like that and just stumbled through half of the promo.

All this is an obvious angle towards a Shield face turn, given their history with Orton. At some point they attack Orton again.

Much like with Punk and Heyman, the Shield is being used as hired mercenaries. Nothing more, nothing less.
