    asking for some help

I'm not sure if I should put this in the off topic thread or if this is ok but maybe some of you guys can help me with this.

So I'm wanting to get back into watching wrestling (again) and i've further incentive as i've found a er accessible way of seeing the PPVs without killing my wallet so i'm interested in the wrestling game again.

Can you guys tell me who are the champs and what the main angles are? Since I won't know most of the roster could you tell me if they're face/heel and how fans are taking to said wrestlers.

    Thanks a bunch!

Have to agree here. WWE is the weakest Ive seen it since 1997. Mismanaged staff, Wrestlers not being utilized, very poor PPV's.

Well at least it can't get worse than this right? One of the things that have me interested in watching the product right now IS just how bad it is as i've been listening to some stuff talking very generally how poor it is.

I'm sure i'll regret this line of thinking but oh well. I will start watching next Monday.

                Re: asking for some help

Alright, STPO, here ya go. Not sure how up-to-date you are but I'm going to assume it's been a while. I'm gonna go in-depth on this just in case.

                WWE Champion: Randy Orton

Mr. Money in the Bank Orton and special guest ref HHH pulled a cash-in/screwjob on Daniel Bryan at Summerslam after he cleanly beat Cena for the title - Bryan's been the arguably the most over guy in the company with YES! chants since he lost in 18 seconds to Sheamus at Wrestlemania 28. He beat Big Show at Survivor Series (boring, we know) after a series of matches between Orton (w/HHH, Stephanie, The Shield) and Bryan, with Bryan playing the underdog who "the Authority" doesn't see fit to be the face of the WWE.

                WHC: John Cena

Had a serious elbow injury that wasn't so serious, putting over Bryan for the WWE title in August after beating the Rock (their second back-to-back WM matchup). Was slated to be out for 4-6 months but came back in two, triumphantly beating Del Rio (who has more or less been involved in the WWE/WHC title pictures for over two years) at Hell in A Cell last month.

These two are heading towards a "unification" match at TLC, which will likely end up in a screwjob or something so they can delay it to a bigger PPV.

                IC: Big E Langston

Cena's powerlifting buddy who is strong and way too swift for his size. Was Ziggler's bodyguard upon his debut (after winning the nXt title) and ended up breaking away from him and Ziggy's girlfriend AJ, turning face recently. He helped fend off Ryback and former IC champ Curtis Axel (Mr. Perfect's son) - proteges of Paul Heyman - from C.M. Punk, turning face. Won the IC title from Axel a few weeks ago, who had held it since May (beat Wade Barrett and Miz in a triple threat).

                US - Dean Ambrose

The Shield's main mic holder, well-known for being Jon Moxley on the indies. Sells great and does good promos, really has his character down and will probably be a top heel for the WWE one day. As a collective group you have him, the daredevil Seth Rollins (or Tyler Black, former ROH world champ) and the powerhouse Roman Reigns (from the huge Samoan family). They dominated in 6-man tags for over a year, beating the likes of Kane, Daniel Bryan, Ryback, Cena, Jericho, Sheamus, Orton, Big Show, etc. Eventually, Ambrose beat Kofi for the US title and Rollins/Reigns took the tag belts of Team Hell NO (dysfunctional Kane/Bryan team). Since then, their creative direction has steered from "fighting injustice" to being HHH and the Authority's henchmen. Reigns most recently dominated the opposing team (Cody Rhodes/Goldust/Rey Mysterio/Usos) at Survivor Series and seems to be in line for a mega push as the seeds are being planted for a potential breakup - they've been together since November of last year.

WWE Tag Team Champions: The Brotherhood (Cody Rhodes/Goldust)

The brothers reunited for a tag run recently, battling HHH's goons the Shield. It stemmed from HHH and Steph abusing their powers and punishing anyone who went against their plans to stop Bryan from winning the title. iirc, Cody said something regarding an Orton/Bryan match that they didn't like and was promptly made to put his career on the line against Orton (he lost). Goldust made his return to get his brother's job back but he too fell to the Vipah. They were given another chance at redemption after Dusty cut a promo on the Authority, with Dusty's job as commissioner of nXt then on the line. They defeated The Shield to get their jobs back at Battleground (new Oct. PPV) and shortly after pinned them (with the help of Authority rival Big Show) for the belts on Raw.

While the WWE has been down recently in terms of stories, the wrestling has been the best it has been since 2003-2004 episodes of Smackdown. JBL, Cole, and King have been dynamite in the announce booth as well. Three-man teams don't work well usually, but JBL has made all the difference in making me not want to watch RAW and PPVs on mute.

If I have questions i'll ask after RAW on Monday. Actually wait, are the brands "separated" like they were a few years ago or do they cross over?

They are not separated. Have not been since 2011 I believe. They used to have a split brand PPV in October called "Bragging Rights". The last WWE draft was in April 2011. Cena almost went to Smackdown but got traded back to Raw at the end.

For that reason, not as much attention has been paid to Smackdown and it really has become the B show. The WHC has been devalued and I think some have been clamoring for it to be unified for a while now.

Yea, the brand split pretty much ended without much fanfare, they started to promote RAW/Smackdown! Supershows more and more frequently and then just stopped calling it a Supershow. They are going to be unifying the WHC and the WWE Championship(oh good another Orton/Cena match ) but knowing the WWE they will have some type of screwy finish and will drag that out.

Whatever you do SPTO, don't try to sit through an episode of Raw unchecked. Do your self a favor, DVR that bad boy, watch MNF or troll the forums, then FF anytime you see commercials, Divas or The Great Khali.
