Ways to spice up your universe

I've seen a lot of posts lately(here and other places)about how Universe mode becomes stagnant and stale and people lose interest...so, I thought, why not create a thread where people can post ideas on things they've done or are planing on/thinking about doing to keep things fresh. Maybe it'll help people, maybe not, but I thought it couldn't hurt....currently here's what I'm doing, maybe you wanna try it to keep yours fresh, who knows....maybe you got some ideas for me that'll help me out when I become bored with it....

I have Raw, Smackdown and NXT. All with separate titles and PPV's(NXT only has 6 ppvs-on the months where Raw and Smackdown share). All 3 also have minor shows...eventually, once the last DLC comes out...I'm doing to expand my Universe with one more show....haven't decided if it's going to be a Legends show or an ECW, WCW or another brand and split everyone up....eventually I'll have guys retire etc adn get back to my original set up....after that, the older guys(Taker, Kane, Show, Rey etc)will all retire and I'll move some guys around...some guys from NXT to main roster etc...unify belts...then maybe expand again, who knows...anyway, try something like that if your bored....expand, collapse etc...

    Anyone else have any suggestions???

Re: Ways to spice up your universe

I have 3 main brands RAW, Impact, Smackdown that each have their own set of brand titles (main, secondary, tag, lthw, womens) and NXT which has 4 titles (main, lthw, tag, womens) I have combined current wrestlers (including downloaded guys) with originals CAWs.

Each main brand has a PPV every month. Every 3 months there is what I am calling the Championship Series PPVs. NXT has one every 3 months right after the month which holds the championship series PPVs.

The championship series PPVs are a set of PPVs where each brand has their own PPV, then at the end of the month the WORLD Titles (World, World Tag, Junior World, Womens World) are crowned (and in later months defended) where each brands individual champions face off for those belts. During the month of the Championship series PPVs each brand title must be defended 3 times. It is defended at the brand PPV against the person who wins the contenders 4way between the top 4 ranked teams. In the final week the titles will be defended against whoever is ranked #1 at that time. The third title defense can be at the GMs discretion.

Also I have free agents and use trades, free agent signings, as well as bringing guys up from NXT to help enhance my roster.

Check out my thread for my Universe.

I have the usual Raw, SD, Main Event, as well as a NXT show (download Kartik-96/SecondComing's NXT Caws from over on caws.ws, he does crazy good work, couple others did Solomon Crowe as well as American Pitbulls, and a Kalisto coming soon), also have ROH/Indy promotion with a couple TNA guys in. Stays fresh for me with all the promotions. So glad to have 100 Caw slots this year.

Put gimmicky, quirky CAWs into your midcard and push original midcard talent (Ziggler, Ambrose, Rollins, Reigns, Sandow, etc.) into the World Title picture. Have retirement matches for some of the older guys like Cena, Punk, Kane, Big Show, etc. Make it like an actual program. Write some guys off of your universe and replace them with characters of your own.

Re: Ways to spice up your universe

I haven't really dove into this year's game yet, so I don't know how WWE Universe Mode has improved and regressed over last year's version. But last year, I really hated the pre-determined stories, so what I did was ended up creating my own "cut scenes".

It wasted a match on the card, but I felt it made it productive. I would basically book a match with the win condition as "Finisher", book the people I wanted to have the "promo", and control the person who I wanted to "win" the promo, and give them finishers to start off with. Sometimes, I wanted someone to come out and clear out a stable, so I'd give him multiple finishers and make it an elimination match. Sometimes, I just wanted one person to get put in their place, so I'd just make it a one fall finisher match.

For my purposes, this replicated having someone come out, cut a promo, and then someone coming out to confront him and then have someone get a beat down. Given the Attitude Era roster, I was able to make good use of Mr. McMahon, Shane McMahon, John Laurinaitis, CAW Paul Heyman, etc.

It was really fun to play and write these feuds in my head, and it seemed to be a success on the WWE '13 Universe Mode thread as well.

For this year's game, I don't know how the rivalries work, I don't know how good the cut scenes, or ongoing stories are or aren't. So far, I feel like WWE '12 had the best Universe Mode in terms of how stories and feuds played out. BUT if I have to go back to my own manual promos, I will.

Can you do any of the above in 2k14 Universe mode? If you can, I must have missed it - or do I have to go into 'Story mode' for these features?

As far as my Universe is going, I keep it cooking by reliving classic rivalries across several eras and different brands. I'm a big WCW fan (Or was ) so Goldberg normally keeps me busy, sending him form show to show, demolishing pretty much everyone that gets in his way. (Have just reformed Evolution, so that'll add some interest)

Re: Ways to spice up your universe

I personally find that the best way to spice up the universe is wrap the game in tight nylon then take it to a strange place...pretend its not my game and then walk up to it and say "I see you looking at me like a dirty game...lets lose the false pretenses and lets go back to my place so I can get it in...the PS3"...then I take it back home rip off the nylon, Spit on it...then rub it off...turn it on...then shove it in.

As soon as the music comes on I tell it to shut up...then I play the crap out of it for 3 hours straight...when I am done. I take it out...put it in a crazy taxi game case and place $50 in it.
With a note saying...that it was too easy to play.

Trust me if you do that....your universe will be more spicy.
