If it gets bumped up to $19.99 I'll be placing a phone call and getting the subscription changed to the 6-month auto renewal.

Well I guess it is a glitch because I got an email saying thank you signing up today so I guess it auto renewed. I'll have to check my statement to make sure it stays the $9.99 I have been paying from the start

Hall and Nash were in WCW before they were Razor and Diesel in the WWF. That's what he's talking about. They were wasted before they went to WWF and became stars.

One or two guys slipping through the cracks I could understand, but those are five huge names they let get away, you could probably even add Jericho to that list but WCW was already a sinking ship when he left. I can't think of one guy that left the WWF for WCW and became a star.

It could be argued Jarrett was bigger in WCW but that's about all I could think of.

I thought of him as well, although he was nowhere near the level of the guys that became stars in WWF

I'll admit I was wrong ab Hall/Nash. But my point still stands. Some guys need to be dropped/need a new environment to reach their full potential.

And I hate that the general meme has become that WCW didn't know how to make stars, when Goldberg, DDP, Steiner, and to an extent Sting are all examples to the contrary.

And let's not act like Jericho didn't get TV time in WCW. Even in WWF he had the big debut but was midcard in short time and had to build himself up to main event status.

It will be strictly a television station distributed by Rogers, available through Rogers cable. Other cable providers in Canada will have it offered and will have to go through Rogers for the rights. The live stream will air the same as everywhere else. There will be a on-demand component, but it will have less content than the streaming network library. Exactly what will be available is not known yet. The plan is to introduce the network on the Internet at some point in 2015.

Ugh....Well I guess that'll work. I'll order it on my cable package til it goes online.

I know Canadians won't be able to access it through wwe.com like people in US(and all the countries getting it August 12th) but the whole "Sportsnet NOW and Rogers Anyplace TV" stuff is basically the same isn't it?

Sportsnet Now lets you watch the programs on Sportsnets website assuming you have sportsnet on your tv package. And the rogers anyplace tv lets you watch sportsnet stuff on all devices like tablets, phones and stuff(one of the big features of Sportsnets NHL deal) so I'd assume WWE is the same since that's advertised as part of the deal.

Guess we'll find out later on. Surprised not more info has been revealed yet seeing how it's less than 10 days until release. No info regarding amount of content, how long the free preview will last,if we'll get Summerslam for free or how much the network will cost. I'm especially hoping we'll be able to DVR stuff on TV.

I have a feeling the preview will end the minute SummerSlam goes off the air. It'll be interesting to see how it's structured and just how pared down the On Demand stuff is because THAT'S the main attraction to me.

As you say, I guess we'll find out when Aug. 12th rolls around.

Seeing how it starts August 12th, I wouldn't be surprised if the preview ended after the Raw post show.

2000 Royal Rumble was overall a good card. Some good spots with the Hardys/Dudley table match and HHH/Cactus Jack.

                            Regarding the Network:

Business site The Motley Fool calls the WWE Network's subscriber numbers "stunningly disappointing" and its launch "a disaster", whilst criticizing WWE for the "lousy job" of explaining how the over the top channel works to their fans and believes that "to avoid losing subscribers to cancellations, the company also needs to make more content available on the network". It's what a lot of us have been saying for a long time, but maybe WWE will start listening more now that the business media are also finally starting to get with it.

I don't know that I'd call 700,000 in five months disappointing or a disaster. I think they oversold expectations during the initial announcement, but that's what companies do to enhance the perception. The number itself seems fine for a new service.

I'll agree that they explained the delivery poorly and they need to make a variety of content available alongside the chronological Raw uploads.

                                WWE Network Discussion Thread

I'm no business expert at all, but isn't it normal for such a big thing to initially lose $$ before turning a profit? This network seems like a great example of it if they stick with it

I'm also curious if they should have changed the name though. The word Network seems kind of misleading for what it is for the most part.
