Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Hopefully we see more episodes of all these territorial shows over the next few months. I'd still like to see more Old School shows, too.Currently Playing:

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I got the chance to watch a couple episodes of Stampede Wrestling. Wow, what a revelation. Sure it's a bit rough around the edges but seeing a young and raw Bret Hart is pretty cool and holy crap, Junk Yard Dog could actually y'know MOVE in the ring LOL!
Ed Whalen really had a unique style and delivery to his commentary that I really liked as well. The Stampede style seems to be a cross between the style in AWA and the slow plodding boring style that was big in WWF at the time as well. In fact, I love watching the territories because you really get to see a different overall presentation and wrestling style. It's too bad that today's product is so stale with guys pretty much all working the same style with very little variation.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I watched part of Bret's did on there the other day. He had a match with Dynamite Kid from the Stampede days. It's crazy to see those guys from literally the 70's. Seeing Bret not in Pink and Black and with a curly fro just blows you away. lol

I watched the First Look of the Owen Hart DVD last night, just hearing the Owen Hart stories will make this worth buying for me. They had a hilarious story about Owen sandbagging Luger when he was tagging with The British BulldogComment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Anyone else think Jason Jordan doesn't seem so good behind the scenes on breaking ground? The awkward fake friend thing with Gable, and calling out Tyler Breeze backstage. Dont know where that came from. Breeze mentors the newer superstars/divas and seems like a cool guy, and Jordan tries calling him out for no reason after Breeze had a match and was being praised by others.Comment

I didn't thing the Gable scenes were fake but he came off as a douche when he was dealing with Breeze.Comment

WWE Network Discussion Thread
I've decided to educate myself on 80s wrestling and I need suggestions of things to watch.
I started at the obvious starting point, Wrestlemania 3, but where do I go from here?
Include WWF, World Class, NWA, whatever. Just give me some awesome old stuff to check out.
Please and thank you.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

I didnt mean it was fake. I meant Gable was talking to him about how all great teams were friends off screen and they should do that too. Then Jordans basically questioning why they need to do thatComment

I'd start with Tuesday Night Titans, then WM I (TNT has a nice build the last few weeks leading up to the event), back to TNT (I think they stopped uploading around Sept. 1985), Saturday Night's Main Event (first one aired a few months after WM I), WM II, Prime Time Wrestling (picks up right after WM II and will show you the Hogan-Andre buildup for WM III), WM III and then continue on with SNME and the PPV's.
For NWA, they just uploaded a bunch of World Championship Wrestling shows from 1985-87. Watch those.
The Mid-South stuff is really good, too, and there's a lot of NWA crossover there.
WCCW is a little scattered in terms of its content, but anything that lists the Freebirds vs. the Von Erichs, watch those episodes.Currently Playing:

I'd go back and check out everything Hogan/Piper related from around WM1. Anything Piper related honestly will be good. He was so far ahead of his time.Comment

I would say Mania 2 has the British Bulldogs vs. Valentine/Beefcake which is a good match.
Steamboat/Savage 3 at Mania is a given.
If you want to see how far Women's Wrestling (hasn't) come, watch the Jumping Bomb Angels v. Glamour Girls at the (I believe) '88 Royal Rumble for the Women's Tag Team Championship. It was also 2/3 falls match. Bonus points for McMahon just calling them "Red Angel" and "Pink Angel" saying his Japanese isn't very good.
The first Starrcade (A Flair for the Gold) had Flair/Harley Race for the title, with an added bonus of having Valentine/Piper in a pretty brutal Dog Collar match.
Starrcade '85 had Magnum TA/Tully Blanchard in an I quit match which may have been the first "I Quit" match.
Starrcade '86 had the Rock&Roll Express against Old/Arn. Some good ol' tag team action.
That's what I got off the top of my head.
If you're loking for some feuds to look up there are some obvious ones (but the events and such escape me at this time.
Dusty/Flair, obviously.
Steamboat/Flair.
Freebirds/von Erichs.
