    Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread

I would love to just turn on the network and catch random wrestling shows on their "live" channel. I feel like most of the time I turn it on the Divas, Bellas, or some original show is playing. I bought the network to watch wrestling, not these other shows. I assume I'm in the minority? Actually, I don't. Who the hell orders a wrestling network to watch talk shows and ****?

Is this the video in question?

      <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lDs0fWFIZ-o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Actually regarding the scheduling of content they're doing a helluva better job with their classic content drops and being extensive about them. The problem is they don't use the live feed like a TV network. We don't want crap "entertainment" we want actual wrestling. program days for the different tape libraries and such it might actually get people to sign up and watch more.

I want to say they did this at the beginning? The only thing that I really remember though is old-school Raws being on in the 3-5am slot. There was also more variety in the daily programming but I don't know that it ever had specific timeslots.

They must have data that shows people don't really use the live channel though because I can't see them rotating the same 3 shows for 24 hours like they do now if enough people actually watched it.

          Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread

I think it's a bit of a chicken and egg scenario that way. They never really worked hard to promote and program the live feed and when they did try it was very half hearted. They still do some things, for a stretch of 2-3 weeks on Friday nights they aired old Prime Time Wrestlings. There was also a couple months where they aired old SNMEs on Saturday but apart from that they haven't done a very good job.

If WWE is seriously cutting costs they should just eliminate the live feed and stick to their internet presence.

They did. I remember watching the live feed when getting ready for school. Then one morning it was the Bella show. Then the old wrestlers in a house reality show.

Do they know what they want The Network to be?

If they just put together a simple algorithm and took all their content and hit the equavalent of the "random play" button, I feel like I would actually watch that live feed.

Problem is I'm sure they wouldn't want kids to watch random Attitude Era episodes of Raw. Would be the end of civilization.

They have parental controls. Could they not have either/or options?

I know I'm probably nitpicking at this point but it's annoying as hell to see how awesome this thing could be but they consistently get stuck in their own way. There's no reason why The Network shouldn't be the best thing ever to a wrestling fan. All that ****ing content?

For ****'s sake: Have users fill out a quick survey when they sign up (favorite wrestlers, favorite eras, original content most interested, favorite wrestlers, favorites PPVs, etc) and stream the unique content to the user. How ****ing difficult is this?

My bad, y'all. **** just struck a nerve.

And another thing; it's the same bull**** they do in their writing. They'd rather do what they want instead of just going with who the fans follow organically.

                Aight, I'm good, now.

They're also still somehow missing something basic like selecting stream quality. I've actually had good luck with it for a while now but I'm sure we all had periods where the feed would just freeze up and/or have constant quality drops. Why can't we drop that ourselves? Back then I would've taken a consistent lower quality stream instead of it buffering as it tried to stream the highest quality possible.

The interface still sucks too, at least on PS4. So much wasted space, so much scrolling sideways to search the archives.

The website is still as slow and clunky as its ever been. Can't tell you the last time I used it.

I do like the Windows 10 app though. It loads shows quickly, rarely crashes on me, and I think it looks the best of their designs. It displays a bunch of shows without it being overwhelming and you can scroll through and find things pretty easily.

I do most of my watching on my iPad though. It's not perfect but it works well (due to the touchscreen, obviously). When I'm not on that I'm using the Windows 10 app. PS4 comes in third.

How is your internet speed? I never have any freezing or quality issues.

My internet is great (105 Mbps down) and I haven't had a Network issue in a while. Just speaking generally about something basic like choosing quality not being there 3 and a half years after launch.

Do I need it now? Nah. Would I have liked it in the first six months or so of the Network when they had a bunch of issues? Yeah. It'd probably be good now for those with low data caps.

I typically only had issues during the live PPVs. My connection and speed would be fine, but it would just decide to drop quality and/or crash at random. I suspect they just haven't built everything up enough to have 400,000 (or whatever) watch at once.

Would be nice to have a SD option to switch to to prevent that. But in their FAQ section they say they don't have the capacity to do that.

Yeah, the live channel could be awesome. I was unemployed for a while in the early days of the Network and loved watching old school Raw's every morning.

If they let me run it I'd play random PPVs and old shows. Id sprinkle in some Total Divas and Legends House as well. And maybe a marathon of Tough Enough or a day full of Royal Rumbles, or KOTR's.

They tried having old shows on their live channel but their lack of promotion certainly didn't help. I specifically remember they aired old school RAW/Nitros on Thursdays, which I'm sure was for #ThrowbackThursday since WWE is so "trendy". But like I said, they never once promoted it, I just noticed the pattern from looking at the schedule.

In other news, they have absolutely been ****ting out classic content in the past month. WWECW, WCCW, and a bunch of old school arena shows.

I'm sure they do it, but if not, they should have marathons for major ppv. Like all August up to the ppv, we have Summerslam airing on the network. So each day highlights 1-2 summerslams. And the Raws/SD before summerslams for later years too.

I used to do that for Wm. All March I'd watch top Wm matches and rtwm segments . 1 a day or so leading up to Wm.

Themes should relate to their own product too. Like if we suddenly have a LMS match announced for an October ppv, the network could then marathon all LMS matches leading up to it. I know it might be hard since they probably schedule their stuff weeks in advance, but would be nice if they could make programming flexible.

The problem with all of that is, unlike what people tend to think nowadays, WWE doesn't really embrace its past, and certainly does not embrace all of its former talent. They can be as petty and careful as they were 20 years ago. They don't want Hulk Hogan matches on their live stream. Or CM Punk, etc. It's all available for people to dig around and find, but they're not going to celebrate that stuff.

And the sort of creative programming you mention would take too much time. They would have to weed out the stuff they don't want to give attention to. Any PPV with Benoit in it would have to be left out, for example. So, to make things easier, it's Total Bellas, WWE24, WWE Countdown, etc, all day.
