    Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread

Fitting that around the time we could see Shane leave at WM this year, I'm on the part in 98 where he begins his Shane McMahon character. Not just in backstage segments or on commentary, but he brought back Stone cold.

Austin was later put in an i quit match, saying that the only way to get him out of the company is if he quit(basically what happened in 02 wasn't it?). At end of Raw, JR was celebrating what he said was Austin's new 5 year contract(meaning 03 would be his final wrestling year). Talk about strange coincidences.

Looking at WCW history around this time, it's 2 months before Goldbergs streak is over, and I'm at the first live Raw since the horrible Hogan-Warrior match in WCW. No doubt there will be shots taken at WCW during this show.

Update on WCW Saturday Night uploads - it's 50+ hours.

Also coming on Monday are collections for Andre the Giant, Finn Balor, and WrestleMania Theater...which sounds like notable matches from the last ten years with alternate camera angles. So, maybe that'll be interesting for a minute?

      Details at: http://www.wwe.com/wwe-network-2018-collections

      --

Coming in May, collections for Mickie James and the Corporate Stooges.

One of my favorite things from the 80s has to be guys using the sleeper hold to put their opponent to sleep, and then slapping them on the back of the neck to wake him up. I'm at the point where Dusty is starting to use the sleeper and the announcers just freaked out because he put a guy to sleep and didn't wake him up

There's lots of little things they don't do anymore. Some simply due to evolution of the business, others because McMahon hates "wrasslin". Nowadays it's basically just athletic superstars doing as many moves as possible dragged out. The old "3 count passout" where ref lifts a guys arm up 3 times during submission to see if he's out of it or not was another spot we used to see so often.

That moment at WrestleMania 30 where Hogan realizes he called The Superdome The Silverdome is priceless.

One thing I miss seeing is the sleeper spot where the referee lifts the guy's arms 3 times but on the third try the guy keeps his arms up at the last second.

On the Raw where Owen AND Blue Blazer were in the same place at the same time! And later in the night, Mankind gets awarded the Hardcore title! The Rock also gets arrested in this episode.

lol, McMahon was going off on everyone during one episode of Raw. He even went backstage and of all people, SHAQ was backstage, and McMahon kicked him out. This was during that 98-99 lockout. Austin gets last laugh as usual. When Raw was over, Austin got McMahon in the cage and hit him with some stunners. He then left, then came back, stole McMahons wheelchair, and left again on it.

Coolest moment for me was inside that steel cage. So often during AE, specifically with Undertaker/Kane, it shows how little things can make biggest different. Steel cage is one thing, but steel cage with the entire arena blacked out and only Kanes light on the ring, while part of cage is on fire, that makes for one awesome visual.

Survivor Series deadly games kicks off with Mankind vs....Dwayne Gill LOL. McMahon hyping up Mankinds mystery opponent so much. Impressive record, went to WCW, sidelined due to injury, but is now back. Before McMahon even mentioned anything about the opponent, fans were chanting for HBK(one person even had an HBK sign). Were there rumors of him returning?

Another funny/fitting moment that on the 17th anniversary of the McMahon-Austin moment at WM vs The Rock, I see this Survivor Series, where McMahon aligns with The Rock and first seeds of Rock-Austin feud really get planted. Now that's a big swerve! Even though I obviously knew it was coming(like most big moments I'm watching), still such a cool thing to see. Rock as underdog the entire time, looking like he's McMahons next target once Austin is out of the way, Mankind is McMahons chosen one, and then.....Screwjob and Rock is the corporate champ! Where's this type of booking today?!

Weird thing, they seem to be censoring WWF mentioning on commentary. Anyone else saying WWF is fine though. No logo blurred either. So it's like they had most of this in its original format, but forgot to change commentary back to the original. Hope this doesn't happen in later PPVs, because up to now, all WWF mentionings and logos have been fine.

Everyone was hoping HBK would return at the event, but he wasn't close to returning at that time.

I'll also add Rock/Austin feud was already a thing with the IC title the previous year.

I meant the big Rock vs Austin feud. They feud faced off before, but this one kicks off their main rivalry.

He was back as commissioner fairly soon after. I figure those were the rumblings the internet fans had gotten a hold of.
