Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Now into March 99. Show in Cleveland, could've sworn I saw a "Curry 3:16" sign lol. Obviously if it did say that, it's talking about something completely different.
They're really pushing this "Big Nasty" nickname on Paul Wight. Apparently there were never plans to actually make that his name, but given that they went with Big Show, I wonder if it really was a consideration.
Public Enemy? I've literally never heard of them before this.
The Sable/Luna/Tori feud at least has a story for women for once.
Undertaker-Kane in an inferno match on Raw! Undertaker brings in that teddy bear that breaks McMahon down. This is part of that "higher power" story right? Without spoiling(if possible), how did any of that make sense given that McMahon was the higher power?
First time I can remember hearing McMahons "YOU'RE FIRED!" in the similar style that everyone has gotten accustomed to. Of all people, it's to Kane.
JR returns for first time in months! That JR promo was crazy, first time I've seen him this mad outside of commentating! Was that a shoot? Just everything touched on in it seemed so personal and real. Mentioning people backstage being happy when Dr.Death got beat because he was "JRs boy", and how he was supposed to call the Rumble but once they saw him in his condition, they didn't want to show his face on TV.
People can say what they want about the Hardcore division, I loved the "fight anywhere" aspect of it. Even in early 99, these Snow/Road Dogg/Holly stuff have been great. My fave action on the shows.
And first sighting of the Mean Street Posse in their video hyping up Shanes toughness.
lol, McMahon comes on commentary for Taker-Mankind match, and literally seconds into it he just flat out is like "Undertaker-Bossman inside hell in a cell".Last edited by Majingir; 06-06-2018, 09:40 PM.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
On one hand, I think...why would they work a story around uploading a video?
On the other, I think...how would Conrad be able to definitely say it'll be up Friday if they're still "fighting" for the content as it is?Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
As I said in the WWE Network subreddit I had a feeling something like this would happen to Bruce and Conrad. A lot of people are speculating that they spoke too openly and honestly about Benoit so I can understand WWE trying to censor or tone down that aspect.
Eh, we'll see what happens.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
My guess is they told him they were going to edit out part of the show, he said that's stupid and hurts the show, and hopefully he won out. I know Conrad has said that being on the Network was never the goal, and he's mostly using it as exposure for the original podcast and his actual real life job.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
The episode is up and according to Bruce on Twitter it's in its entirety so it sounds like they won out. After watching it I'm not sure what any disagreement would've been over anyway.
Next week is covering AJ Styles' time in TNA.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
lol, I was watching an episode from March 99 and I saw a fan with a "Big E" sign in the crowd! Funny seeing something like that knowing there was a Big E in WWE over a decade after that.
This JR storyline is getting weird. Actually making him full Heel JR, but despite that, fans were cheering for him when he low blowed Michael Cole and said he's taking over on commentary again.
Undertaker Ministry stuff is nice to see a large group with their beatdowns. Lights just go out, Undertaker appears on the stage, and then the whole Ministry is surrounding the ring and we see a 7 on 2 attack.
He sacrifices Big Bossman, and then gets arrested

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
The build to WM15 I don't think is so great. As good as the Undertaker/Ministry stuff is, remembering that the RTWM just led to Undertaker-Bossman HIAC match is a letdown. Even looking at the card for this PPV, minus Rock vs Austin, no other match I'm really excited for. Like in 98 though, I know the summer onwards was probably the best part of the year and so many new faces.
Rock-Austin for the title, but despite that, there's been very little interaction between the two of them, and the main focus of this whole feud seems to just be on Paul Wight(who now in March is suddenly being called "The Big Show Paul Wight". They quickly dropped the Big Nasty stuff. Though a sign in the crowd made reference to Big Nasty replacing Big Sexy).
In a promo, McMahon actually called The Rock "Dwayne" on purpose. Also, Tori on the mic is so generic. Exact same voice tone for her entire promo.
This is the Raw with the Ministry going to McMahons house and Undertaker stalking "her". The police phone call was funny. McMahon trying to get the police to go over to his house and they think he's doing it as a publicity stunt. McMahon gets so mad and is like "What do you mean publicity stunt? You're watching me on TV right now...." lol. Later in the night, McMahon gets Kane to come with him to get The Undertaker, only to find out that Undertaker is dressed as Kane.
Random construction crew at ringside for first part of the show. All of that just led to JR coming out and revealing that they build him a commentators table and he just took over the show(until Hardcore Holly ruined his table). Reminded me of the "Cole Mine" we'd see over a decade later.Comment
