I'm tempted to check out that stone cold classic now. I'm sure it is 3 minutes of well crafted wrestling.

I mean, Alexa Bliss has a collection on there. I can't think of a single memorable match she has had.

Raw before Backlash:

-The birth of "puppies"! Never knew Road Dogg was the one to start it. He said it to Debra, and then King just latched onto that phrase.

-Looks so weird seeing Ministry Undertaker using a flip phone. He was calling Mideon which later led to Mideon finding Vince/Steph at the TV studios and McMahon goes CRAZY, sprints out of the building, attacks Mideon, then tries to run him over.

-A mini thing, but once he left DX, HHH starts wetting his hair, beginning his look he'd have for most of his in ring career.

-Rock with a "funeral" for Stone Cold after throwing him off the bridge. Austin later arrives at the arena with a monster truck and drives over Rocks car! (I always find the timing weird how I'm watching past moments, yet something similar happens in current WWE around the same time)

Onto Backlash, which was actually a good PPV as well:

-Brood vs Ministry was a decent match. Even to this day I think Gangrel and Viscera look creepy.

-Hardcore Holly vs Al Snow for the Hardcore title. A nice match that went all over the arena. I've said it before, but this Al Snow I feel is really underrated. Hardcore matches + his crazy promos. His post-match interview when he starts arguing with Head about who pinned Holly is funny.

-The Blue Meanie/Goldust alliance is weird, in a good way.

-Sad watching the NAO vs Owen/Jarrett, knowing it's Owens final PPV match.

-Big Show vs Mankind in a boiler room brawl! They destroyed everything! Brutal match with both guys busted, Mankinds hand cut big time and it's like a scene out of a movie. He's crawling towards the door and you just seed bloody handprints being left on his way out.

-To me, HHH vs XPac match itself felt boring. The super slow pace of the match reminds me of matches today.

-Main event of Rock vs Austin in no holds barred match. They fought all around ringside, destroying the stage, beating each other all over the place. Funniest moment was Rock taking a camera and filming himself talking and showing fans, then suddenly pans away and there's Stone Cold flipping him off and attacking him.

-Kind of eerie hearing them mentioning all night that a "tragedy" would occur. It was because of Undertaker promising that, but knowing what happened next month, kind of crazy coincidence to hear that. Either way, the PPV ends with Undertaker kidnapping Steph in the limo! Undertakers line during that was so funny.

Next up, the "wedding" and first Smackdown! Also leading into May 99, a month that'll be hard to watch anything Owen related for obvious reasons.

I tried watching it but had to turn it off about a minute in to the match, not because of the wrestling but I think this was when Cole was a heel commentator and I just couldn't take it

Cameramen during those days really had to work. Not just with hardcore matches, but any match in general. It'd just spill into the crowd, and then you'd have cameramen trying to navigate in the crowd with hundreds of crazy fans doing whatever they possibly could to get on TV, touch the superstars, block the camera and so on.


Speaking of which, I know I said it before, but these small stage areas are nice to have. As much as I like the use of technology on the stages today, and no more need for entrance videos (but rather entrance graphics), I think it might be abit TOO big and too much going on during it. Older stages from around AE time are nice and simple and provide some cool shots too.

The entrance ways for the big arena shows back in the day were always memorable. WM14 had the entrance, then that turn towards the ring. They would always have the coolest shots too.

The overdone production now means it has to be extra rehearsed and scripted. Talent has to hit the exact same spot every time. And they make the stage the same every time just so talent doesn't have to do anything crazy or (god save us) improvised. Even the WM stages now are pretty much standard, with that exact same long walkway.

Something Else To Wrestle With has their season finale(already??) on the Network next Wednesday and the topic of discussion...... CM Punk. They will be discussing his WWE career all the way up to his departure in 2014.

I really liked the American Badass episode they have up, lots of doot doot doot impressions. Funny seeing them revisit the angle with Hogan where he chained him to his bike and drug him around backstage.


Watching The Rock's episode and they definitely should have picked Peter Johnson for his ring name instead of Rocky Maivia

When they showed the footage of Hogan being dragged, I agreed with Hayes. That just looked like fun and not the horrible thing that you don't want to do.

They did great job at the little things. Rocks corporate turn was one of best jobs they've done at pushing a guy to the top.

I remember that PPV not being well received back in 98. The heel turn by The Rock was cool, though, because you really didn't see it coming.

The in ring work wasn't anything special, but going back and watching after you know that everything is leading to The Rock turning, I thought some of the little things they did to set it up were brilliant
