Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
That's because they only had one other single TV match. It was on a European tour in April of '93 and it aired on Canal + a TV station based outta France. So I doubt the show ever ran on TV in the US.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Of course. You had Hogan somehow winning the strap at WM in Vegas, evil Doink, camera exploding in Hogan's face at King of the ring, Raw in the Manhatten Center, the Lex Express, TWO Taker vs Giant Gonzalez matches on PPV, Bastion Booger, the insane Bushwhackers/M.O.M vs Bigelow/Booger/Headshrinkers Survivor Series match, Rock N Roll Express had a PPV match, etc. It's the most pro wrestling year they ever had lol.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Armageddon 99. McMahon-Helmsley time.
Spoiler
"10 team" battle royal to determine #1 contenders for tag titles at the rumble. Edge/Christian, Hardys, Dudleys, Acolytes, Too Cool. Even lesser ones like Godfather/Henry, MSP, Headbangers in here too. F4 teams are the 4 you would expect. Acolytes end up winning.
Angle vs Blackman. Fans didn't care one bit about this match....at least until they started chanted "boring". King denies it, and JRs response "what do you think they're saying? Dorine?" Lol. Fans start saying Angle sucks. They actually cheered Blackman simply for kicking Angle. Angle wins with a suplex pin. Blackman hits him with nunchucks and fans cheer.
Backstage interview with Cole and BB who was getting ready for evening gown match in a pool. Cole was at a loss for words. King and wet puppies, name a more iconic duo lol. Miss Kitty wins. Now for the moment people remember, puppies. Censored of course on the network airing, but not the original broadcast. Was this planned? Was Slaughter just late to make the save? Accidentally on purpose?
Rikishi backstage segment. His first words..."Hickory dickory dock. Rikishi finally talks" lol. He represents all the fat HEALTHY people in the world. Battle of super heavyweights. Holly's vs Viscera/Rikishi. And Holly's win.
Kane vs xpac in a cage match. Kane can only win by pinfall. Outlaws get involved. Tori gets involved, Xpac hits her with the xfactor. Xpac tries climbing out, Kane goes through the door and meets him on other side. Fans cheered thinking Kane won. Kane climbs to the top of the cage and hits xpac with a flying clothesline. Tombstone and wins.
Jericho vs Chyna for IC title. Good back and forth match. Jericho makes Chyna tap out. After the match Jericho does an interview with "Mitchell Cole". Chyna comes in and shakes his hand and just leaves him there.
Tag titles. Rock n Sock vs New Age Outlaws. Al Snow comes in and attacks Mankind. Rock takes out Snow, but he gets involved later and costs them the match.
Cant believe Big Show vs Bossman for WWF title is a ppv match. Big Show obviously wins.
Main event. McMahon vs HHH in no holds barred. Match reminds me of the McMahon vs Austin at the rumble match. McMahon took more weapon shots than we see regular stars take today in no dq matches. Mankind randomly brings down a shopping cart filled with weapons for Vince. Armageddon stage was so cool. War machines everywhere, used of course as weapons in this match. Match spills to outside of building and HHH almost runs over Vince. Vince took a Shane dive and fell 20 feet off the lighting tower. HHH pulls out a "who's your daddy" line to Steph lol. HHH wins and then THE moment. Steph and HHH hug and celebrate as fans can't believe what they just saw. I knew it was coming, but such an awesome moment. Story built up week after week for months, with a swerve like this.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Speaking of McMahon Helmsley era, I heard a Bruce Pritchard podcast about their relationship and the storyline.
Interesting note about the story. The endgame was never HHH and Steph ending up together. Story only happened because DX rejected Test story where he'd be the new Diesel and join DX. So Russo wanted him to go over and pushed a Test and Steph story. The end was supposed to be Test leaving Steph at the wedding and becoming the top heel. Vince McMahon hated the story so much and didn't care for Test and he/HHH came up with new ending where HHH marries Steph, and Test gets shafted (led to believe for months the story ends with him being a big heel, to just buried). Vince wanted HHH to cut his hair too earlier in his career.
Interesting stories about their relationship too, and what parts of Chynas recollection was true and what might have been exaggerated(Steph was Chynas biggest supporter backstage, and Vince did offer Chyna a big new deal, but obviously that awkwardness of your ex and boss hooking up would be too much for anyone). Also, funny wedding story (spoiler, Michael Hayes is a crazy drunk).Last edited by Majingir; 08-03-2019, 11:47 PM.Comment
