    Universe Questions/Advice

I have really enjoyed reading the WWE dynasties on this forum. Those of you who have created them and taken the time to allow us to see inside your universe are very creative and should be applauded for all of your work and commitment.

I'm hoping that those of you that are seasoned veterans can guide me in a direction that will make WWE 2K14 enjoyable. I want to start a Universe, there I said it. My universe will consist of 56 total wrestlers (with an emphasis on the classic old school guys) along with about 25 free agents. I will (for now) run the shows in the game, Raw, Superstars, and Smackdown. Also for now, I am letting the computer set the matches and storylines until we get a little bit of history. Here's where the questions come in that I need advice on:

1 - I have those free agents set-up, will the computer sign wrestlers to the shows or is that something that I need to do manually. I have all the Divas as FA, as well as some of the lower-card guys from today.

2 - For those of you that run a universe, how do you handle the matches? Do you sim them? Do you run them as full matchers CPU v CPU, or do you pick a guy to wrestle as for each match? Last year I was Ryback and the matches I wasn't in, I would watch CPU v CPU, it was about 90% of my time watching matches that I wasn't in. It just seemed ridiculous that I was sitting there watching all these matches. For the PPVs I set the match type to Epic and I once sat through a 37 minute match between Hogan and Undertaker, it was great, but at that rate I'd get through one or two matches a night.

3 - Do you allow the CPU to create the storylines, do you, or both?

    1. The CPU won't sign the free agents, you will have to do that manually. That would be a cool feature for next year though.

    2. I do CPU vs CPU for about 95% of my matches. I usually only play when I REALLY want a particular wrestler to win, or I just feel like playing a match randomly.

    3. I usually set the rivalries this year but occasionally I'll only do 1 or 2 of the 3 and I'll let the CPU do the rest.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks for the response, I was hoping the CPU would sign the FA, but that's too much to ask right now.

      How does the Draft work?

I haven't made it to the draft in this years game but last year (from what I can remember). The week following Wrestlemania (so exactly a year form when the universe starts) each show will have "draft matches". For example if it was on Raw, there would be a match between a Raw and a Smackdown Superstar and whatever brand won would get a Superstar from the other brand. The CPU just randomly picks out which Superstar that is.

I mostly watch the matches as well unless I want to have a certain outcome for a storyline that I'm working on at that point in time. A big key to this I have learned from the guys who have been doing this longer than me are to just have fun and don't let the limits of the game set limits on your storylines. Whatever you do I'll check out!

I have to admit, I can't imagine sitting down to watch Cpu vrs Cpu matches. I generally play all the rivalries and then a splattering of other interesting matches. Anything involving wrestlers I've created gets played, then other matches depending on what comes up. Other non-rivalry matches just get simmed, although I do tend to play matches that I think might have some extra action related to a rivalry. I often play almost nothing but the rivalry matches in the last week before a PPV though.

I switched on interventions in most match types, which keeps things pretty chaotic. I generally let the CPU setup the rivalries and book the matches but sometimes I'll step in and change things. I started with short 4 week rivalries based on the real WWE, so if I get my 3rd Randy Orton rivalry in a row I'll be changing that, for example. Recently I've taken to using some of the non-rivalry matches to setup other things. For example I had a tag-team match with my 2 main custom guys vrs Rybaxel. Heath Slater came in (ran in from backstage) and wailed on my partner, losing me the match. So I setup a singles match between them as the next one on the show and then followed that up with a 2v1 backstage beating. And last night I realised I'd not seen Stone Cold in aaaaaages, so he's now beating the hell out of the Smackdown roster until the CPU gives him a rivalry and/or title shot.

(My universe has the entire modern roster (and all the past & present divas) on RAW, along with my created wrestlers. I've then got all the legends/retro versions of people/user created legends on Smackdown. Superstars & Main Event then finish out the week.)

I often find that just because I pick one person to play in matches, it doesn't mean I win. Sometimes it's because I badly time a kick out, other times I just have a terrible fight (I am always terrible in submission matches, for excample) and occasionally I try and do something specific (like beat every body part into red) and push my luck too far instead!
