Re: Ultimate Warrior Dead at 54 (4/8/2014)

I never watched a match of his but I'm depressed, everything I've seen of his character seems awesome and then everything this weekend. My mom is relatively young and grew up with wrestling in the 80s(still watches some). Gave her a call on my planning break and she started balling

Gonna have to watch some of his stuff later tonight

I've never been a big wrestling fan, but I used to watch with my brother some as a kid. Warrior was my guy. I used to drive my brother nuts cheering for Warrior.

As luck would have it, I wound up watching some of RAW the other night. I saw Warrior's final speech. Unreal to think he's gone today.

      RIP Ultimate Warrior.

Thinking of Warrior's death it makes me wonder how well the current generation of superstars are taking care of themselves

I would say much better than any generation before them.

Once again this brings to the forefront what drug and steroid abuse really does to ones body. 54 years old...crying shame

This is definitely the healthiest generation of wrestlers ever. Regular steroid and drug tests in addition to a completely different lifestyle help. In the old days, it seems a lot of the guys spent their down time in bars or doing drugs at a club or their hotel. These guys spend their down time playing video games and goofing off on Twitter.

              So sad.

Yet another wrestler dead before the age of 60.

I still remember Summer Slam 88 like it was yesterday. When he became IC Champion for the first time.

Let's not jump to conclusions. We thought drugs and alchohol were the reason for many of the old guys deaths and it turned out a large percentage actually were caused by complications from concussions.

Yeah, but after it's been reported that it was basically heart failure, it's pretty likely that drug use / steroid use will be a major candidate on why his heart failed.

Not as likely as anything else at this point.

That's so sad. It seemed like he was finally at peace with everything and was ready to go on with his life. Feel horrible for his family.

Man I was stunned when I got the news this morning...just so surreal.

It does seem like a movie, it was just so ironic that in his final days he mended broken relationships with the WWE and various people. He finally got what he deserved and he was so happy. Seeing his "Warrior Girls," kiss him on stage, it's just a devastating blow.

It's almost like he knew his time was running out. That speech on RAW will forever stay entrenched in my brain and I send my prayers out to everyone affected by his passing.

If there's any positive out of the whole thing, Warrior at least died after finding peace with everyone. Part of me feels like that's all he was waiting for before leaving us.

                        RIP Ultimate Warrior

Along with Bret Hart, my favorite from when I watched as a kid. I always used to rent the Wrestlemania VI VHS from the corner video store and watch him win the belts over and over again.

                          RIP

Ya this sucks, but I don't know if I'm surprised or not? I haven't watched the hof speech and caught the very tail end of raw speech before he shook ropes and my feeling watching him was seriously : "the guy looks like he's having a ****ing heart attack" - I thought he nearly passed out exiting the ring and then seemed to be doing everything to walk back and keep a smile on his face. So I hate he passed away, and I'm surprised it happened but then again not surprised because he looked like he was about to die in the ring Monday night. Just all weird overall especially after reading the speech he gave that I missed most of..

In a police statement it sounds like a catastrophic medical condition caused his death. http://www.pwpix.net/pwpixnews/headlines/399064013.php
