I agree with most of it, but it's not a "game killer."
The CAW is definitly lacking which is sad. I know a lot of you guys like making other wrestlers and yes, some of what was said to be in the game isn't.
I saw a post a few days ago with people saying, "there's only 4 grapple moves" etc. Someone responded back by saying, "back in the day they didn't use many moves." That alone was sort of making me think twice. I decided to say, hell with it and open the game. There's more than 4 friking grapple moves. 8 from tie up - 8 from standing - from the front. Well, that just matched smackdowns amount of grapple moves.
I personally think that the gameplay isn't that bad. It's slower paced than smackdown, which is nice. I really like the smackdown series, but sometimes it's too fast.
The guys at Austin Studios for Acclaim did a pretty good job. Granted they've got some stuff to work on... Which is most of the complaints I see - Collsion Detection, some teleporting, etc. This isn't Yukes or AKI making this game. Those guys have been and always will be wrestling orintated programers. As long as Acclaim will give a listen to the Fans that are in message boards they've got a shot at keeping the series improving. Hopefully than can add a couple wrestling fans that are programmers to the team.
blah blah blah
I just don't understand how this game is as bad as some here at OS and others elsehwere make it. Yeah, some things suck and are missing, but there are things that don't suck. Gameplay is decent and the game is fun.
I just hope some people that are turned off trying Showdown wlll at least rent the game since it's not as awful as some of the comments have made it out to be. I'm happy I checked the game out since for some of us it's a great trip down memory lane and not to bad of a game.
