    Where are you from (add-on)?

I started watchin wrestling my freshamn year of HS, so about 7-8 years ago. While I was at a boarding school, I had some friends who watched it on saturdays, and I thought it was so dumb, so "fake". But I watched as we only had one tv in the lobby. Needless to say after a while I became hooked. I'm glad I tuned in when I did because if I watched wrestling now I probably would have just brushed it off, I definatly would not have gotten hooked.

I'm from an era where Austin had the odds stacked against him, yet kids tuned in everyweek because they knew he'd always overcome.

I'm from an era where the midcard mattered. Where The Rock and HHH could make the IC belt mean something.

I'm from an era where competition was at its best, because heads could only like ONE program or the other. (btw, I never watched WCW, but i appreciated that they made the WWF so much better)

I'm from an era where Kane was a voiceless monster who ripped off cell doors just to get at his brother.

I'm from an era where the corporation had all the gold, yet people tuned in everyweek hoping DX would take some of it.

I'm from an era where Mankind and the Rock could feud for 4 months, but you still tuned in b/c you knew they'd always try and out do themselves.

I'm from an era where the main-event talent was limited. You had a few guys who vied for the belt, yet it never got boring.

Remember when the outlaws joined the corporation? When Austin took out everyone in the rumble? When he demolished the nation with the pickup truck? When Taker threw mankind off the cell? When The Brood was dishing out bloodbaths? When Edge and Christian were funny? When DX attacked WCW?

I'm not from the Bret/HBK era, or the hogan warrior era, im not an old school head, thats where I'm from...where are you from?

I'm from an era when I was told to say my prayers and eat my vitamins. I'm from an era when Cindy Lauper was a manager, and Roddy Piper was the ultimate heel, cracking Jimmy Snuka over the head with a coconut. That same Superfly did the unthinkable and splashed someone from the top of a cage, and not one of the cheap short cages they have nowdays. I'm from an era when Nikolai Volkoff and the Iron Shiek were the most hated men in America and Sergeant Slaughter was the ultimate good guy. I'm from an era when an Orton (not Randy) was wearing an arm cast and cracking it over guys skulls. I'm from an era when Jake the Snake (not Plummer) was bringing a boa constrictor named Damian to the ring every week. I'm from an era when Vincent K. Mcmahon was an announcer.

    I'm showing my age. LOL

I'm from an era when the WWF was a watchable product.

I'm also from an era when WCW was a more entertaining product.

Same era here. And to add to that, in that era, Ric Flair and the four horsemen were on top of the world. The fabulous freebirds were the most hated men in Texas. In that era, Magnun TA was battling Nikita Koloff for the US title. In that era , the von erichs were using the "claw" to put a serious hurtin on thier opponents. In that era, people actually used Brain-busters and pile drivers as finishers.

In my era, the road warriors were the top tag team in the NWA. In my era, the wwf was fun to watch, but you had a huge selections of wrestling federations to watch and follow, even GLOW(and we all know how that went)

I'm from an era where the four horsemen were the biggest thing in WCW. As well as Hogan being a main stage in the WWF and Mc Mahon doing announcing. Not to mention seeing people like Austin,Undertaker and many other top WWE stars make there way through the local wrestling ranks into where they are today.

As someone who grew up in the Pro-Wrestling hotbed known as Charlotte, North Carolina, I'm from an era where I got NWA on television up to five times a week.

I'm from an era where the home office for Jim Crockett Promotions (The entity that eventually was sold to Ted Turner and became WCW) was located right next door to the bowling alley my dad used to bowl his league games at. On Saturday mornings, I'd just sit out in the parking lot and watch all of my favorite NWA stars go into the building to get paid from working the night before.

I'm from the era where the Four Horsemen consisted of Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, and Ole and Arn Anderson. The other top heels were Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin, Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express (Beautiful Bobby Eaton and Sweet Stan Lane), Ravishing Rick Rude and the Raging Bull Manny Fernandez, a tag team known as "The New Breed", etc.

The top faces were Dusty Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes, "Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin, Barry and Kendall Windham, Nikita Koloff (he turned face for a feud with Flair...LOVED that Russian Sickle), the Rock'n'Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson), the Road Warriors, and eventually, the man they called Sting.

I'm from an era where a designated loser tag-team known as the Mulkey Brothers FINALLY won a match, pinning the Midnight Express cleanly. What an upset that was!

They had a Royal Rumble-type match known as the Bunkhouse Stampede. They had Scaffold Matches that usually included the Road Warriors. Remember the promos they cut leading up to the match with the Midnight Express at Starcade? Dropping the pumpkins off of the scaffolding outside of a building? CLASSIC!!

Ahh, those were some good shows back in the day. I remember the old NWA fondly.

I'm from a era where Bobby the Brain Heenan and his stable were the top stable. Where Honky Tonk Man bashed a guitar over someones head every week. Where the "Mouth of the South", Jimmy Hart rivaled with the Heenan Foundation. Where Bret, Jim the Anvil and Brutus the Barber were a stable. Where HHH was known as Hunter Hurst Helmsly. Where Hulk Hogan was still the most popular thing in Wrestling. Where Lex Luger bodyslammed Yokazuna on an American war ship. Where WCW came on Saturday nights. Where tag teams reigned supreme. Where Million Dollar Man shoved money down ppls throats. Where managers were actually managers. Where the top Diva was Ms. Elizabeth. Where Hulk and Macho Man went at it on a weekly basis.

I'm from an era where Cage matches were long and brutal. Where George the Animal Steele still riped the ring post apart. Where Undertaker fought himself. Where LOD was god.....

Miss Elizabeth still beats any diva today, IMHO. Really a shame what happened to her. Anyone remember when the million dollar man brought some kid into the ring and told him that he would give him money if he could bounce a ball a certain amount of times, and right before the kid got there, Dibiase kicked the ball? That was classic heel stuff.
