I guess I understand them not thinking he was ready for the WWE Title, but how Austin and others talk about Vince liking when you go to him and say "I'm not this guy...I'm this..." Why wouldn't they let him switch back to Cody when he wasn't feeling Stardust anymore?

I liked Stardust. But it ran its course.

No, I have had that assumption for a long while before Cody (up until recently but there are still some things that irk me). You have a great angle in Reigns and Styles but yet you make Anderson and Gallows lose clean. You have two great competitors in Charlotte and Natalya but you pull a screwjob and a lousy one at that.

The rumor in the past was how he wanted to still be Stardust after his dad passed because he wanted to finish off what he started.

Although I would have preferred if he returned to RAW under Cody Rhodes again the month after his father passed, the moment Cody wanted to drop the Stardust gimmick, it really disappoints me WWE wouldn't let him do it.

The gimmick out ran it's course in 2015, and was really just wasting Cody's time by 2016 and made him stay in jobber status.

Dudes can lose clean once, even if they are dominant. Hell look at all the people who lost clean to bad, and I emphasize bad talent when they first started. Randy Orton ****ing lost to Stevie Richards clean is the first one that comes to mind. That screwjob though can't argue with that, I hated it.

This is a disgrace. Cody has all the talent in the world. I read that statement he put out and I can imagine how he feels. Plus as much as I liked the Stardust character, i would much rather have Cody go back to bringing Cody. Maybe he'll come back....i hope he does at some point...

He wanted to see that Stephen Amell (Arrow) angle through, and I get that. After it was done, there was no reason to keep going as Stardust. Not sure how WWE didn't see that.

Because the Stardust character moved merchandise. Not as much as the top guys, but they sold Stardust masks and gloves and shirts in all sorts of colors.

Re: Cody Rhodes Asks for Release from WWE.

I feel bad for Cody. I think he should have had a championship run. But I also understand the dynamic in WWE. Not everyone can be champion. Sometimes the wrong guy is, and sometimes the right guy is. We all know when Vince has his sights set on someone and they don't work out he would rather go bankrupt before admitting he was wrong.

Things aren't like they used to be. Guys aren't just pushed because they are fan favorites. Of course guys like Zack Ryder think they should be WHC. I'm sure everyone does. But that's not how it works. I'm sure there are a lot on analytics involved. Fan reaction, merch sales, certain demos, ratings, projections, and investors all play a role. And I'm sure they grade potential champions and if they don't grade well using those analytics then they don't get a run.

I'm sure they don't always follow that exact formula, but lets be honest, some guys are just enhancement talent. Obviously nobody gets into wrestling to be that, but that is a critical role for a wrestler. Again, not saying Cody wasn't good enough to be more than that. But they have to draw the line and have to make tough decisions. We all know they don't always make the right ones, but no business does.

                    Just my take on it.

Stardust should've been given a serious run with the IC title. That fact ####es me off more than anything.

Cody should've been WHC at least once in his run.

Damn, they lose two talented individuals in one fail swoop. Good that Brandi/Eden had the fortitude to leave with her husband.

We've seen plenty of times in the past where people choose security over convection/family.
