Fine then, I'll say it. 11 years ago today, BENOIT tribute show.

            What also happened June 25:
            -King Mabel
-Bret vs King (kiss my foot match)
            -King Kurt
-Booker T on Raw and "The battle lines have been drawn!"

            And also...

I still remember this is how people found out DX was returning. A leaked poster for this PPV (and the DX taunts HHH/HBK had used earlier in the year) is what made people find out.

That same PPV featured this match:

                This happened the week before:

People can say what they want about unmasked Kane, but that early stretch of him unmasked is one of my fave stretches in WWE history. First with the huge unmasking, then in following weeks we see things like that chokeslam, tombstoning Linda, setting JR on fire(That moment I'll never forget. I remember watching and having no idea what was actually going on, and then Raw just ends there), and then his feud with Shane where he electrocutes Shane and Shane sends Kane literally into a dumpster fire.

July 6th, 1998: While we all know this should have been saved for a PPV, it was on this day that WCW gave us Goldberg vs Hogan on free TV, and Goldberg beat Hollywood Hogan for the WCW Championship. A match that was announced just days before on Thunder and sold out the Georgia Dome before Nitro.

Re: On this day in professional wrestling history...

WCW's (ie Bischoff's) idea of beating WWF was always about the Monday rating, and 99% of the time Nitro seemed like the focus over PPVs. So by that logic giving away that much on free TV isn't worth criticising too much.

Funny, in retrospect, that Bischoff had it right the whole time, and was a little too ahead of his time for his own good. Back then PPVs were still important to everything, and you couldn't just book whatever. Now it's like giving everything away on TV is the thing to do because of that crazy TV rights fee money.

Keeping up with WCW in this thread.... 8 years prior to Goldberg becoming WCW Champion, a franchise was born on this day in 1990 at Great American Bash. Sting beat Ric Flair for his first World Heavyweight Championship Reign.

I remember when that happened, people were thinking the "CTC" actually meant something "Cryme Tyme Cena"? Like they were gonna form a stable. WWE really dropped the ball on Cryme Tyme. They were so over. One of my fave Cryme Tyme segments was their one with them being scalpers and giving DX tickets to Raw(since DX were banned).

The "JBL is poopy" part is where I first noticed WWEs PG material.

18 years ago today one of the best WCW PPVs happened. Bash at the Beach 2000.

And the wikipedia page is really depressing considering everything that happened at the event. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bash_at_the_Beach_(2000)
