Re: Smackdown Vs. Raw impressions thread

I've noticed that about these games and the WWE as well.

As far as my thoughts on Raw vs. SD I like the game so far the challenges give you something else to do other then just the season mode which is a nice touch. The graphics sound and lighting is alot better then last year which is another good touch as far as this game goes.

As far as the season mode goes it's not to bad I'm now up to the royal rumble and it's pretty damn good. I like the voice overs in the season mode there alot better then then the dumb text we had to read last year. As far as the season matches go there not bad you just have to make sure you stay on your opponent during a match otherwise your screwed. Everything I've seen in the season mode is pretty good and this is just from using a CAW in it. I won't spoil anything about it but when you guys get into the season mode with a CAW you'll enjoy it. Buidling up your wrestler is alot harder then last year which is a great touch. Anyway I would have to say that this game is alot better then Smackdown's game last year and the only question I have is concerning the online aspect. I've heard they might have it to where you can get an updated roster online? I was wondering if there's any truth to this for any of you who might have gone online already.

I very VERY seriously doubt that. If it were a game on XBox, because of the hard drive, I would say it's feasable, but not on PS2. That little memory card couldn't POSSIBLY have a large enough capacity to hold roster updates. You need to stop reading IGN or Gamefaq message boards, brotha! lol

Has anyone else noticed that Submission A moves (submit-escape button-mashing meter) are really wonky? My friend told me he was playing on easy difficulty, got the computer-controlled opponent Chuck Palumbo's body meter completely in the red, latched on a Submission A move, and could not get his opponent to tap. No matter how hard he tapped the buttons, the dot on the Submission meter would fly quickly to the escape side. Does this mean you can't get a computer-controlled opponent to tap to a Submission A move even if the affected body parts are in the red? That would make Submission A moves useless.

Create A Taunt is GONE, which sucks because I made taunts in Here Comes The Pain.

Certain moves are also GONE. I couldn't find the Razor's Edge, a few DDTs, the regular Tombstone Piledriver without pin from previous SmackDown!s, the Earthquake, and some other moves from previous SmackDown!s. I will unlock the Movesets in ShopZone to make sure.

I don't like Season Mode. Here Comes The Pain had more customizability and I prefer that Season Mode: you could add wrestlers to / remove wrestlers from the roster, decide who would be on Raw and SmackDown, and decide who the Faces and Heels would be on each show. You could also roam around the arena. IF THQ / Yukes' makes another SmackDown! game, they should scrap voiceovers (which sound horrible anyway and waste disk space) and change Season Mode back to the way it was in Shut Your Mouth / Here Comes The Pain with full customizability of the rosters and Heels and Faces, and the ability to roam around. Legends SHOULD be able to be controlled and upgraded in Season Mode. Women wrestlers should be controllable in Season Mode.

ALL of the WWE's Titles should be present, including the absent WWE Tag Team Titles, the World Tag Team Titles, the WWE Women's Title, and the WWE Cruiserweight Title.

Some of the Legends should have slightly higher stats (but we can't upgrade them, which also sucks): Bret Hart should have 10s in Submission, Endurance, and Technical.

Create A Pay Per View has a few things wrong with it. In-game Titles should be able to be defended in Create A Pay Per View. In-game Titles and Created Titles should be able to be defended on 1 memory card, not 2. In-game Titles and Created Titles should also be defendable in Exhibition.

I think in the Challenges when it says "Anyone" I think they mean to beat the Challenge ONLY with a CAW. My friend wasn't able to clear a Challenge with Triple H that said that "Anyone" could clear it, even though he completed the Challenge.

I like the CAW. I also like the new moves in Create A Moveset, but they should not have TAKEN OUT moves. The list of Call Names is not big enough and has generic names in it. The Call Name should be like in WWE RAw 2 where you can string up to 4 Call Names together. There are a few things wrong with the CAW. The CAW is missing an option in Profile called Bleeding, which you can turn ON or OFF, to make CAWs who don't bleed (superhero CAWs). I also don't like the stat caps: if I want to make a wrestler have all 10s, then I should be able to do it. There are also no capes in the CAW, which is what I want.

Create A Belt has a few things wrong with it. I think making a belt in Create A Belt shouldn't cost anything. The belt parts (which should be REAL WWF/WWE/WCW/ECW belt parts, as well as other designs) should be unlocked in ShopZone. Create A Belt is missing the Classification Tag Team, to make Tag Team Titles.

I like ShopZone, but instead of useless Diva garbage that's a waste of WWE cash, they should have put old WWF Entrance Music (Hulk Hogan's Real American theme, Randy Savage's theme, Kane's old WWF theme, the nWo theme, the DX theme, the New Age Outlaws theme, Jake Roberts' Snake Bit theme), Create A Belt parts, alternate attires for MORE in-game wrestlers, and unlockable wrestlers who are no longer with the WWE and are not Legends (Goldberg, Scott Steiner, Sean O' Haire, Rikishi, Goldust, Kevin Nash) in the ShopZone.

Stone Cold Steve Austin should be a Legend in SmackDown! Vs Raw, as well as Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. I don't know why THQ / Yukes' removed the Tag Team Titles from both shows and then included the Legion Of Doom, Animal and Hawk, as Legends, it doesn't make any sense: LOD and The Dudley Boyz have nothing to fight for.

Razor's Edge is in one of the unlockable move sets in the shop zone...I forget which number it is, but it's there...I made a CAW with Razor's moves, and edited them to change a few things (didn't want a total razor, but the Razor's Edge is one of my fav moves).

With my CAW I notice the same issue on the A submissions...but I don't remember it when I was using HBK, so I'm not sure...my CAW's got decent stats now, but using him in Season mode will take a while, because you start out with so little Superstar points that I won't be near a belt anytime soon

Re: Smackdown Vs. Raw impressions thread

I rented it. It's a good game but that's exactly the problem. It's only good. HCTP was great. I don't like C.A.W anymore.(I filled all 32 spots + 8 more on a 2nd card in HCTP) I don't like not being able to set up my season or only being able to use 1 created wrestler in it. Not enough new moves and what's there is kind of basic. I really just have the same complaints as all the others that have already been said in reviews and stuff. It's kinda like going from Madden 2003 to Madden 2004. I wanted it to be like going from NFL 2K3 to ESPN NFL 2K4.

The thing with the little ball moving back and forth: pressing X just makes it move faster and it'll be harder for them to escape or reverse. Just use the other submissions they work a lot better.

To correct what I said, I unlocked all 4 moveset groups in the ShopZone, and the Razor's Edge (called Powerbomb 6) and the Earthquake, as well as other moves, were unlocked. To unlock the other moves, you have to unlock all of the Legends in the ShopZone and do all of the Challenges. When it says you can beat a Challenge with "Anyone" they mean with anyone: a WWE in-game wrestler or a CAW or a Legend. I know this because I beat about half of the Challenges yesterday on Normal difficulty, most of them with Triple H (who has the best stats of all of the in-game wrestlers), one called the Dudley Boyz Challenge, and the Triple H Challenge I beat with Shawn Michaels. I haven't touched Season Mode yet. I wasn't able to beat the Crippler Crossface Challenge: I put Chris Benoit in Crossface after Crossface with Triple H when his head, arms, and body were in the red, and he was bleeding, and I couldn't make him tap no matter how hard I tapped the buttons.

DDT, I did all the challenges (including Legend), and I'm happy to help in anyway if you got questions. You think Benoit is hard?? Wait til you fight Bret Hart and have to steal his sharpshooter! That was much harder mainly because you have to put the difficulty on hard wheras in the Benoit challenge you put it on easy or normal... dont remember. Anyways, definatley put the difficulty down to the lowest they'll allow and play as KURT ANGLE. Just as good as Triple H, but his submission and technique are both 10's. Very important in a submission match.
