At least they had Rusev win the US Title, on his birthday on kayfabe Christmas. See, booking popular babyfaces to win and look good is not a bad thing lol.

Re: The WWE SD Live WEEKLY Thread
For a taped episode when nothing usually of note happens, that was a pretty damn good show. Maybe they really are getting it?
The thing with Vince and AJ was both WTF just happened and I can't wait to see where this goes at the same time. That's a good start to help ratings. Finally a good cliffhanger to make us want to watch next week.Comment

Wait what happened with Vince and AJ? I read the results last week which obviously didn’t have the backstage stuff added yet.

Re: The WWE SD Live WEEKLY Thread
Watching the show "live", (with Wrestlemania 11 playing on my laptop on the side lol) and man how do y'all watch this show with all the damn commercials. I swear It's way worse then when I was watching these shows live every week. Maybe this is why the ratings are at an all time low.
You know I thought that too, but I went back and watched a bunch of Raws from 97 and I was surprised to see 2 matches interrupted by commercials. I thought that didn’t become a thing till the 2000’s. Now there’s def way more today. Every match is interrupted now. But it’s less of a jump than I remember.

Re: The WWE SD Live WEEKLY Thread
That ending to the Hardy/Joe match tho. Jeff Hardy got DQd for kicking Joe too much on the outside of the ring.
Why even do matches if your goal is to get out of them with via a non-finish. Just have Joe beat up a jobber or something.Comment

Re: The WWE SD Live WEEKLY Thread
They've never really positioned Styles as a guy who needs someone else to motivate him, so the basic idea for the segment didn't make a whole lot of sense...but it's probably just to give an on-screen reason for the "Real" AJ Styles to continue going after the "New" Daniel Bryan.Comment

Maybe it won't lead to anything between them because it's not supposed to. They seemed to pretty clearly lay out that Vince wanted a more aggressive AJ. And he got it.

I thought it made total sense from the perspective of this whole “we’re listening” angle they’re playing. AJ just had a year long title reign that was very very similar to CM Punks in that he hardly ever headlined and despite being the champion and the best wrestler in the company he wasn’t featured or talked about relatively speaking. That whole promo played into that. Playing that despite being champion Vince didn’t know who he was. So yeah AJ never needed motivating before but this was different. A way to acknowledge things the fans were saying plus a quick way to give AJ’s character a quick change of direction(which is great because let’s be honest, heal AJ was way more interesting)

The whole heel/babyface dynamic, as minimal as it exists in modern WWE, is even muddier in this Bryan/AJ feud.Comment

Re: The WWE SD Live WEEKLY Thread
I’m going to need an explanation for how Joe chokes out Hardy outside the ring, rolls back in at an 8 count with Hardy still outside the ring and the ref restarts the countComment

I was there and didn’t have the benefit of commentary so this was super confusing.Comment
