Watching Sting leave after the post-PPV scrum, I had the thought... imagine if Darby attacked him. Then do one last match at Wembly. It was a pretty emotional send-off. Khan wouldn't do that because it would be questionable (at best) business, but still.

Tony tried to convince Sting to stay until All In but he said no. Originally, AEW Revolution was supposed to take place in the midwest(assuming St. Louis since AEW Dynasty is taking place there) but it got moved to Greensboro once Sting said he was going to have his final match.

How does everyone feel about Darby Allin insinuating that guys that 'let the company book them against whoever' and don't 'stand up for themselves' are bitches (i.e. Kurth Angle)?

I know people wanted Cena to retire Angle (Angle probably wanted that too), but whether fair or not the company has final say in your opponent.

I personally would've preferred McIntyre to be in the retirement match with either 'Taker or Kurt, but WWE/Vince thought Corbin (plus I think Undertaker chose AJ as his last opponent) needed the rub.

Obviously, it hasn't helped or hurt Corbin that he retired Angle and Kurt got to go out at the biggest show in pro wrestling. I think had he been healthier and not looked as bad as he did towards the end things could've been different.

Anyway, is it better to go out 'your way'/standing up for yourself, be a 'company man' taking what they give you, or fading into obscurity on the indy scene?

Dumb thing to say as a blanket statement, because it depends entirely on who’s booking. It’s a situation where Tony kinda being a pushover benefits the wrestler because he’ll accommodate them, where Vince being an ******* who books what he wants to see gave us Angle vs Corbin.

I’m 100% sure Angle (and probably Cena and others) pitched different matches but if Vince wanted to do the Corbin match what’s Angle really going to do, not retire? Do a few more on the indies and end up having your last match in front of 100 people in WhoGivesA****, Missouri? I mean…

Vince really did not give a **** how legends were presented on his programming past a certain point. Angle wanted Cena (which is what EVERYONE wanted to see), but Vince said he had to wrestle Corbin, then at the next WM he could have the Cena match. Imagine another year of Angle doing matches. He could barely move.

Vince's treatment of legends as guys either to get beat up or embarrassed to get heat for younger talent was a thing for a long time. I don't know if it was his own psychological issues and insecurities playing out, like how he stopped using the numbered Wrestlemania names because he thought it made it seem old. Either way it's more of the fatally flawed logic that hurt WWE severely for a good 15 years or so.

Vince is an awful human. But in this particular case, they'd already been building to a match between Corbin and Angle when Kurt went to Vince about retiring.

Retirements also don't HAVE to happen at WrestleMania. Sting didn't retire at a Stadium show for AEW. He didn't retire at Double or Nothing or All-Out. He retired at what is probably AEW's #4 or #5 PPV now. And it was great. It wasn't any less special. Hell, it was probably more special because the show was really about him.

Vince deserves a TON of criticism for most things. But I don't think the Kurt Angle retirement is really one of them.

                Re: AEW Off-Topic

Revolution was a good show. Most of it was predictable, but obviously everyone's main focus was just the main event.

That was a crazy main event, and what a way for Sting to go out! Darby crashing through that glass was crazy! Even the sound of it was crazy.

Not that Stings AEW theme wasn't good, but just something about hearing certain songs gives it that much more of a big feel. The second you hear seek and destroy you know it's about to be huge.

It's a shame they got cut off on PPV, even if they uploaded the whole thing online, you awkwardly wrap up a PPV mid promo because you can't time stuff? Sting should've had all the time in the world for that. Which is another reason I wanted his farewell promo to be on Dynamite. Give him however long he wants and fans will be fine with it.

AEW suspended Sammy Guevara for his incident with Jeff Hardy during their match.

If that's the reasoning wouldn't you suspend the ref and doc who let the match continue instead of the wrestler?

Seems like AEW never even asked WWE or TNA for any sort of Sting footage to use in their video package for him.

On one hand, would they actually say yes? TNA would, but feels like they just assumed WWE would say no and didn't bother asking.

Definitely don't see why they wouldn't think a deal could've been reached.

Get WCW footage at least from WWE so it ties into the whole TNT stuff, and in return they could have Dustin at WM for Cody's win. WWE pulled off a similar deal where they got Flair from TNA for the Horsemen HOF and TNA got Christian from WWE to appear.

TNA perhaps could've been a similar thing too. Get Sting footage from them and in return they could have one of their talents appear on TNA.

Haven't watched the match, but based on what that article says, I'd assume Hardy got injured, they probably had protocols for the match (continue it but end it gently) and Sammy just carried on like normal and hit his finisher too?

Probably best if it was called off, but guess they thought they could continue it just to get to the ending, which isn't something that should happen either.

I watched the highlights. At the end of the match, Guevara went for a shooting star press with Jeff getting his knees up, and his shin nailed Jeff in the side of the head. They were down for a bit, referee is saying something to both of them. They get up, Jeff goes for a Twist of Fate, Guevara counters and hits the Go to Hell.

If Guevara is being suspended, my thought is that the ref probably told them to go home with a roll up, and Hardy and Guevara decided to do the planned finished (with Guevara kneeing Hardy in the side of the face). That or they're just scapegoating Sammy. Maybe the ref is suspended too?

Matt Hardys contract is set to expire at the end of the month.

At this point, don't see any reason for AEW to keep him. I think they should be past the nostalgia part of their hires. Hardy really didn't do a whole lot the past few years that was impactful for them or makes it worth their while to keep him. Even if he and Jeff eventually went back to WWE (does WWE even want Jeff back since he didn't leave on mutual terms), most I see is just the part time role in matches with DIY, Creeds and others.

If the ref was involved, they'll definitely be suspended or worse too. I remember WWE fired Arn because he let Alicia Fox go out for a match when she was clearly drinking beforehand. This is much more severe.

Jim Ross has signed a new one year deal with AEW.

We figured he had when he showed up to call Sting’s Last Match at Revolution, and now the legendary announcer is confirming that — and sharing some details about his new deal with Tony Khan.

Kevin Kelly likely done with AEW.

Seems he wasn't happy with his role in the company and sent out tweets about it over the weekend. Either he quit or they let him go.

Okada made it rain indeed, Toyko Sports says he signed a 3 year deal with AEW worth $13.5M which comes out to $4.5M annually. No way WWE was going to try to match that, TK definitely overpaying to keep people from going to WWE.

Wonder what the numbers will be for Mercedes' contract.
