Hogan going to WCW in '94 was a pretty huge lift to WCW's mainstream credibility, even in retrospect if it seems like it was a lot Dungeon of Doom/Yeti nonsense. That Bash at the Beach with Flair was huge.

Does WCW get that TNT Monday Nitro deal if Hogan never comes over though?

Didn’t know people did fight graphics for wrestling matches. Look at Kenny trying to store a finisher with all the taunting.

I didn’t say he shouldn’t be there. I said that segment sucked and was a waste of time. If you’re gonna put him on the show do something other than give him 10 minutes to self grandize.

They don't, but that's what I was saying in comparing him with Jericho going to AEW.

Hogan in NWO changed things big time, but the TV deal was really the main thing he accomplished pre NWO.

I'm reading on reddit about the fan experience during the show on Wednesday and it sounded terrible. Looking at this thread where it talks how the stadium wants AEW to come back again.... I mean the first one with the concessions was similar to what happened at Summerslam except their machines went down and they had to give away free food. The last one though... that's insane.

The concessions were a joke and they ran out of food, couldnt get lines moving etc. Ran out of beer somehow. The merch line was wrapped around the entire building. Idk why their facility manager didn't just make a call to Barclays or somewhere and ask their people how to prepare for a show like this, because it was beyond obvious they did not know how to do it. I'd say the venue itself probably left tens of thousands of dollars in concessions on the table just being unprepared.
Lines to enter the Stadium stretched close to a mile, all the way across the boardwalk to the 7 train and Long Island Rail Road stations
The line from the train wrapped three times IN FRONT OF THE TRAIN STATION before we even got to the initial gate lmao

That sucks. It was a pretty unusual venue for pro wrestling. Maybe I'm the only one, but it seemed like a struggle to make it look like a huge crowd on camera. The lighting and camera angles didn't feel conducive to wide shots full of people. If you would have said there was 5k in the building I wouldn't have disagreed based on the view on television.

Looks like the sections are pretty steep, maybe it looked more like a vertical wall of fans instead of the “depth” we’re used to with modern arenas?

I’ll assume for the same reasons that it might’ve been cooler to wrestle in than other places too. All the fans on top of the action and reacting probably had to be loud as hell.

Yeah, from pictures I've seen they were stacked up way high. I guess it makes sense since the ground/lower level of a tennis venue would be smaller than the NBA arena we are used to seeing on TV.

Unfortunately, sporting venues are facing the same staffing issues as virtually every other business in America. I know the University of Louisville has had major struggles trying to staff the stadium for their home football games so far this season. There were some issues with concession lines at the Cincinnati Reds game I went to.

From pictures I've seen, Arthur Ashe's mid and upper levels are pretty steep, which makes sense considering it's a tennis venue.

I don’t think the amount of people was the issue. The US Open would draw and service way more people in a day than a wrestling show would.

Although those are very odd problems to have. I mean the US Open basically just happened so you’d think they’d still have plenty of staff since that ran without issue. Very odd.

The line thing sounds like when Mania was in Dallas. My buddy went and said the line to get in was massive and a good chunk of people couldn’t even make it in till after the show started.

Depends on how they are staffed. Here in Minnesota all the stadiums have a very small full-time staff, and use part timers to fill in gaps as it saves massive money on payroll and benefits. It wouldn't shock me of AA did the same.

Something I've thought of after seeing the Bryan vs Omega match.

Could we see an Ironman match between those two?

AEW has had so many plain and simple one on one or tag matches on their shows, they could use some more with different stipulations.

I think a Bryan vs Omega ironman match would be too good to pass on.
