    Re: Smackdown Cancelled!!!

I didn't even realize Smackdown was still on until Raw last week where they talked about 15 Smackdown guys in the Rumble. I haven't watched that product in at least 4 years.

I think Vince should try to sell his product to a pay channel (e.g. HBO or Showtime). He could completely take the reigns off.

Look at what moves like that do to regular programs like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Soprano's, and Sex and the City...

        It would be VERY interesting!

Awww, yeah! How great would it be for the Undertaker to tell someone to, "Burn in Hell, Mother ****er!!"

Damn, sometimes I wonder if I'll ever grow out of my juvenile mentality.

I hope I at least keep a part of that with me forever, gotta act 12 sometimes

While I think it'd be cool to see the WWE on HBO or something, I'm not sure that meshes with Vince's image for the WWE. They target kids a lot, and want the younger fan, so putting it on HBO, with a more mature rating, you might lose some of the fanbase.

I'm surprised somebody hasn't brought up the dissolving of the two brands and maybe making RAW a 3 hour episode. It seems like Smackdown has been the inferior brand from day one, as the werstlers site a big difference from being on a live show and one that's taped. Also, when you have to rely on Kenzo Suzuki to help Cena continue his dominance, you gotta think there's other guys on RAW who are better suited to give him a run. If Smackdown was merged with RAW again, you could have a legit cruisierweight and tag team division again and really put your best foot forward with the major storylines, which are getting old and too dependent on the man who gets booty from the bosses daughter...Triple H. Any suggestions on this as a possibility?

That would be cool Clay. Unfortunately, those 3 shows have something WWE doesn't-good screenwriters. Maybe they should try to hijack some of their talent.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Good point. The writing team has really been under the radar with big ideas lately, especially when you used to see beer trucks and zambonis on RAW every other week!

Another thing I was thinking about if the two brands merged, you could start building up factions, like rebuilding Evolution with young talent, starting an ECW stable since right now it seems they're in the highest demand since going out of business. I don't know how you'd break it down, whether it be one big night of wrestling on Monday or the same as now maybe using Spike for Thursday night. The World Title picture could be a struggle as the Horsemen of old tried to secure the belt for Flair, so could these factions have major storyline implications going for tv time and gold. Just ideas, but the WWE needs to make some serious changes to get back lost viewers who tuned in for "hell yeahs" and the like years ago.

Actually that is a bit of a misconception these days. This statement would be true in the 80s and early 90s when Hulk Hogan was the focus of the company. Vince will gladly take in the youth market but he's already gone in such a crude and (im)mature direction especially when DX were running around that the whole "marketing to kids" argument is dead and mute. The main demographics for WWE now is the 18-35 age bracket.

It would be VERY interesting if they went to HBO or something like that but then it would probably spell the end of SMACKDOWN on Canadian television as i'm sure The Score or Sportsnet wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Then again TMN here (basically our HBO) would probably take it if they went to HBO.
