    Re: AEW All Out: 9/5/21

I feel like I missed something with the cage match. I didn't hate it, but it was too much "wait here for the spot. okay, now the next one" for me - but that's probably them being limited in space with it being 4 guys in a cage. Or maybe I had my expectations too high off of how much I liked their ladder match a couple years ago.

Really good show overall though, Paul Wight/QT Marshall being the obvious exception.

Isn't that generally how a Young Bucks/Lucha Bros match comes across?!

Not so much Penta - who I think is the most talented wrestler of the bunch - but the other three are glorified spot monkeys that don't know how to work a legitimate match, IMO.

If they aren't doing overly choreographed flippy **** then all three are dead in the water.

You're not wrong. Maybe I should say that style flowed better for me in other matches.

          Re: AEW All Out: 9/5/21

What a PPV! Again, if you did not like that then you aren't a fan of Pro Wrestling. Top to bottom an amazing show, I will never get tired of Young Bucks/Lucha Bros but just tired of these amazing spots that end with false finishes. WWE has run into that problem as well in recent years, especially in NXT but I kept thinking the match should have been over several times because there were spots I felt were match ending spots but only got a two. Other than that, that was a hell of a cage match.

So.... Ruby Soho comes right in to win the Casino Battle Royale and gets the next shot at Britt? I know the end goal is likely Thunder Rosa taking the title off Britt but I'm just not sure if the right person won. Like perhaps Rosa should have won it while Ruby still has to work her way to a title shot. Guessing the AEW faithful will give them a pass for immediately giving her a title shot rather her work her way to the title match, the reason rankings exists to begin with.

CM Punk may have some ring rust but looked good, also Darby looked good in defeat. I definitely want to see Punk go against some top heels who can go toe to toe with him on the microphone. This was a good way to bring him back for his first match. Again, the way wins and losses matter makes it so easy to build toward Punk facing off against a bigger name opponent.

I'm sorry but Jericho/MJF as good as the match was, completely killed the momentum of MJF ALREADY winning after the 5 labors. This was 100% done so Jericho could get his win back over MJF which he didn't need... brother.

The fact that WWE wanted nothing else to do with Christian other than a Royal Rumble return and feel good moment with Edge is looking like a terrible decision. He can still go and proved it tonight. I was close to thinking the ending was overbooked but it was absolutley perfect. AEW is building major momentum thanks to WWE's oddball decisions in the past couple years and the landscape of Pro Wrestling is looking damn good... BAY BAY!

            That was a good show.

Debuts are one thing but writing is another. Write week to week compelling stories with actual plot points and such and everything will be all the better.

I sincerely hope they do that with those guys because this industry....****in' needs it.

I was too harsh and used a "derogatory" term, but short and simple: there is a lot of bell - to - bell action and high spots but little regard (or none at all) for ring psychology or match storytelling.

That is common place with most Young Bucks matches and especially true when they're against the Lucha Bros.

It is the wrestling equivalent of a popcorn movie or a Michael Bay film. Which is ironic cause they work in the supposedly "more pro wrestling" based company.

I do hope that the Young Bucks losing means all these long title reigns can be better balanced out.

Every damn champion in AEW doesn't need a 4+ month reign in particular when they've got so many people that could use a title victory (to solidify them).

Speaking of which, Sammy Guevara should be next in line for the TNT championship and hopefully that is the direction they go.

Must say I enjoyed the hell out of that, what a show and the debuts were very well done.

Interesting comment I saw on a YouTube clip from last night, would AEW even exist if Vince would have just let Cody drop the Stardust gimmick?

I don't know if it was my comment or not but I posted something similar on Reddit.

                        - Imagine letting CM Punk walk out because of a Staph Infection misdiagnose and a son-in-law who couldn't keep his ego in check.

                        - Imagine letting Cody Rhodes go because him portraying Stardust was more important than being himself.

                        - Imagine letting Chris Jericho leave because Goldberg/Lesnar needed to have a title involved.

                        - Imagine letting Jon Moxley go because you wanted to him to say stupid things and had him wear a gas mask.

                        - Imagine letting FTR go because Tag Team Wrestling isn't important enough.

                        - Imagine letting Miro go because the booking team doesn't know how to use him properly.

                        - Imagine letting Christian Cage leave because you think all he's good for is a Royal Rumble pop and feel good moment with his best friend.

                        - Imagine letting Adam Cole go....... over Twitch.

                        - Imagine letting Daniel Bryan go because you didn't want him to wrestle in Japan.

                          These are all oversimplification, though.

All these people were unhappy - except for Bryan Danielson - and needed a fresh start somewhere else.

And apparently WWE really valued BD/DB are were willing to give concede things. He just want a change of scenery.

Bryan alluded in the media scrum that he felt Vince was over protective of him and he wanted more freedom to do what he wanted to do.

I would like to think he won’t go pure wreck less considering he has a family back home.

I'm fine with long shows but pacing wise I much prefer the shorter ones. It feels so much smoother. This was a great PPV though.

I have been listening to Ruby Soho's theme on loop lol, such a great song. Say what you will but at least Tony Khan is willing to shell out the money for licensed music which just makes everything better.

Not like the two most iconic theme songs in wrestling history weren't licensed songs... oh wait. Real American was performed by Rick Derringer and then you have Pomp & Circumstance. Then if you are counting for wrestling today, obviously Cult of Personality with CM Punk. This is why I'm hoping they can get The Final Countdown for Bryan Danielson.
