This felt like an old school crowd to me. Fans enjoyed the show start to finish, and definitely paid respect where it was due (like to Shelton for instance).

Such a fun show to be at for sure. Biggest pops by far were Trish, Lumis, Gargano and not even a close 1st, Edge. I wasn't even expecting Gargano. Looked like they just played the music once returning from commercial. I didnt get a video of the pop in time, but got it the second after the Gargano tron showed up.

The big story that dirtsheets will talk about probably tomorrow, Edge essentially marked his retirement. August 2023 in Toronto, possibly Summerslam? will be the end of the road for him. Doubt it happens at Rogers Centre with Jays being there, but no MLB schedule released just yet, perhaps WWE manages to book it? Not sure how the renovations and seat realignment will work with a WWE show since the venue is trying to steer away from non baseball events.

What a fun week for sure. Raw today, I already bought my tickets for the next show around New Years, and AEW tickets go on sale in a few days. Same venue for the AEW show and WWE House Show, I'll laugh if they promote the WWE show during the AEW one in October.
Summerslam 2023 in Toronto perhaps? It has to be the Blue Jays stadium, it fits the stadium atmosphere Nick Khan wants for the bigger shows. That's crazy he wants to retire in a year, thought for sure he would at least make it to Wrestlemania 40 then retiring. Cena vs Edge... one final time.

Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread

RAW in Toronto started off with a Riddle/Rollins brawl. I like this because this helps makes us believe that the opponents hate each other. Something that has been lacking in a lot of today's feuds. Nice to see Trish Stratus on the show too and man she still looks hot for her age. That Asuka/Bliss vs Sky/Kai tag team was solid too and the WWE didn't let Asuka and Sky go at it for much as I assume they are waiting for them to have a proper singles match. Balor vs Ziggler was a great match too and it sounds like Judgment Day got a new entrance song.

Man that was a loud ovation Kevin Owens got when he came out to wrestle Chad Gable. I was like isn't he a heel? But let him be the babyface for one night in Toronto because the crowd needed someone to go against the heel work of Gable. Bayley's first match since her return came against Aliyah and it wasn't a good match but its just good to see Bayley back. Lashley/Styles vs Miz/Ciampa was okay but we are mainly going to talk about Dexter Lumis yanking Miz to the back. I have no hate on Johnny Gargano making his return to the company. But he looks tiny out there. More tinier than Theory. Great main event match with the crowd popping big for Edge. Some nice spots in this match with the table breaking and Edge doing a hurricana. Let's not forget this is a part-timer and he's delivering out there at his age. The show ending with Beth Phoenix helping her husband was nice and has you wondering if this is leading to a mixed tag team match. Solid show again with Triple H delivering being in charge.

They could always do Edge vs Cena at Summerslam, or just WM39.

I hope WWE does realize the Jays stadium is having renovations done. I really don't know if it will be suitable for events like WWE anymore, I hope so. Angling all seats towards home plate, maybe that's better? Thats what other stadiums are like anyways. The new stadium show ramp setup like we've seen for Summerslam might work here. But talent would be coming from the CF part of the stadium, so I don't know if they'd have the ring by home plate, ontop the dirt infield?

seems like props are due to everyone involved, kept a total secret from everyone, ran during a time where it wouldn't overshadow the last segment or the previous segment. Gargano is also a WWE guy to me at this point, I think he just fits in better over there. I'm sure many in AEW would've loved to have him, but he's another guy who should probably be challenging for gold based on his popularity, and it feels like WWE lacks those guys, and AEW has them in spades right now. Also happy he was able to take 9 months off and be with his family/kid and do the things he wanted to do. I often believe that wrestlers don't take enough time off(for time off's sake), though I don't believe many benefit from my armchair psychology.

Raw was a solid B imo, but more importantly, for the third week in a row, I don't feel bad for spending my time watching it.

Also as a side note, one of my best friends was at the show, and much like some people here is a certified Gargano *****, and we joked about when he bought those tickets that Gargano was gonna debut in Canada. Lo and behold here we are.

I know people often have misheard lyrics in theme songs (lobster head), but can't say I've ever heard someone with a misheard nickname.

During Raw I heard someone cheering for Bianca, but they weren't cheering for the EST. They were cheering for the TST.

I guess that makes her the roughtst the toughtst the quicktst the baddtst.

SD will be airing taped for the next 2 weeks.

It sounds like it will be a weird one. When SD begins to air on TV, it will already be in hour 2 of the actual taping, and by time the TV airing ends, next weeks episode will already be happening.

Great match to start the show. Glad to see Ricochet won clean again. Looks like the Vince era of 50/50 booking is finally over.

How do Nikki Cross and Doudrop not get on the card at Cardiff? This writes itself, Paul.

I just don't get it with Natalya.... I get TJ is a producer/agent for Women's Matches but why keep giving her these random pushes each year? Even if Nikki & Doudrop weren't winning, at least try something new with Dana & Tamina doing something not involving the 24/7 Title or go with Xia Lee & Shotzi. Nattie apparently never got the genes from her Dad or Uncle Bret that give her Charisma and a personality.

Triple H is seemingly undoing everything Vince did and that includes giving Shayna a proper push unlike Vince when she should have beat Becky at Pandemic Wrestlemania. I think Ronda is going to show up at Clash and accidently cause Shayna to lose the match and we may get a Triple Threat down the line or something.

Well, they are planting something with Cross & Doudrop arguing behind Nattie/Sonya in that backstage segment.

It just makes the most sense to have either heel Io/Dakota or Nikki/Doudrop going against a possibly returning Sasha/Naomi.

Do the Usos have an opponent yet for the PLE? I thought the other members of the Brawling Brutes would be involved somehow. Just stuff the show with as much British/European talent as possible. [emoji38]

Damn, great finish to an otherwise average show.

The Usos, Zayn & McIntyre are carrying the blue brand. I can't wait to see the match next Saturday and how this will all shake out.
