Don't think Rock will win the Rumble, they are basically telling us it's Cody Rhodes. They haven't been this obvious about a Royal Rumble winner in a while. Triple H is giving Cody Rhodes the big comeback story he got in 2002.

As for Roman and Rock, it's an easy set up. The Ceremony takes places, everyone acknowledges Roman and Rock's music hits. He comes out, everyone is happy to see him, fans start chanting Rocky... Rocky, Rocky, etc. Roman is visibly angry because Rock is stealing his spotlight. Roman destroys Rock to end the show, Cody wins the Rumble. Have Rock play a part in Roman losing the WWE Championship so Cody can go after that title while setting up Rock/Roman for the Universal Championship.

I mainly enjoyed the US Title stuff, and the opening promo stuff on RAW this week. Not much else. The Alexa/Bianca segment was fine too. Bayley/Becky promo was cool too as both ladies had some lines against each other. So is Dominik's new gimmick is that he's a gangster now? Because he went to "jail?" I'm all for character development I guess. Really wondering if MVP is trying to get the Hurt Business back together. Along with Omos. Thats something to watch for too. Again, my feelings are still the same. I wish these shows had a World Title program going.

this is why wrestling fans are always disappointed, not saying it will or won't happen, but i don't see any reason to take this at anything other than face value. They've been running Cody hype packages for awhile, and they probably want to ensure that Cody fans are tuning into the Rumble to see their hero return, rather than make them wonder.

I'll be the first to say that I'd be super into this if it happened, but as someone who generally harps on match quality, I'm not watching Rock vs Reigns to see a five-star instant classic that Meltz is gonna go cross-eyed over. It could be a 15-minute "play the hits" type of deal and that would(most likely) leave me satisfied as a viewer.

You’re not wrong. I said this once in another post, I’m sure the match itself would be fine - nothing great but not terrible. Not terrible matches can still have good stories, but I don’t see Rock challenging Reigns’ status as Head of the Table being all that interesting either…so I’m 0-for-2 on things to get invested in.

But obviously my assumption of what they’d do could be wrong and I end up really liking the match if it happens, so we’ll see how it unfolds.

I was looking up his ratings for the Rock/Cena matches and he actually gave them great reviews, in spite of them being very sloppy and not really good in-ring. So the spectacle and atmosphere can always elevate things. The trick is for the Rock to ramp up his in-ring and practice enough so that it comes off not terrible, and also hope he doesn't suffer multiple serious injuries like the last time.

I love those matches enough they're one of a few of the Wrestling DVDs that I have where I kept the case after moving so much. Both Wrestlemanias.

Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread

I'm excited because Triple H has done good job to me in making things interesting and making you wonder how things will actually end up playing out.

I think it is OBVIOUS that Cody is winning the Rumble, that's exactly why it's a very real possibility that he doesn't win it. They've booked things that have pathways to it. Cody could very well ultimately show up and win the Rumble or perhaps CM Punk comes back and wins it as a surprise entrant. Or maybe Sami goes into the Rumble with the idea of protecting Roman's titles by eliminating potential threats and in doing so he ends up winning and the culmination of his story is taking one of the titles off of Roman before or at Wrestlemania. Or maybe Rock does win the Rumble and that's how that match comes about.

I love that they've booked options that a story can play out. The acknowledgement ceremony could see The Rock show up and get acknowledged more than Roman being the catalyst for a feud between the two. Maybe everyone shows up to acknowledge Roman except The Rock who no shows the 30th show altogether infuriating Roman into talking trash and calling out Rock in the following weeks that starts things. Maybe everyone but Rock shows up but he sends in the old Via satellite video of acknowledgement that pisses off Roman that he didn't tell him face to face. Maybe Rock shows up and just flat out drops him at the ceremony. I just love the idea that they've kept things interesting for me to this point.

I hope the Raw30 graphics stay beyond the one episode, that looks way cooler than what they currently have.

I hate how WWE themselves will make these kinds of things yet never actually have it for tv. It's so much better, and the work was already done.

I'd love if they went back to this theme, fits so well. I know some YouTube creators did their own mashups like this in the past, it's quite amazing how it works well with the current day roster.

The AE title and big gold title should be their 2 world title designs. It looks the best and will sell better too, isn't that the goal?

Imagine getting a "3D" (as in its like the one we have now and not the flat metal like past designs have been) AE styled title with customizable side plates, that'll be especially a big seller.

IC title I don't mind the 2000s and 2010s retro styled ones, but the 2010s design would be better with the black strap.

The old WWE US title design was fine, if all they did was "modernize" it then that would be good enough, even the new design isn't bad, it's just not an upgrade over the prior one.

Tag titles needed a new design 15 years ago.

If HHH was actually allowed to be full in charge, I'd have a big change post WM with new look titles, the draft, just give things a new era feel.

Big Gold is still the gold standard of wrestling belts imo. Elegant perfection.
