The most fan support during a 3-year run?

Was just thinking, if you look at wrestling careers....back at their peak...who had the best 3 year run?

I think if I had to list em in a Top 5.

    1. Hulk Hogan (easily #1)
    2. Stone Cold
    3. ??? Somebody old school I probably don't remember
    4. Undertaker
    5. The Rock

not sure if they had 3 year runs, but Shawn Michaels or Bret Hart would probably be a good guess...more likely Hart than HBK because HBK was a heel at times.

I would have to say the Rock, as in terms of mass media, He hosted SNL, was in the Mummy 2 a very succesful movie (not like Hogan in his crappy movies) and overall became a house hold name. For a career I think Hogan may be more famous but soon to be passed by The Rock, but for a 3 year period no one shot up like The Rock.

I'd say Rock and Hogan are pretty close with Stone Cold a distant 3rd.

Hulk Hogan owned the mid to late 80s and early 90s. He was THE man in pro wrestling until that first steroid case. So, you're right, he is easily #1.

Hmm, as far as some others go..

Stone Cold Steve Austin (97-99) and The Rock (99-01). Back to back, those two put the WWF's popularity through the roof. "Austin 3:16" is the fastest and biggest selling T-shirt the WWF/WWE has ever put out. That includes the old-school Hulkamania and Hulk Rules shirts. Raw is War was averaging 8 million viewers a week on basic cable (USA Network) during part of 1999. That's absolutely nuts, and this is with serious, serious competition around (WCW).

Mid-90s WWF was owned by Bret Hart. After Hogan slowly "died out" (only to light up again in WCW), Bret Hart carried the torch for the WWF. He's an international superstar, and has a little mainstream recognition.

Well I have been an HBK fan for like 10 years, and I would say he is definately in the top 5.

Yeah, VERY little mainstream recognition. I'm going to have to side with what Ric Flair said about Hart in his book: Hart never made any serious money in this business.

He came along at a time when wrestling, as a whole, was down. He kind of bridged the gap between the days of Hogan and the Stone Cold era, which couldn't have been easy, but I still have a big problem putting him up there with the Hogans, the Flairs, the Austins, and the Rock.

Yeah but he will always be my fav wrestler of all time and the best technical wrestler IMO still to this day.
