    Re: WWE Summerslam 8/3/24

    Ripley vs. Morgan

    *** 1/4

Solid match, overall. Some hiccups here and there. Injury angles always slow down matches. Dom's turn was kind of justified throughout the match. Mami screwed Mami.

    Bron Breakker vs. Sami Zayn

    * 1/4

Less than 6 minutes. Sloppy. Both men hit their moves, and we get the IC Title on Breakker.

    Logan Paul vs. LA Knight

    *** 3/4

Very solid match. These two guys came to play at SummerSlam! I thought the match was well played out, some hiccups here and there, but very enjoyable... especially getting the title off Paul and onto Knight.

    Bayley vs. Nia Jax

    *** 3/4

Nia Jax showed out a bit here. What has gotten into her this second run? She's a totally different wrestler. Bayley did great, per usual. The ending was brutal, and Bayley's earlier powerbomb is a great replay moment. Very excited to see Jax and Tiffy.

    Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk

    ****

CM Punk's best match in 10 years. Even better than his last AEW showdown with Samoa Joe, which was his best match there. Drew played his role well. Seth Rollins played his role well. Punk's emotions are his downfall, like they always have been. I can't wait to see what comes out of thus.

    Damian Priest vs. Gunther

    **** 1/4

Judgment Day is officially dead... or will we see a spin-off? Priest and Gunther beat the tar out of each other, and it was a lot of fun. I could see these two have a 6 month feud with 3 PLE showdowns. I'm curious who is first for Gunther as Priest is going to be doing Judgment Day stuff with Balor and Dom Dom.

    Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa

    ** 3/4

The rating is simply for the match. ***** return of Roman Reigns! That was so much fun, and what a POP! Randy and Kevin saving the day was expected. I REALLY hope Jacob is okay. He was seen walking in a boot today. Boring first half, and picked up great with the interference. I'm very ready for Bloodline Civil War, and what role Cody will have.

So re-watching the clip on WWE's YouTube channel, people in the comments have said that this was Roman's theme on Night 2 of Wrestlemania. This is the studio version of what we heard at Mania.

Edit: Hot damn... I've rewatched this clip multiple times due to the pop Roman got when he Superman Punched Solo then speared him. Roman Reigns really went through his own version of what The Rock went through. Got booed, turned heel and became a beloved heel only to end up turning into the biggest baby face.

That was one of the best Summerslam's of all time. Fantastic story telling and moving the story lines, new champions etc. Fantastic show!

Great times last night being in attendance with my family.

Just rewatched the whole thing this afternoon with my kid, and my thoughts above were confirmed.

Raw should be fun tomorrow night..

            Re: WWE Summerslam 8/3/24

I'm surprised hearing those facts that Zayn and Nia have never competed at Summerslam before. Sami especially, not a single match!?

Reminded me of when Trish screwed over Jericho for Christian (at 'Mania, I think), but with the obvious slap in the face people didn't catch the obvious turn (face turn for Rhea). [emoji2377]

Damien is definitely losing tonight and getting kicked out of the Judgement Day, now.

To be fair, even watching it on tv, even though Dom cost Rhea the match, I think people were wondering if it was on purpose, accidentally on purpose, or an accident. You didn't know if they'd just reveal what everyone suspected all along right in that moment.

Mercury has been swayed ever since those shorts.

They literally had him multiple times on TV be like "you can't have an LA Wrestlemania without LA Knight" and then they just went ahead and had an LA Wrestlemania without LA Knight...

That along with Zelina Vega not even competing on Smackdown in NYC the day before the 20th anniversary of 9/11 was also an insanely stupid decision (her dad worked in the WTC and died that day for those who dont know the context behind it).

Dude, I couldn't have hoped for a better in-person experience; that **** was fun as hell!

Cleveland got the bag this weekend..... Guardians game, Martin performance, Summerslam, and some festival all at the same time.

I liked that moment. If you know the significance behind it, it means a lot. He's had his dog with him for years at shows and now the dog is getting up there in age so this is the last time Cody will have his dog with him at a show.

And then we got Arn Anderson! I hope they can bring him back in somehow. The reason he left sucked (he was the producer behind the infamous Alicia Fox drunk house show match) but he would be great to bring back for NXT/PC.

Reset button or just next chapter, either way, things have dramatically changed for the better!

Judgment Day is no more, or did they just kick Rhea and Priest out? Rhea, Priest and maybe Carlito vs Dom, Finn and Liv? So much has changed in just a single night, it's great.

Nia as champ I'm fine with since Bayleys run did fall a bit flat. Tiffany definitely seems like she's being made to have a big face turn eventually. Wonder if Nia joins Solos side.

I've heard his new theme a bunch of times already. I was looking for his WM theme and that's what I stumbled on. It's a great theme. Probably should've debuted it the next time he appears and keep the more familiar tone for the return. Either way, im excited for his return.

                  Re: WWE Summerslam 8/3/24

Interesting revelation from Cody during the post show.

He revealed that every WWE talent got a text (or email?) from higher up with a full rundown of every legend/hall of famer who would be backstage during Summerslam, and a quick summary of them as well (to help educate the newer talent/non lifelong diehard fans who might not know or remember someone from the 90s or 80s or whenever).

Cody said it and I agree that this seems cool of them to do. Not just a general "We have Legends backstage tonight, don't be scared to stop by and say hi", but a more specific and detailed rundown of everyone who will be there. Legends being there isn't just a one way thing, maybe some Legends want to meet some superstars they're fans of, maybe a talent has a specific person they wanted to see but didn't know they were backstage.

Don't know if sports teams do this, but it would be helpful too for their players since most of those players obviously wouldn't know the teams history unless they were actual fans of that team growing up (or its an obvious history like the Lakers or Yankees).
