    Rebuilding the Cruiserweight Division

After the Rockers made their brief return, alot of us made the point that the WWE seems to under-utilize the tag team and cruiserweight divisions...with too much emphasis on the World Title picture and the IC title not even being defended at WM21. Here's some good news for the cruiserweight division:

Super Crazy is another that is rumored to be in talks with the WWE.

Who would you like to see brought in to add some life to the division? I think it's really important to add talent like Psicosis and start forming better tag teams so guys like Charlie Haas or Billy Kidman aren't lost in the mix. Opinions?

I have to agree with you. It seems all WWE looks for is big guys that can throw people around and nothing more. It just seems like everything has changed from the way it use to be when every aspect of wrestling mattered.

Hopefully if WWE is able to land a few other cruiserweights and work out the tag division then we can finally start seeing some great matches again that mean something.

They already have cruiser talent. They just simply don't use them. Or use them wrong. I don't want to see cruisers doing the "slam bang" big man type wrestling that the other guys do.

I want to see high flying, techincal, chain wrestling. THAT"S what makes cruisers exciting.....

Super Crazy sucks *** I hope they dont bring him in. Psicosis looked pretty good in the original X-division match. Though I dont see why everytime they try to feature the little guys they bring in a bunch of Mexicans.

One of the keys to having a decent CW division though is the WWE getting it through their thick skulls that you can have CW fued that doesnt involve the title. Which means while Chavo and London fued over the title its ok to have Akio and Rey fued for other reasons. That was the problem with the CW division early on. Every fued involved Rey and his belt and Rey got real old real fast.

A guy I think they should bring in would be ROH champ Austin Aries. He's not overly stiff(Like someone like Low Ki) so he wouldnt have to change his style all that much. He has a pretty good look too for a little guy IMO.... http://img.ranchoweb.com/images/stevescott/aries.jpg
He is about as close as you are gonna get to AJ Styles on the indy scene right now.

Jay Lethal is another one who I think work really well in the WWE.

I agree with both of you. Remember what they did to Taka when he came over...talk about misusing top talent!

I don't resent the WWE for trying to develop young talent, guys like Chris Masters for example. But these type of wrestlers are not of the technical prowess that they can provide great matches at the mid-card level. They need that push like John Cena has gotten or they're lost. Randy Orton was in that "regrouping stage" just recently after the WWE botched his feud with HHH. Even though it's necessary to devote TV time for them to advance with the fans, it's tough to put forth a balanced product when you're doing this so much. Personally, I loved when the WWE brought in Haas and Benjamin together as that awesome, collegient team and let them go from there. Of course, they had Angle to lead them too.

AJ is pretty incredible right now. His match with Christopher Daniels really made me a huge fan if I wasn't already. He is to TNA like RVD was to ECW when everyone stopped to watch the whole f'n show!

Good point about the lack of writing or bad writing altogether for the CWs. I remember Nitro used to really use their high flyers and fast paced wrestlers very well, and they didn't need a feud or reason to wrestle other than to put together great matches. When I see Jericho vs. Benoit and Eddy vs. Rey, it gives me some hope, even if they're not CWs.

Well if you or anyone else is interested hit me up on AIM(sven20) and I have a pretty good match of Aries against Daniels from the 03 ECWA Super 8. It was basically Austin's breakout match. H looks pretty damn good(and Daniels ALWAYS looks good) in it and he's had 2 more years to improve since then.

Another thing I thought of while I was woring tonight that would improve the CW division is.....STOP JOBBING THEM TO THE HEAVYWEIGHTS! Its hard to take them serious in their own fueds when they are getting squashed by Luther Reigns and Mark Jinkdrak in 6 minutes.

I'll definitely be hitting you up soon for that sven...I'll let you know it's CWood calling when I drop you a line.

Agreed on the jobbing. I kind of wish that wrestling was more global, like when WCW and New Japan worked together leading up to the most amazing Starcade EVER! When the WWE went to Japan, that would have been the perfect time to see guys like Liger or Otani if Vince was thinking more in terms of wrestling talent and less about his "entertainment" product. Probably would never happen, but hey...
