Five-Man Deal Sends Proctor To Reds

Cincinnati, OH - The Cincinnati Reds today completed a six-player deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Reds will send UT Ryan Freel along with pitchers Jon Coutlangus and Tom Shearn to the Dodgers in return for pitchers Scott Proctor and Greg Jones.
Ryan Freel batted .226 with 1 home run and 8 RBIs plus stole 9 bases in 41 games with the Reds this season. Pitcher Jon Coutlangus compiled a 2-3 record with a 3.65 ERA in 35 games with triple-A Louisville. Pitcher Tom Shearn compiled a 3-5 record with a 3.71 ERA in 17 games with Louisville.
Scott Proctor was 5-1 and had an ERA of 3.29 with the Dodgers in 36 games while Greg Jones was 3-3 with a 3.17 ERA in 52 appearances with triple-A Las Vegas.
Jones will be reporting to the Louisville Bats and Cincinnati will recall outfielder Corey Patterson to rejoin the Reds. Freel and Coutlangus will report to the Dodgers and Shearn will head to Las Vegas to join the 51s in triple-A.
(NOTE: The last player on the Dodgers' list, a "fake" pitcher in double-A, was used as a filler to make the deal 3-for-3)
