    Chicago Cubs: Reverse the Curse

I am using The Show 09 with Ridins rosters and a few tweaks to the sliders

Ok, here goes...I am 5-8 , 3.5 games out in last place. Fukudome is a beast, leads the league in Hits with 23 and his avg is .451! 13 games in and No HR's for Aramis? What's up with that, anyone else have him in a drought like that? Lee is horrible .103 avg, 1HR 2 RBI and has been benched for Hoffpauir who is hot, 4 HR's and 11 RBI with a .364 avg. He had 3 HR's and 7 RBI in a 4 game set vs the Cardinals.

Harden is my best pitcher at 2-1. ERA is 3.94 and has 28 K's. Sent Marshall to AAA and called up Samardzija. Bullpen is weak, will be looking to re-build it as a priority as they have blown too many games for me.

Re: Chicago Cubs: Reverse the Curse

The drought is over! Aramis hit his first Homerun of the season and made it count, A game winning one in the bottom of the eighth to lead the Cubs over the Reds 4-3. Dempster pitched great but for the 3rd time he gets a no decision. Cotts totally blows, gave up a game tying HR to Bruce in the 7th. I need a new lefty for the pen, any ideas? Marshall is out of the question, he was horrible and has been shipped to AAA.

Hoffpauir continues to rake, 2 hits and an RBI to give him 12 for the season. Fukudome now has a 12 game hitting streak and his avg is .444

Also moved Theriot up to the 7 hole, he is now hitting a robust .294. Had 2 SB's in game 2 vs the Reds. Dropped Fontenot to 8th.

Season 1, Aramis hit 42 HRs. Avg of .350

Season 2, through 70 games, he's got 3 HRs. Though his batting average is now .296, which although much lower than the .350 he put up for me in Season 1, it's still a long way from the .168 he was hitting for me through the first 30 games. He's been awesome over the last 40 games for average, but still no power. I can't figure it out.

Wow, what a drop off! Hopefully he will get on a roll for me.Aramis avg is .314 through 14 games or so. Hoffpauir & Fukudome are by far my best hitters.

Rubber game against the Reds, Reds up 3-2 in the bottom of the 5th, Cubs batting, bases loaded 2 outs and Soriano gets plunked to bring in the tying run, Fukudome next up and gets a bases clearing double to put the Cubs up 6-3. That hit extends Fukudome's hitting streak to 13 games.

Next up Aramis Ramirez, first pitch and he sends it into the Left field bleachers for a 2 run shot(2nd of the season), thats back to back games with a Homerun, now the Cubs are up 8-3. Bottom of the 8th Cubs up 8-6 Soriano Blasts one into the bleachers, Cubs now up 9-6. 2 Batters later Aramis Ramirez does it again, his second of the game and the Cubs go on to win 10-6.

I think Ramirez has ended his HR dry spell, after 12 games with none he has hit 3 in 2 days.

Took the first 2 from the Cardinals in St.Louis. Fukudome now has a 15 game hitting streak, Derrek Lee finally showed up and went 4-5 and drove in the game winning run in the top of the 11th. Cubs are now in second place,1.5 behind the Astros.

Cub Fans get out the brooms!

The Cubs swept their rivals from St.Louis 5-2 behind a solid outing from Ted Lilly(1-2).

                  LILLY:7-IP, 9-H, 0-BB, 2-K's, 2 ER.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a Rick Ankiel Solo shot off Lilly in the 3rd. The Cubs answered in the top of the 4th when Aramis Ramirez parked the first pitch of the inning into the left field seats. Still in the 4th, after a Derrick Lee Triple, Mike Fontenot hit his 3rd Homerun of the season to make it 3-1 and the Cubs would never look back.

Araimis Ramirez hit his 2nd Homerun( 5th in 4 games) in the 9th to make it 5-2 and Kevin Gregg came in to get his 7th save of the season. Gregg has yet to give up a run this season.

Kosuke Fukudome kept his hitting streak alive and it is now 16 games. The Cubs now head to the Desert to take on the D-Backs.

Re: Chicago Cubs: Reverse the Curse

After winning game 1 against the D-backs 7-2,
                    WP Dempster 1-0,2.25 LP Garland 3-1, 2.20
the Cubs saw their season high 6 game winning streak come to an end in game 2. Randy Wells couldn't get past the 4th inning as the Diamondbacks handed the Cubs an 8-1 loss.
                    WP Davis 1-3, 5.59 LP Wells 1-1, 6.95

Lou Piniella gave several starters the day off as the Cubs are in the middle of a 20 game stretch with no off days. Ryan Freel got the start in center and made the most of it going 3-4 with the Cubs lone RBI. Game 3 has a clash of the titans as "Big Z" Carlos Zambrano (2-1, 4.67) goes up against Brandon Webb (0-2, 3.09)

Re: Chicago Cubs: Reverse the Curse

                      CHI 2-7-0
                      ARZ 0-5-0

                      WP Zambrano 3-1, 3.50
                      LP Webb 0-3, 2.97

Carlos Zambrano was too much for the D-Backs as Big Z led the Cubs to a 2-0 win over Arizona. Zambrano pitched a complete game, scattering 5 hits, walked 1 and struck out 11! He totally dominated the D-backs hitters. Aramis Ramirez drove in what proved to be the winning run in the 5th with a double into left center off of LP Brandon Webb. Unfortunately Fukudome's 17 game hit steak came to an end, but Soriano has a 10 game hitting streak now. The Cubs head home to take on the Marlins tied for 2nd with the Brewers and 0.5 behind the division leading Astros.

                      Standings and stats coming soon

Marlins came into Wrigley and beat the Cubs 7-2. Harden pitched 6 solid innings allowing only 2 runs and left with the game tied. The bullpen imploded yet again, will have to start looking for help earlier than I wanted to.
