Firedogs Look to Repeat After 2029 Championship-3/20/2030



Phoenix, AZ-- After an impressive inaguraul season, in which Phoenix won the United Baseball League's first championship, they look to win it all again.
In a season when the Firedogs went 58-42, many bright spots came out on the team.
Young third baseman David Mitchell hit .350 with 9 home runs in exactly 200 at-bats. Mitchell won the 2029 Rookie of the Year award, the first ever given out.
Starting catcher Pedro Martinez was also a key part in the Firedogs' championship run. A .348 batting average was an excellent complement to his solid defense behind the plate, with just a 3.98 catchers ERA.
Ace starting pitcher Ron Brooks had a solid year with a 3.95 ERA and 137 strikeouts.

Closer McFadden Tears Labrum, Done For Year-3/22/2030

Phoenix Closer Eric McFadden tore his labrum today, the veteran pitcher was showing off his motorcycle and lost control. This is obviously a big blow to the Firedogs' bullpen, who will name a new closer as the season draws closer.
The team released a statment today. "We are extremely dissappointed in Eric's behavior, we hold our athletes to a very high standard, that being said, we will work to get him back on the field as soon as possible."

Firedogs Open Season With Win-4/19/2030

Phoenix, AZ-- It was all pitching early as both teams combined for only 1 hit in the first 3 innings. That trend quickly changed in the bottom of the fourth, as LF Mike Wise lead it off with a home run, followed by a Munoz double, who was later driven in by 3B David Mitchell.

The Hurricanes replied in the top of the 5th as the Phoenix defense faltered. SS Brad Clark reached on an error followed by a walk to Flores. An RBI single by leadoff hitter Esteban Perez got New Orleans on the board.

Back-to-back homers in the bottom of the 6th by Mitchell and 2B Wes Booth rounded out the scoring as the game ended in a 4-1 Firedog win.
