The Prodigy | Bryce Harper RTTS (MLB 10)

    The Prodigy
Remember the kid the Nationals took first overall in this year's draft? Well let's rewrite history and pretend they took him last year instead. I know what you're thinking. "But that's when they took Strasburg!" Well GTFO my thread with all that realism nonsense. This is my first RTTS that I have reported and I will try to keep it fresh with screenshots, videos and all that jazz. Thanks to Mr. Franchise whose Harper CAP I used as a guideline for creating my own.

There I am, just prior to Spring Training 2010. After the Nationals picked myself and Stephen Strasburg in the first round of the 2009 draft I couldn't wait to get my first minor league assignment and start playing some ball. Turns out I will start the 2010 season playing AA ball with the Harrisburg Senators. Man, am I nervous. So nervous that I blinked when I was getting my picture taken by the team. Those jerks wouldn't even let me take another one. My mom chewed me a new rear end when she saw that.

I guess they will have me starting in right field in Harrisburg, which is awesome because the Nationals have pretty garbage right fielders in their system so hopefully I won't be stuck in the minor leagues for the rest of my life.

Nice. I started a Harper RTTS myself. It's super fun.

EDIT: damn. I think that looks better than mine.

Opening day of the AA season and to no one's surprise I wasn't in the lineup. I'm just fine with that as long as I get a few AB's now and then. Well in the top of the 7th inning I got my chance. The manager walked over to me and told me to start warming up in the on-deck circle. "No big deal", I thought to myself until I glanced up at the scoreboard and realized we were down 4-2 with the tying run on first base. My job? Get that run home. Crap! The first plate appearance of my professional career and the game was pretty much riding on my at-bat coming with 2 outs.

After dashing back from the locker room to swap out the pair of underwear I had just soiled, it was time for me to show me stuff at the plate. The opposing pitcher (who's name I honestly can't remember because he is a fictional player from the SCEA roster) was up to over 100 pitches, giving me a golden opportunity to take advantage of his fatigue and get my first career hit.

I got robbed! After managing the count full, I got a gorgeous fastball to hit and all I could do was line it to that pesky generic 3rd baseman. Rough way to end my first AB in Double-A. By the way, we went on to lose the game 5-3. Whoops.

Got my first start at right field in this game. Hitting 3rd in the lineup should net me a few chances to show off my stuff, right? Well I was so excited I guess I forgot to bring my bat to the ballpark. My first AB of the night had some promise as I nailed the first pitch I saw into what I thought was a gap between 3rd base and shortstop. Too bad that same douchebag that robbed me of my first hit in my last game decided it would be fun to do it again. Can you believe that guy?! Not only has he screwed me out of my first 2 professional base hits, he also stole my jersey number!

Ended up 0-3 with a strikeout in my first AA start. I have a feeling it will be a while before I see my name on the lineup card again. The highlight of my night was when I was hit by a pitch in the 5th inning. My first big league bruise helped push my OBP to an astounding .200 on the season. My manager let me know the other day that one of my current goals for the next few weeks is to have an overall on-base percentage of .360. HA!

Editor's Note: I am going to start posting several games at a time soon, I just wanted to start slow and highlight some of my early milestones (first hit, walk, etc., that is if I ever actually get a hit). Things will start picking up here shortly.

I didn't get the start in this game and I was kind of bumming because of it. I guess for the time being I will be platooning in right field with Mike Morse. I instantly cheered up when in the 10th inning I was called upon to pinch hit with the game on the line yet again.
                      This is what happened:

My first multi-hit game came against the Bay Sox. What the heck is a Bay Sock?

                        5-for-5, 1 HR, 2 2B, 4 RBI

Where the hell did all this power come from?! My first AB of the game I blasted a ball to straightaway center field. My mind was literally blown when it cleared the wall. A double and a single later I found myself a triple short of the cycle. In the 9th inning in a 6-6 tie game I hit one to the gap in left center field. As I rounded 2nd base with the 3rd base coach violently signaling for me to stop running, I was not about to miss out of my triple. One small thing I forgot though was that I am slower than molasses. I mean literally that slow. With a 25 SPD rating I slid into the tag at third base and was out. CRAP. That close to hitting for the cycle. Oh well, I pretty much single-handedly won this game for my team. P.S. I still haven't figured out what a Bay Sock is.

I slapped 4 singles in this game. My average is now above .500 on the year. No big deal. If I keep hitting like this I might see myself in AAA in the foreseeable future. Awesome.

This game was over before it even started. I was able to muster an RBI in the 1st inning but it really didn't matter. Good news is I am rolling on a 5-game hitting streak right now.

                        Apparently I'm a 3rd baseman now, too.
