Pittsburgh, PA-- The Reds win a pitcher's dual against the Pirates, 2-1 despite sloppy defense. Former Gold Glover, Orlando Cabrera, commited errors number 3 and 4 today as he had a hard time getting the ball out of his glove. Another Glove Glover, Brandon Phillips, picked up his first error of the season.

Johnny Cueto went all the way as he went 9 innings of 1 run ball. Giving up 5 hits, one earned run, striking out 10 and walking none in. He threw 111 pitches with 81% of them being called strikes.

Joey Votto had his 10 game hitting streak as he went 0-4 in the game, not reaching base once. Ramon Hernandez hit a gap shot to center which the center fielder couldn't get to and the right fielder just stared at the ball as Ramon scored on an RBI triple.

Second baseman Brandon Phillips tore the ligament in his finger while trying to make a diving stop. He's expected to miss atleast a month of action. Miguel Cairo is expected to play 2nd base.

The Reds have a day off tomorrow as they fly back home to play the Dodgers of Los Angeles. It'll be Edinson Volquez (1.0 2.35) coming off a shutout against Vicente Padilla (0-2 9.00) of LA.

Cincinnati, OH-- 9 is the number. 9 is how many games in a row the Reds have won as they edge out the Dodgers, 4-2. Edinson Volquez picked up his 2nd victory of the season as his line went 7 innings, giving up 8 hits, 2 earned runs, walking 1 and striking out 5. Masset pitched a perfect 8 with one strike out to pick up his 3rd hold and Cordero gave up one hit in the 9th to pick up his 3rd save.

Scott Rolen extended his impressive hitting streak to 11 as he went 3 for 4, scoring once, drove in two, and also hit a solo shot. Center fielder Drew Stubbs' bat finally came alive as he went 2 for 3 while hitting his first homer in the campaign.

Cincinnati, OH-- It took 12 innings for the Reds to extend their winning streak to 10 after they defeat the LA Dodgers, 5-4. It took one swing of the bat of left hander, Joey Votto to end it as he crushed his 9th home run of the season.

Homer Bailey pitched 6 innings giving up 9 hits, 3 earned runs, while striking out 4. Everybody with the exception of Francisco Cordero stepped in to pitch. Micah Owings threw 2 scoreless frames while giving up 2 hits to earn his first win of the year. The only reliever to give up a run was Mike Lincoln which he gave up a home run to Andre Ethier in the 8th which certainly did not help his ERA.

Scott Rolen extended his hitting streak to 12 games after a base hit in the 10th. Miguel Cairo picked up his first steal of the season by stealing 2nd base in the 4th. Everybody but Janish came in to either field or bat. Jay Bruce had an impressive game by going 4-5 with 3 runs scored, knocked in 2, homered and doubled.

The Reds look to bring out the brooms while extending their win streak to 11 as Aaron Harang (2-0 2.37) takes the mound against LA's Russ Ortiz (1-0 5.79).

Cincinnati, OH-- The Reds showed they were a team of humans after their 10 game winning streak was snapped in the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers, 10-4. This game showed alot of offense as both clubs scored a combined 16 runs off of 24 hits. Scott Rolen kept his hot streak going after going 3 for 4 and hit a 2 run homer in the 1st inning. The wind was part to blame for the high scoring contest, blowing 20 mph toward center field. It also might've helped LA's Casey Blake, who smashed a 449ft home run to the Party Deck in center field.

"It was tough loss, a rough loss to break a long winning streak. The guys have played great all year long. If there wasn't any wind tonight, Blake's home run would've probably the only home run that wasn't an out. We'll just have to put this game a side, focus on San Diego and hope to start a new streak." Baker told reporters at the post game confrence.

Bronson Arroyo (2-0 1.89) will take the mound for Cincy as Chris Young (0-3 5.14) will take the mound for the Padres.

Cincinnati, OH - Nice win for the Redlegs as they score a victory over the San Diego Padres.

The Reds escaped with a narrow victory last night, beating the Padres, 4-3 in front of 21,092 at GABP. All runs by the Reds came off solo shots from Chris Dickerson, Joey Votto, Jay Bruce, then a pinch-hit homer by Laynce Nix. Bronson Arroyo picked up win number 3, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits in over 7 innings. Francisco Cordero pitched a 1-hit 9th to earn his 4th save.

Drew Stubbs had to sit out for last night's game after feeling stiffness in his lower back during batting practice. He will most likely not go on the DL.

The Reds and Padres will hook up again today, with Johnny Cueto (1-0 4.26) and Jon Garland (0-1 4.80) the sheduled starters.

Reds Get The Better Of Jon Garland In Win
                        April 25th, 2010

Cincinnati, OH -- Sending their fans home with something to cheer about (well, until they hit traffic), the Reds pounded the Padres, 11-2, yesterday with 22,938 on hand at Great American Ballpark. Jonny Gomes carried the club, going 3-4, with a double, a home run and 5 RBI. Only allowing 2 runs (both earned) on 6 hits, over 7 innings, while striking out 7, Johnny Cueto was able to reach win #2 for the season.

Reds' skipper Dusty Baker offered some comments about the game. "We got to [Jon] Garland quickly and forced him out and made them go their bullpen a lot sooner than expected. He never got into good rhythm and we capitalized on it." The blowout didn't please the Padres too much as 2nd baseman David Eckstein was ejected after arguing with the 1st base umpire about being called out on a ground out.

The Reds look to bring their brooms as the series wraps up later today with Edinson Volquez (2-0 2.42) taking the mound for Cincy, against Kevin Correia (0-1 3.86) of San Diego.

Grand Slam Helps Reds Sweep Padres
                          April 26th, 2010

Cincinnati, OH -- Late inning heroics helps Reds squeeze by San Diego, 9-8. The 8th inning rally started off a double by pinch-hitting Laynce Nix to left center. Mike Adams threw a wild pitch which helped Nix advance. Stuck in a 2-2 count, Dickerson sends one over the left field wall for a 2 run homer and cuts the lead to 1 run. Cairo and Votto follow with doubles. After Rolen was intentionally walked, and Bruce and Gomes strike out, backstop Ramon Hernandez grand slams one to left to give the Reds a 3 run advantage.

The Reds will take a day off to head to Houston as their next 6 games will be away from GABP. Cincinnati's Homer Bailey (1-1 4.34) will be starting the series in his home state against Houston's Brian Moehler (0-2 9.88).
