Jared Hulse - Knuckleballer
Intresting 1st Round Pick for St. Louis

Secaucus, NJ-- Day one was easy for St. Louis.
They only had one pick to use, and chose an intresting route with it. An intresting path was taken, and the end result was 19-year old pitcher Jared Hulse being selected 22nd overall. I took the time to look at this kid, and here is what I came up with.
First off, he throws a knuckleball. If he were in the bigs right now, he'd only be 2nd active player currently that throws a knuckler (R.A. Dickey). This could cause havoc for those minor league catchers, and will make the catching situation intresting in St. Louis. Also in his repertoire is a low-90's fastball and a knuckle-curve. He is a "control over velocity" pitcher, which could come back to haunt him if a pitch finds the middle of the plate. He'll have to work on making that knuckler and knuckle-curve as effective as possible.
Hulse will be playing for the Cardinals in the Gulf Coast League.Comment
