I will be updating this as often as I can. I will not be playing any spring training games or posting about them. Here we go!MLB: Cincinnati Reds

A home crowd of 42, 271 fans witnessed the Reds win a tight 2-1 decision with the Marlins, giving the club a tough one-run victory. Mat Latos allowed 4 hits and 1 run in 7 innings, while striking out 3 to help him collect win number 1 of the season for himself and the Reds on Opening Day. They started out strong with nice pitching. This was quickly followed by a deep home run in the 2nd inning from the Reds' 3rd baseman, Scott Rolen. The Marlins came back with a nice sacrifice hit from Hanley Ramirez, their 3rd baseman. In the 6th inning, after a triple from Brandon Phillips, Joey Votto hit a single to the shortstop to bring in the run. The Player of the Game was the starter for the Reds, Mat Latos. Reds' manager Dusty Baker on the win, "I think Mat [Latos] played great tonight, he gave us 7 strong innings and gave up only 1 run. Defense was great, no errors, this is what you look for in a team. I think the Marlins played a great game too, Buehrle is a good pitcher, but he just made a couple of mistakes and we capitalized on them. Today's game was for sure a nail-biter, and I've got no nails left. But I've also got the win, and I'll make that trade any day of the week." The Reds look to play the 2nd game of this three game series with the Marlins on April 7th. The projected starters are Johnny Cueto (0-0) for the Reds, and Anibal Sanchez (0-0) for the Marlins.Cincinnati Reds PITCHERS IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA M. Latos (W, 1-0) 7.0 4 1 1 1 3 0 1.29 S. Pacing the offense was Scott Rolen, who drove in 1 run and went 2-for-4 on the day. Johnny Cueto (0-1) was roughed up in the defeat, as he only pitched 3 innings, giving up 6 runs on 9 hits.
Dusty Baker on the game, "Anibal Sanchez is a tough match-up for everyone, so it wasn't surprising a tough righty like him was able to shut us down."
The series ends tomorrow, and toeing the rubber for the Reds will be Bronson Arroyo (0-0, 0.00), who will face the Marlins' Ricky Nolasco (0-0, 0.00)Last edited by flyer1985; 04-03-2012, 08:10 PM.MLB: Cincinnati Reds
