Bad news came in from the trainer's room. The tests showed that J.D. Drew suffered a concussion and is done for the season.

J.D. Drew is going to be placed on the 60-day disabled list. Outfielder Yamaico Navarro is going to be called up from Pawtucket (AAA). In 73 games, Navarro was batting .286 with 15 home runs and 56 runs batted in. He will be here backing up the outfielders until Carl Crawford is able to come off of the DL.

Ryan Doumit to Rays



It came down to a self-imposed trade deadline, but the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Rays finally came to an agreement on a trade that has been rumored for weeks. The trade sends Pittsburgh's 30-year old catcher Ryan Doumit to Tampa Bay in a swap for 25-year old minor league right fielder Brandon Guyer and 22-year old minor league starting pitcher Braulio Lara. Both GMs seemed relieved that the deal had been completed with one stating, "We had to set a deadline to get it done." The players are expected to report to their new teams by tomorrow.

Currently Doumit is batting .290 with 2 home runs, 12 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
