Ricky Boldin - A Legacy will be Created
Hey guys, this is going to be the career of Ricky Boldin, I started this very late in my season, I'm in the first year and nearing the futures game, was just promoted to AAA, was hitting .379 with 23 HRs in AA(was destroying). So I'll be posting updates every game or two and I hope you guys have a fun time following! He is an CF(trying to convert to SS I screwed up)Tags: None -
Re: Ricky Boldin - A Legacy will be Created
Ricky Boldin was just a normal kid, he was pretty smart with good grades, loved all sports and was on the computer or playing video games 95% of the time. But, when he was playing baseball, he wasn't ordinary. He always swung early, and had a very unorthodoxed swing. He had so much power but never hit HRs. Only doubles. His coaches ripped him for it and always tried to fix it. The scouts never believed in him. He was batting over .375 in high school, led the league in doubles, BA and runs scored, was also up there in RBIs, but scouts just said "He'll be a disappointment the way he plays." So when Boldin said he'll try and get drafted, he didn't have a doubt he wouldn't be drafted at all. But his life changed when he saw he was drafted by Boston, and he almost feinted when he saw it.
AA Time -
Boldin started off batting 9th and eventually moved up to the 3 or 5 spot in the lineup. He crushed AA hitting .375 with 22 HRs. He fixed his swing up a little bit, and now instead of just being the leader in doubles and runs, he moved it up to doubles, BA, HRs, RBIs, runs, and was up there in speed. He got moved up to AAA before the features game. This was a legacy indeed. -

AAA - Game 1
Ricky Boldin AAA debut was good, starting at SS, he went 1-4 with an SB and got HBP. He had two assists in the field and showed he can play. Not starting full time, game two approaches, and if he can get a couple hits in this game he could look at a full time AAA job.
AAA - Game 2
Boldin had a reasonable game going 1-4 with an RBI and an SB. He had 3 putouts in CF today and is making a case for a starting job.
AAA - Game 3
Boldin was pretty good in game 3, although he got CS he had 3 assists, 1 putout, 2 singles and the two ABs he wasn't on base he crushed on into the OF to get the man over.
Boldin was off to a good start batting .333 his first 3 games.Last edited by KingFry; 06-15-2013, 12:06 PM.Comment

AAA Game 5 - Milestones are reached!
Although Boldin is trying to change to an SS, his coach keeps denying it. He has played their a couple of games in AAA, but in game 5 he played CF. Boldin at the plate... 1-2 count... the pitch.. BOLDIN CRUSHES IT IN THE GAP! THATS HIS FIRST EXTRA BASE HIT AND IT'S AN RBI TOO! Overbay up now... hits one into CF... Boldin running in, he isn't playing it on the bounce, IT'S A SHOE STRING CATCH! BOLDIN, THROWS TO THE PLATE... HE GETS HIM! SPECTACULAR PLAY BY BOLDIN! After the two milestones by Boldin he hit a single and another double, and through another guy out at third! He had his first AAA extra base hit, and his second and through his first two guys out! A great game for Boldin!
Boldin was still not playing full time and batting 8th and kept complaining to the coaches, and they kept saying the same exact thing "Give me quality ABs from your spot and when you play keep giving us good games"
Boldin replied screaming "YOU KNOW WHAT? I'm going to prove you wrong!" The coaches looked at him puzzled and he ran to the cages.
Boldin proved them wrong alright. The next game he played he had 2 singles 2 double decker HRs, a double, a SB, and a diving grab. The final score was 21-7 and Boldin was 5-6 and the player of the game.Comment

Re: Ricky Boldin - A Legacy will be Created
After the spectacular game by Boldin, he got called to coach's office,
Hello Ricky, take a seat.
Look Rick, I know you're mad about being at the bottom of the lineup, and not starting full time like AA, but we just don't have room for you in the lineup, we'll eventually get you there.
Boldin didn't stop trying though, the next game he had a triple in a 1-4 game. Next game he was 2-4 with a double. He has been red hot since keeping a consistent BA of .440+ and has an 8 game hit streak. He has also been playing more consistently, usually he'll play 5-6/10 games instead of only 2-3.Comment

Re: Ricky Boldin - A Legacy will be Created
Boldin had just gone 0-4 and ended his hit streak when he was called into Coach Disarcina's office.
"Hello Ricky, take a seat"
Ricky took a seat.
"Coach, just please don't--" he was cut off right before he could sent me down.
"Ricky, I'm sorry to tell you..."
"B-b-b-but but but..."
"You're getting the starting job"
"No! Plea- wait, what?!?! I have the... t-t-hank thank you coach!"
"Just keep up the hard work and dedication son, you're a great player"
"I'm honored coach."
"Well, get out there and play some good ball!"

Following the starting job Boldin proved no one will take it from him, going 1-4 with a diving catch in the OF.

.397. 3 HRs. 18 RBIs. 3 diving grabs. 18 years old, in AAA. 14 games played. Those are the stats of Ricky Boldin. Boldin was batting .375 with 22 HRs in AA. These stats were in 200 ABs. He led AA in diving grabs with.. what was it? 11? 12? So many I can't remember. The kid is a stud in the field and amazing at the plate. He is trying to convert to SS and is doing a hell of a job at it, as when he has played there he hasn't made an error yet. Now let me tell you about this kid in... categories. If I kept this at one paragraph it'd be to long of a paragraph, so lets spread it out.
Ricky Boldin: Speed: One undervalued aspect of baseball: Speed. Boldin is 18 and is bound to get faster, but some scouts call him a somehow speedier version of Juan Pierre. I think he could become the new Ricky Henderson. He already has 5 SBs and in AA he had 26. 31 overall. That is spectacular for an 18 year old who is no where near his true potential. He has a good feeling of when to run as well. He knows when to go back to the base to tag up and when to run to home, as he has never been thrown out going for an extra base or going for home. That right there is a spectacular stat.
Ricky Boldin: Fielding: Another important aspect of the game, fielding. Boldin has an AAA .994 fielding %. He has no errors at SS, and 1 in the OF. He didn't have an error in AA and has great arm strength. He has thrown out two guys in AAA and threw out a whopping number of 16 in AA. He has made tons of diving grabs as said above, and is speedy and agile.
Ricky Boldin: Hitting: Boldin hitting... he is like Hank Aaron, Pete Rose, Ty Cobb, and Ricky Henderson in one. Speed, agression, power, contact, discipline, and a quick bat. He has hit a whopping 81% of his balls in play to the left side(or right he is switchy) of the infield/outfield(who wants to know how long it took me to figure that out, and how I did it... jesus....). He has hit 16% of his balls in play down the left field(or right he is a switchy) line. Why is this helpful? It means pitchers like Aroldis Chapman won't make a difference to him. The good thing is, he has struck out only 4 times on pitches under 80 MPH, as they don't affect him like most would think it would. This leads me to another category, strike outs. He only has 4 SOs in AAA and had 13 in AA(so hard to find these AA stats). He always makes contact. From normal stats he shows he has contact and power, but these stats show a lot more. Boldin also has 16 RC in AAA already. He has a fine OBP of .417 and his OBP was .415(something like that) in AA. He sure can hit.
Scouts say Boldin is the new Hank Aaron, Pete Rose, Ty Cobb and Ricky Henderson in one. I sure think he is.
-------------------------------------------
You don't want to know how long it took to get those stats.

Re: Ricky Boldin - A Legacy will be Created
Paul Molitor was watching the PawSox and was shaken when the crowd started cheering "OH YEAH, OH YEAH, THE BEST, THE BEST, THAT'S HIM RIGHT THERE" When some kid with the number 17 came up. He got in his stance and took a whack at the first pitch he saw. Gone. Double decker. The words that came out of Molitor's mouth were "That's a... holy cow... that's a future star for ya right there..."Comment

Re: Ricky Boldin - A Legacy will be Created
"Want do you want for Boldin?"
"Who are you interested in on our team? We want number 17."
"We really like Boldin, we'll be willing to give a lot"
The Red Sox had around a call at least once from 26 teams saying this exact same thing. Although, the front office was pretty annoyed having to say no, 26 times.
----------------------------------------
Boldin, 2-0 the count, takes a big swing but it only makes it to the pitcher, and thats the inning.
Boldin, runs to his left, makes the catch, throw to third... not in time he slides in safe!
Boldin, crushes a high one into CF... deep deep... warning track... oh it's caught!
Boldin flies out again on the first pitch and is now 0-3.
Boldin.... FIRST PITCH SWINGING, CRUSHED! OH NOT FAR ENOUGH!
Boldin up, bottom of the 9th tie games no out man on first... big spot... takes a splitter for a strike that looked to be a bit outside.. swings and fouls it away, 0-2 STRUCK HIM OUT! Boldin is now 0-5 on the day in a terrible game so far.
Boldin up again, in the bottom 11th, still tied, man on first no out. Boldin takes a pitch in the dirt 1-0, takes a splitter outside, 2-0. BOLDIN RIPS HIS FIRST HIT OF THE GAME INTO RIGHT! Thats a big hit right there as the winning run is now in scoring position!
GAME WINNER! Huff scores in an RBI single! If it wasn't for Boldin none of it would have happened though!Comment
