BREAKING: Cain Injured, Jays Shake Up Roster
    BEN NICHOLSON-SMITH
    JUNE 06 2015

With Lorenzo Cain injuring his knee diving for a ball in the outfield, the Blue Jays have shaken up their roster.

In a press release, the club announced that OF Seth Smith (.130/.213/.259) was designated for assignment, and OF Kevin Pillar (.167/.259/.250) was sent to Buffalo. To replace them, the club has purchased the contracts of SS Andy Burns (.359/.399/.516) and OF Jesus Montero (.373/.419/.701). Burns will take over backup middle infielder duties, with Chris Taylor taking over the starting job in center. It is expected that when Cain is back in the lineup, one will be sent to Buffalo. It is not known where Montero fits in, but his hot start was too much to ignore for GM Andrew Tinnish, and the club appears eager to get Montero reps.

Jays Acquire Catcher Castillo from Cubs
          BEN NICHOLSON-SMITH
          JUNE 03 2015

The Blue Jays have announced they have sent DFA'd OF Seth Smith and RHP Chase Anderson to the Chicago Cubs for C Welington Castillo. Castillo, 27, has slashed .272/.352/.391 in 184 AB in AAA. He adds catcher depth to the organization as well as another bat that can hit lefties.

Smith slashed .130/.213/.259 for the Jays this year, while Anderson posted a 2.20 ERA and 30 SO to 6 BB in a relief role for the AAA Bisons this year. Anderson will get stretched out before joining the Cubs' rotation.

Lol so i kind of didn't see some things happening in the draft (Josh Naylor 12?? Justin Hooper announcing he won't sign at all?? wtf) that directly affect this team. Anyone mind if I make a couple changes?

I personally don't care. I kind of ran into the same thing with my franchise (Kyler Murray and Jameis Winston) although I didn't think of it until you mentioned it haha.

I've heard that sound 3 times... once was Babe Ruth, the second was Josh Gibson, and the third was Bo Jackson- Buck O'Neil

Well I don't think it was entirely difficult to see Winston coming, lol

Murray I have plans for, will probably include him even if he does play football cause he's not a marginal talent like Jameis, he'd be an upper-first rounder in baseball.

                Changes made, post updated.

Jays Call-Up O'Neill, Send Down Taylor
                    CANADIAN PRESS
                    JUNE 09 2015

In a press release today, the Blue Jays announced that they have optioned SS Chris Taylor to AAA Buffalo, and have called up OF Mike O'Neill in a corresponding move. Taylor, hitting just .182 with no home runs, hit .222 in limited action with the Jays last year after being acquired for RHP Sergio Santos.

O'Neill, a center fielder signed as an MiLB free agent from the St. Louis Cardinals, has gotten on base at a .431 clip in 31 games at the AAA level this year.

Jays Transfer Grilli to 15-Day DL; Call-Up Osuna
                          CANADIAN PRESS
                          JUNE 14 2015

After taking a ball off of the finger and suffering a finger contusion, Jason Grilli has been transferred to the 15-day DL. Recalled to take his roster spot is RHP Roberto Osuna, who has dominated AAA with 41 strikeouts in 32.1 innings and a 2.23 ERA with the Bisons. Osuna will pitch out of the bullpen, and Brandon Beachy will take over as closer.

                              Trade Deadline Tracker

June 20: Philadelphia Phillies trade 1B Ryan Howard to the Seattle Mariners for RHP Fernando Rodney, OF Charlie Blackmon, LHP Brandon Maurer

The Phillies finally get out of Howards' massive contract as they continue their rebuild. Howard, hitting .284 with 14 home runs so far this season, has been productive, but comes with a steep contract. He's sent to Seattle for Fernando Rodney, a closer who's posted a 3.79 ERA and 19 saves; however, his low ERA has been in part due to a high LOB%; his 1.47 WHIP suggests he could be due for an implosion. That likely doesn't matter to the Phillies, as he was included in the deal for his $8.5 million contract. Blackmon, the struggling outfielder, is hitting just .229 with 4 homers so far. Blackmon has plus speed and defense with some potential at the plate. Maurer, stuck in AAA, was posting ridiculous stats, such as a 1.92 ERA and 92 strikeouts to just 12 walks, leading to a 7-1 record.
