Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)

Saw you asking about trades for this in the trade thread and decided to take a look. Really like what you're doing here man, you've inspired me to put the time in to make trades for all contending teams in my franchise. I think that's the most realistic thing to do and will make the franchise even more fun.

So far I've been doing the trades that have happened and will wait for the rest of the trade deadline to pass in real life. But if trades don't happen and I feel like I need to make some of my own I'll be doing that for the contending teams by judging buyers and sellers. Cool idea.

Anyway, you've got another follower in me man.

      MONTH OF JULY RECAP

The Month of July was a very good month for the Seattle Mariners on and off the field. On the field, the M's went a MLB best 19-6 including including winning 11 of their past 13 games since the All-Star break.

So how did the M's have such success on the field. Well that can be contributed to what happened off the field.

GM "The Deuce" acquired 4 Right handed bats in OF/DH J. Willingham (.266 13 HR 45 RBI), UTIL T. Plouffee (.248 14 HR 57 RBI), 1B/OF S. Van Slyke and C G. Laird. bring more balance to the lineup as well as Switch hitter E. Bonifacio (team leading 17 SB's)

However not all the success can be attributed to in-season trading.

The Mariners rotation led by 13 game winners Felix Hernandez (3-1 with a 2.27 ERA in his past 4 starts) and Chris Young (4-0 with a 1.86 ERA in his past 4 starts, and the addition of H. Iwakuma off the DL (2-0 with a 1.53 ERA in his past 2 starts) and rookie T. Walker (3-0 with a 3.72 ERA in his first 3 starts) can take alot of credit as well, but when you really get down to it even that is not the only other reason why the M's are 18 games above .500 going into August (63-45).

When the Mariners signed RF/1B/DH Corey Hart, it was to a 5 million dollar 1 year deal with a additional 8 million in incentives for a total of 13 million.

Well Mr. Hart enjoy that 13 million because you earned it. So far through July Hart is currently in the running for the AL MVP as he enters August hitting .304 with 31 HR's and 95 RBI's.

Another key addition to the Mariners this past off-season was the signing of Closer F. Rodney who joined Hart and King Felix on the AL All-star team. Going into August, Rodney has saved 36/38 games including a perfect 10/10 in his last 10 attempts, well posting a 1.96 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in 36 IP giving the M's one of the best shutdown CP's in the game.

But Rodney is just 1 man out in the Mariners excellent Bullpen

      LHP J. Russell 5-0 1.47 ERA 49 IP
      LHP J. Beimel 1-0 .188 ERA 14 IP
      LHP L. Luetge 5-4 1 save 2.55 ERA in 24 IP
      RHP D. Farquhar 1-2 2 saves 1.93 ERA in 32 IP
      RHP S. Pryor 2-1 0.96 ERA in 9.1 IP
      RHP D. Leone 1-0 2 saves 3.44 ERA in 18.1 IP

But again 63 wins wasn't just because of 1 man or a small group of men. It's because of 25+ men.

Here is a look at some other key members of the 63 wins so far his season.

      3B Kyle Seager-.284 15 HR 50 RBI

      SS Brad Mller-.261 12 HR 44 RBI

      2B R. Cano-.262 (.285 vs RHP) 18 HR 46 RBI

      LF D. Ackley-.261 (.280 vs RHP) 6 HR 24 RBI

      1B J. Smoak-.242 (.268 vs LHP) 12 HR 36 RBI

      The Deuce
"I am excited to see what August brings us. It's going to be a busy month. We have 26 games with only 4 days off. 12 of those games are on the road including a 9 game road trip from the 15th to the 24th. I know some people are wondering. Can we match the 116 win total? The answer is no. Yes we have 53 games left but we would have to win all 53 of them to finish 117-45. Is that going to happen. Not even in the video game world of MLB "The Show" is it possible.. Could we win 100? Well that would be 36-17 over the course of the next 2 months. Is it possible yes and that my friends is our goal"

        DOWN ON THE FARM REPORT

Well the M's are having success in Seattle, the Tacoma Rainers 37 minutes south have not found that to be the same for them.

Yes Tacoma enters August above .500 at (59-54) and yes they have won 7 of their past 10 games but that still is only good for 3rd place in the PCL Pac North as they find themselves 9 GB of the Reno Aces (68-45) and 8 GB of the Sacramento River Cats (67-46. Only a (40-73) Fresno Grizzlies team keeps them out of last place.

Here is a look at some of the top performers at AAA

        SP E. Ramirez 8-4 with a 2.04 ERA 12/15 QS
        SP B. Maurer 9-6 with a 4.70 ERA and 116 K's
        SP J. Pries 8-8 with a 2.94 ERA and 123 K's 4 CG/4 Shutouts
        SP J. Nieman 6-2 with a 2.36 ERA in 11 starts since signing as a F.A.

        LHP RP N. Hill 2-1 with a 3.13 ERA in 23 IP
RHP CP C. Smith 29/31 saves 0.64 ERA in 28 IP.

        IF T. Kelly-.307 with 10 SB's in 322 AB's
        IF/OF N. Franklin-.302 4 HR 38 RBI in 169 AB's
        IF N. Tebrink-.297 12 HR 52 RBI in 310 AB's
        OF J. Morban-.286 8 HR 39 RBI 7 SB's in 283 AB's
        1B J. Choi-.283 11 HR 58 RBI in 413 AB's
        IF/OF S. Romero-.281 2 HR 13 RBI in 128 AB's, hitting .321 vs LHP
        SS C. Taylor-.262 4 HR 51 RBI 14 SB's in 455 AB's
        1B/DH/C J. Montero-.247 11 HR 33 RBI in 255 AB's

        * 1B/3B DJ Peterson is currently hitting .250 with 2 RBI's in 36 AB's since moving up and SP E. Diaz is 1-4 with a 4.39 ERA in 5 starts since coming up as well*

The Jackson Generals won the 1st half of the SL North putting them into the playoffs which is good because so far in the 2nd half they are 21-20 and are currently 4.0 GB of the Tennessee Smokies.

        On the Mound

Victor Sanchez is ready for a promotion as he is 13-5 with a 2.39 ERA with 7 complete games and 4 shutouts pitching 15 of 22 Starts logging 158 IP

Tyler Pike is 10-3 with a 3.17 ERA and also has pitched 15 of 21 QS logging 136 IP.

RP E. Pagan is 0-2 with a 3.60 ERA but has saved 12/16 games

RP S. Kohlscheen is 2-3 with a 2.78 ERA pitching 74 IP of relief.

        At the Plate

OF A. Wilson continues to shine hitting .295 with 15 HR and 59 RBI in 356 AB's.

Fellow OF G. Guerrero has 14 HR and 44 RBI well hitting .247 in 356 AB's.

        3B P. Kivlehan is hitting .250 with 10 HR and 52 RBI in 436 AB's

SS K. Marte is hitting .270 with 4 HR and 38 RBI in 371 AB's and leads the team in SB's with 12 of 17.

        The Deuce
"At this point we have some guy's who have are performing well and are ready to give us some help come September. Obviously have guy's like T. Walker and H. Iwakuma miss time at the beginning of the year will help as their arms don't have a ton of IP on them yet, but it will be nice to get E-Ram back up to maybe take a start or 2 from Felix and I would really like to see what J. Nieman might offer us in a long relief type role and well Rodney is in no danger of losing his job at the 9th IP guy, having a guy like C. Smith pitching the 8th makes are bullpen just that much better. I really hope that DJ Peterson can turn things on this next 2 months in AAA. It would be really nice to see how close he is to a MLB roster for 2015, but unless we start seeing something, it might be better to ship him back to Jackson where he can help us win a AA Championship"

Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)

Welcome to the July edition of "The Run Down" where you get to hear what's going around the league in the MLB.

We saw a very active Trade Deadline with 17 deals happening including a blockbuster in Boston as well as several of the Top Prospects in Baseball switching teams.

Pittsburgh has be considered a huge winner as they add top arms Z. Lee and R. Stripling to go with G. Gole, J. Taillon and T. Glasnow plus a pretty solid J. Locke. Expect Taillon, Lee and Glasnow (all in AAA) to make a showing come Sept.

Chicago Cubs also have to be considered pretty big winners in the rebuilding effort. After already adding SS A. Russell and OF B. McKinney earlier in the year, Chicago went after some arms in later deals acquiring R. Erlin, D. Hale, and B. Beavan in later deals.

The biggest announcement out of the Northside has to be Top Prospect J. Baez making his MLB debut at 2B. Joining him in a early promotion from AA if OF J. Soler who is taking over RF.

3B/OF K. Bryant looked like he was on the fast track after demolishing AA pitching. He was sent to AAA Iowa but after 19 AB's and a .105 BA, Bryant hit the D.L. with a sprained ligament in his knee. Well he has less then 1 week left on the D.L. Reports are the injury will likely keep him from making a Sept debut.

Well Bryant won't likely be in a Cubbie uni in 2014, SS A. Russell likely will. Russell since coming over and reporting to Iowa, is hitting .422 with 7 HR's 24 RBI and 6 SB's in 83 AB's. Reports are Russell will likely go to 3B for the time being until the Cubs Front office can convince S. Castro to lay 2B with Baez likely going to 3B.

So many wonder what will happen to current 3B M. Olt (.249 8 HR 32 RBI). Reports are he is headed to LF with Junior Lake likely making the shift to CF for the rest of 2014.

Going into August, the "Hunt for October" is a heated race.

            NL EAST

3 team are still in the hunt. Atlanta (61-48) goes in with a 3 game lead over Washington (57-51) and a 5 game lead over Philadelphia (56-53), well the Nat's are 1.5 GB in the NL WC and the Phillies are 3.0 GB.

            NL CENTRAL

It appears that the Cincinnati Reds are likely going to lock up the division as they have won 8 of their past 10 games and are currently (68-40) which happens to be the best record in baseball.

Well St Louis (61-47) are 7 GB of the Reds they are currently in first place in the NL WC with a 3 game lead for the #1 spot.

            NL WEST

The San Diego Padres (60-48) have some breathing room with a 1.5 game lead on the Dodgers and Rockies after winning 6 of their past 10.

1.5 GB in the West, but the Dodgers and Rockies (both 59-50) are currently tied for the #2 WC spot, 1.5 games up on the Nationals

The Giants (57-52) are 3.5 GB in the division but are just 2 games back of the Dodgers and Rockies in that #2 WC spot leaving this the most exciting division to watch.

            AL EAST

Once considered one of the toughest divisions in baseball, the East has been all Toronto this year. The Blue Jays (68-42) are currently batting the Reds for the best record in baseball and have a 10 game lead on Boston, 11 games on Baltimore and 14 games on the Tampa Bay

Well the division is out of question, Boston (56-52) currently owns the #1 WC spot with a 1 game lead on the Texas Rangers who are tied with Baltimore at (56-22)

            AL CENTRAL

It's a 2 horse race. Kansas City is (57-51) and hold a 1.5 game lead over Detroit (55-42). The loser joins the AL WC where Detroit is currently 0.5 GB of the O's and Rangers and 1.5 GB of the Red Sox.

            AL WEST

Have the Seattle Mariners (63-45) won the west? With 3 home games vs the Rangers in August and 4 games on the road in September a 7 game lead might not be big enough to call it a lock quite yet. Especially when you figure in that Seattle plays Atlanta (2), Toronto (7 3 at home 4 on the road), Detroit (3), Philly (3), Boston (3), Washington (3), plus start the month of August on the road with 3 games at Baltimore.

On top of still having to play the Angles 7 times (4 on the road and close out the regular season at home with 3 games) Plus have 2 series with both Oakland and Houston (3 at home against each and 3 on the road against both)

So Texas (56-52) will likely put the M's in the sites well focusing on the AL WC, well Los Angeles (52-56) will hope to turn things around after losing 7 of their past 10 including 5 straight. The Halo's are just 4 games back in the fight for the #2 AL WC, but with 4 teams ahead of them, that might be just to many hungry hippos in the fight.

Thanks. At this point I would be very happy with 100 wins and the division. As you will see in my MLB Run Down writeup my schedule is pretty tough with 26 games inside the West and 14 of those on the road.

My September schedule is brutal with just 1 day off on Sept 11th, which means I play 17 straight games going into Oct, including 11 straight on the road.

So if we come out with above .500 record over that stretch I will say we will be well playoff battle tested..

I just have to cross my fingers and hope I don't have any major injuries.

                THE PRICE WASN'T RIGHT

When the Seattle Mariners failed to make a deal for Tamp Bay ace David Price (10-8 3.79 ERA), many people questioned the non-move by Mariners GM "The Deuce"

Well after watching Taijuan Walker win his 4th straight game since coming to "The Show" with a complete game 3 hit 1 run 5 K performance in the Mariners Game 3 victory over Baltimore (8-1), I believe "The Deuce" made the right call.

Well Walker might not ever be a CY Young winner, his 4-0 record and 2.54 ERA sure has him looking like one right now.

Here is a complete Recap of all 3 games.

                Game 1 M's fall (7-6)

Rookie starter J. Paxton gave up 5 runs/2 earned on 9 hits over 6 IP well striking out 3 but factored into a no-decision as L. Luetge took the loss giving up a 2-run HR to C. Davis in the 7th.

At the Plate, Kyle Seager went 2/4 with 2 runs scored well hitting a HR and driving in 4 runs.

                J. Smoak went 2/2, well D. Ackley went 2/5 with a run scored.

                Game 2 M's win (9-5)

                C. Hart goes yard hitting a 2 run-HR in the 11th inning as the M's rally to score 4 runs total.

                D. Leone picked up the "W" in relief going 2 2/3 giving up 2 hits well striking out 5.

                F. Rodney picked up his 37th save of the season.

                Game 3 M's win (8-1)

                Walker wins #4 (see above)

At the plate, Hart goes yard once again (2-run shot) as he continues to hold onto the #1 spot in the AL MVP race.

                R. Cano goes 3/5 including a 3 run HR and scores 2 runs.

                S. Van Slyke started in CF and went 2/4 with a run scored. He is hitting .416 in this first 6 games.

                  HOME SWEET HOME!!

After winning 2 of 3 from the O's to start the month of August, the M's returned home to Seattle for a 9 game home stand at Safeco Field. The word Safe must mean something special for this 2014 team, because the Mariners would win 6 of 9 in the homestand to improve to 71-49 Overall extending their lead in the AL West now to 8.5 games.

However what is most impressive about this 2014 season is the Mariners are currently (41-25) at home, the best home record in the majors. The Colorado Rockies (37-23) and Cincinnati Reds (37-24) are the next best.

Here is a look back at what happened over the past 9 games.

Game 1 vs Atlanta (Lost 4-2)

                  H. Iwakuma failed to win his 4th straight going just 6 2/3 giving up 4 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks, including a 2-run HR to Freeman.

At the Plate, the M's struggled against Teheran who went 8 2/3 giving up just 8 hits and 2 runs well walking 5 and striking out 7.

SS B. Miller led the way with a 2-4 performance including his 13th HR, well K. Seager went 2/3 with a run scored.

Game 2 vs Atlanta (Won 1-0)

King Felix comes out on top in what was a match up of CY Young candidates. Scoreless through 8 IP, Hernandez finishes out his complete game 5 hitter by taking care of business in the 9th, but Beachy did not as he gives up Corey Hart's 33rd HR of the season in walk off fashion.

Beachy also finished the game giving up just 5 hits well striking out 6 as he drops to 15-5.

Felix struck out 12 as he picks up his 14th win well lowering his ERA to a AL best 2.28.

Game 3 vs CWS (Won 3-2)

The M's led 2-0 until the 8th when rookie J. Paxton finally gave up a 2 run single to Phegley to tie the game in the 8th. Paxton would leave the game without recording a out having given up just 2 hits and 2 BB's well striking out 6.

                  J. Russell comes in and closes out the 8th as he picks up the "W" to improve to 6-0 on the year, well F. Rodney closes out the game in the 9th for his 38th save.

At the Plate, Kyle Seager comes through with his 2nd hit of the night being a big one as he takes Guerra yard. Seager takes home POG honors as he was the only M to finish with more then 1 hit and he was responsible for 2 RBI's.

Game 4 vs CWS (Won 5-3)

Chris Young improves to 14-4 on the season with 7 1/3 IP giving up 3 runs on 7 hits well striking out 6.

Rodney pitches the 9th for his 39th save.

At the Plate, K. Seager continues to swing a hot bat with a 2-run HR, well also walking twice and scoring another run.

                  D. Ackley also drove in 2 runs with a double in the 4th, and L. Morrison finished the day 2/4 with a run scored raising his average to .272

Game 5 vs CWS (Lost 6-2)

Chicago scores 5 runs in the 3rd including 3 on a bomb by A. Dunn, as T. Walker win streak is snapped.

It was Walkers worst outing of the year as he goes just 3 IP giving up 6 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits well striking out just 2 as he falls to (4-1)

                  J. Beimel and D. Leone each pitched 3 IP of scoreless relief in the loss.

At the Plate, the M's 2 runs came in the 8th on a double by Zunino that plates Smoak and Van Slyke.

Game 6 vs CWS (Won 6-0)

Kyle Seager continues to own White Sox pitching with his 3rd HR in 4 games as he finishes the day 2/2 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBI's well also walking twice.

                  C. Hart adds his 35th HR (Solo shot) going 1/3 well L. Morrision went 2/3 with a RBI.

                  On the Mound

                  H. Iwakuma rebounded from his loss to Atlanta with a complete game 4 hit shutout well walking 5 and striking out 10. He is now (4-4) on the year.

Game 7 vs Toronto (Won 18-3)

18.... Yes that's not a misprint. The M's scored their most runs of the season. Trailing 3-0 after the 1st inning, the M's tied the game 3-3 in the 2nd, then added 3 more in the 4th, 1 in the 5th, 6 runs in the 6th and 5 more in the 8th. But what's even more impressive is they did it on 22 hits with only 1 of them being a homerun.

King Felix moved to 15-3 as he went 8 IP giving up 4 hits including A. Lind's 3-run HR in the 1st, finishing with 7 K's.

                  J. Russell pitched the 9th in a non-save situation.

                  At the Plate

                  G. Laird continues to shine as he finishes the game 4/4 with a solo HR, but what's even more impressive is his 5 runs scored!!

Both D. Ackley and R. Cano finished 3/5 and drove in 4 runs each

                  B. Miller went 3/6 with a team high 5 RBI, well E. Bonifacio went 3/6 with 3 runs scored.

Game 8 vs Toronto (Won 8-4)

Coming off a 18 run game, you wondered if the M's bats would be cold the next day. Well they were not as they score 7 of their 8 runs in the 1st Inning all off the arm of former Mariner B. Morrow (4 IP 8 H 7 R 2 BB 5 K)

                  G. Laird has officially taken over the starting duties behind the plate and responds with a 1/2 3 RBI day.

                  K. Seager finishes 2/4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI, well T. Plouffe starting at SS goes 1/3 with a run scored and 2 RBI

                  On the Mound

Rookie J. Paxton improves to (6-8) as he goes 6 IP giving up 4 runs (3 ER) on 8 hits well walking 3 and striking out 3.

                  D. Farquhar pitched the final 5 outs to record his 3rd save of the season

Game 9 vs Toronto (Lost 6-1)

So after putting up 26 runs in 2 games, the M's manage just 1 in the last game of the series as M. Buehrle stops the bleeding with a complete game, giving up the 1 run on 9 hits well striking out 6.

                  K. Seager had 3 of those 9 hits finishing the day 3/4 including a triple in which he would later score on a J. Willingham single. (Seager is now hitting .301 on the season, tying Hart for the team lead).

                  S. Van Slyke starting in LF finished 2/4 well R. Cano went 2/5.

                  On the Mound

                  C. Young fails to win his 15th as he drops to (14-5) going just 4 2/3 IP giving up all 6 runs on 7 hits and 3 BB's well striking out 4.

                  J. Beimel pitched 2 1/3 IP of scoreless relief well S. Pryor pitched the final 2 IP also scoreless lowering his ERA to 0.75.

THE M'S WILL NOW TAKE TO THE ROAD FOR 9 GAMES ON THE EAST COASTSTARTING IN DETROIT, THEN PHILLY AND THEN BOSTON

Woo hoo! Go Mariners. I wish Corey Hart worked out in real life like he has for you. He's done the same thing in my franchises.

Agreed my friend. Last year we put our hopes in hoping Morales and Morse and this year in Hart and Morrison.

It's hard to win a championship when your current best player is hitting .273 with 15 HR and 63 RBI (Real life stats for K. Seager).

Cano gives me hope but how often will ownership put up that kind of money for bats. Probably not as often as we need.

These next 9 on the East coast are pretty big I think. If you can do well here, you should definitely be at ease when you get back west for the divisional games. Should make for a nice cushion down the stretch when your guys start going on fumes due to not having any days off... I just can't see your M's losing so much momentum to blow the West at this point.

Thanks for the comment and checking in. Lucky for me I am catching the Tigers and Phillies both on current losing streaks. In fact Detroit has dropped below .500 as they have lost both Scherzer and recently acquired F. Liriano to the D.L. so Game 3 will be King Felix vs Robbie Ray making his MLB debut.

M'S SUCCESS CONTINUES ON ROAD TRIP

After a going 6 and 3 in a 9 game homestand, the M's hit the road for a 9 game East Coast road trip duplicating their success with another 6 of 9 victories taking 2 of 3 in all 3 series.

Here is a recap of each series

Seattle came into Detroit at just the right time. The Tiger had just got done losing 3 of 4 games at home to the Pirates and to make matters worse they lost their #2 SP (Scherzer/shoulder seperation out 22 days) and recently acquired #3 F. Liriano (fractured hand 2-3 months) plus OF A. Dirks (Broken Ankle 1-2 months)

With Scherzer and Liriano out of action Rick Porcello (5-11 ERA over 5.00) was reinserted back into the rotation along with the Tigers #1 prospect Robbie Ray. Ray would start Game 3 vs King Felix.

                            Game 1 (M's lose 2-0)

After starting the year 4-0, T. Walker drops his 2nd straight start as he gives up 2 runs on 6 hits in 6 IP well striking out 7, as Porcello makes his return to the rotation with a 4 hit complete game shutout striking out 10.

                            Game 2 (M's win 3-2 *Played*

Detroit took the lead in the 1st (1-0) and added to it in the 3rd (2-0), but with 1 swing of the bat, the M's took the lead in the 6th as Logan Morrison getting the start at 1B hits a 3-run HR (just his 4th of the year).

On the Mound, H. Iwakuma picked up his 5th "W" of the year with 7 IP giving up the 2 runs on 7 hits well striking out 5.

                            F. Rodney pitched the 9th for his 40th save of the season as he struck out the side..

                            Game 3 (M's win 9-0)

Robbie Ray's MLB debut was one he would like to forget. Ray went just 3 IP giving up 4 runs on 7 hits and 2 BB's well striking out 2.

The Bullpen was much better though as the M's score 3 in the 5th and then add another in the 6th and 7th.

On the other hand King Felix was outstanding as he continues to pile stats onto his CY Young resume picking up his 16th "W" of the season (16-3) as he throws a complete game shutout giving up just 5 hits well striking out 6. Hernandez has now lowered his ERA to 2.08.

At the Plate, the M's went yard 4 times, as Corey Hart hits 2, Kyle Seager 1, and S. Van Slyke hit his first HR as a Mariner.

Seager and Hart both finish the day with 3 RBI, well Van Slyke added a double and a single to his sole HR to finish the day 3/5. He is now hitting .322 since coming to Seattle.

Like Detroit, the Phillies were coming off back to back "L's" have dropped 2 of 3 to the Giants, and that losing streak made it to 4 games before they salvaged a "W" in Game 3 of the series behind a complete game shutout by Cole Hamels vs T. Walker.

                            Game 1 (M's win 5-1)

On the Mound, Rookie J. Paxton had one of his best starts of the season as he goes 7 1/3 IP giving up just 1 unearned run on 6 hits and 2 BB's well striking out 4. With the victory Paxton is now 7-9 on the year and has lowered his ERA to 4.10.

At the Plate, C. Hart continues to swing a hot bat as he goes 2/5 with 2 RBI's well D. Ackley went 1/1 with 3 walks but his 1 hit was a big one as he scores 2 with a double.

                            Game 2 (M's win 7-6) *Played*

Trailing 4-2 until the 9th, the M's put up 5 runs off All-Star CP J. Papelbon, spoiling a strong outing by former Mairner Cliff Lee who went 8 IP giving up 2 runs on 7 hits well striking out 10

                            D. Ackley making a rare start in CF and batting leadoff went 4/4 with 2 runs scored well adding a RBI.

                            C. Hart went 2/5 with both hits being doubles as he drives in 3.

                            R. Cano also drove in 3 with a bases loaded double in the 9th which turned out to be the game winners.

On the Mound for the M's, C. Young made the start but went just 5 1/3 IP giving up 3 runs on 9 hits well striking out just 2.

                            S. Pryor pitched the 8th as he moves to (3-1) with the "W" well lowering his ERA to 0.69

                            F. Rodney pitched the 9th for his 41st save. He did give up a 2-run HR to Ruff, but then struck out Utley to end the game.

                            Game 3 (M's lose 3-0

Like I mentioned earlier C. Hamels went the complete game giving up just 6 hits well striking out 7. This performance overshadowed T. Walker who now has lost 3 games in a row despite giving up just 2 runs on 5 hits in 6 IP of work. Walker struck out 5 in the loss. He is now (4-3 with a 3.53 ERA).

Like Detroit and Phillie, August has not been kind to Boston.. After winning 2 of 3 against the Yankees to start the month, the Red Sox fighting for the #1 AL WC, dropped 2 of 3 to STL, 3 of 4 to Houston and 3 of 4 to the LA Angels with the last 6 of 10 being at home before hosting the M's.

                            Game 1 (M's win 4-3)

Boston led (1-0) in the 2nd Inning, but the M's take the lead by scoring 2 in the 4th and 2 more in the 5th as C. Hart hits his 38th HR (2-run shot)

On the Mound, H. Iwakuma picks up his "6th W" as he goes 6 2/3 IP giving up 3 runs on 6 hits well striking out 7.

                            F. Rodney pitched the 9th for his 42nd save.

                            Game 2 (M's win 3-0 *Played*)

The King continues to rule his kingdom in dominating fashion as he pitches 7th complete game, this 6th shutout and his 21st of 25 Quality start.

Hernandez would give up just 4 hits well striking out 6 as he lowered his ERA to a league best 1.99 picking up his 17th "W" of the year (17-3).

At the plate, it was Corey Hart going yard yet again for his 39th (2-run shot in the 8th, of Peavy who until then had a 2 hit shutout.)

The 2 RBI's now gives Hart a MLB leading 116 RBI's and his 39 HR's also now leads the league (Miggy has 38)

                            Game 3 (M's fall 5-3)

After struggling to put runs on the board through 7 IP against Peavy the day before, the M's bat's where quite again until the 8th as F. Doubront holds them scoreless through 7. Doubront would leave after getting just 1 out in the 8th, but still managed to pick up his 9th win of the season (9-5). Uehara pitched the 9th for his 40th save.

On the other side of the ball for the M's, Rookie J. Paxton went just 5 IP giving up 3 runs on 4 hits well walking 3 and striking out 3 to pick up his 9th loss of the year (7-9).

                            L. Luetge pitched the 6th and 7th giving up 2 runs on 4 hits well D. Leone pitched the 8th.

At the plate, all 3 runs for the M's came off 1 swing of the bat as J. Willingham hits his 15th HR of the season.

UP NEXT SEATTLE RETURNS HOME TO HOST TEXAS FOR 3 GAMES BEFORE CLOSING OUT AUGUST WITH A 3 GAME SERIES HOSTING THE NATIONALS.

Between the King and Hart they are really keeping you guys going ingot he right direction. Looks like that 100 win goal will be attainable barring injury or slider change.

I play every 3rd game, which means I started the year with my #3, then my #1, then my #4, then my #2, then my #5 SP. I like it that way because then I don't just pick every start by Felix.

I am disappointed however that after starting out 4-0, Walker has hit a wall and can't seem to get a "W". I am actually scheduled to play his next start against Texas, so hopefully I can turn things around.

As far as Sliders go, I tend to lose as many as I win, when I actually play, so I doubt I will make any changes there, so at this point I think injuries and fatigue are the only things I need to worry about. Lucky for me Tacoma is not in the playoff race in AAA, so I will be able to call up some arms and a couple more bats to help with days off and IP in Sept. I really want to get Felix to 20 wins. (only need 3 more) but then I will likely skip a start or 2 to keep him fresher for the playoffs if possible. C. Young also has the potential to win 20 if I can string together some more W's. (He is at 15 now)

It's crazy to think what kind of money I will have to throw at him and C. Hart next year.

Thanks for following. I always enjoyed your feedback in my college football thread.. Glad to have here too.
