        Opening Day 2015!
Chris Archer and Chris Tillman duel in a close, 1 run ballgame. In the end, the Rays walk off and win in the 9th. Chris Tillman was very strong, going 6 innings, as was Chris Archer who went 6.2 innings, but none of them were around in the final decision. Tommy Hunter blew the save for the Orioles, and Ryan Webb took the loss, Grant Balfour took the win for the Rays in a very tightly contested ball game in St Pete!

        W- Grant Balfour (1-0 0.00)
        L- Ryan Webb (0-1 3.85)

        Rays - Desmond Jennings 2-4 2 Runs
        Orioles - J.J. Hardy 2-3

        Orioles 0-1

Game 2 of this young season for the Tampa Bay Rays was much like game 1...
The Orioles take this game 2-1. Steve Pearce was the main offense of the game, hitting in 1 of the two runs by the Orioles via a HR. Baltimore was out hit in this one, though, as they could only get 4 hits between them. The Rays SP Alex Cobb takes the loss in this one, going 7 solid innings with 9 Strike outs, the winning pitcher, Kevin Gausman went only 6.2 innings, with only 3 strike outs. Zach Britton got his first save of the season in this one.

          Rays Alex Cobb (0-1 2.57)
          Orioles Kevin Gausman (1-0 1.35)

          Rays Asdrubal Cabrera 3-3, SB
Orioles Steve Pearce 1-4 HR (1)

          Rays 1-1
          Orioles 1-1

            The opening series rubber match..

This game, pretty much just ugly could explain it for the Rays. The Orioles take the series and the game, winning 5-2, after scoring 4 runs in the fourth. They also out hit the Rays by a pretty large number, 11 hits for the Orioles and only 6 for the Rays. 2 of the 6 Ray hits, though, came from Desmond Jennings, who put in his second 2 hit game in the young season, one of the few early bright spots for the Rays this season. Rays pitcher was less than stellar, as Drew Smyly only goes 4 innings, leaving Alex Colome to have to come on for 3 innings him self. Wei-Yin Chen had no problems, and went 8 innings for the win. Zach Britton also notched his second save of the young season.

            Rays Drew Smyly (0-1 11.25)
            Orioles Wei-Yin Chen (1-0 2.25)

            Rays Desmond Jennings 2-4, 2B
Orioles Steve Pearce 3-5 HR (2), 2B, RBI

            Rays 1-2
            Orioles 2-1

                Series opener at Marlins

Very, very ugly game for the Rays here today. Matt Moore was very stellar, pitching 1 hit ball until a shaky 6th inning, but he re-bounded, unlike his offense behind him. He went 7.1 innings, giving up 7 hits, and 2 HRs, one a monster shot by Giancarlo Stanton Moore also had 2 hits, 2 doubles, one nearly a homerun, in 3 ABs. Jarred Cosart was strong, pitching what would of been a complete game shutout, but was ruined by a leadoff 9th inning HR by Evan Longoria, his first. Jeff Baker also went deep for the Marlins in their 5-1 win over your Tampa Bay Rays.

                Rays Matt Moore 7.1IP 11 SO(0-1 6.14)
                Marlins Jarred Cosart 9IP 4 SO (1-0 1.00)

                Rays Matt Moore 2-3 2 2B
Marlins Jeff Baker 2-3 HR RBI, R

                Rays 1-3
                Marlins 3-1

This game for the Rays was just plain ugly. The Marlins take game 2 by the horrendous score of 13-1. In this one, the Rays were also only limited to 5 hits, 3 of which coming from Steven Souza, who also got batted in by John Jaso for the Rays only run of the game. Jake Odorizzi went 5 innings allowing 4 Runs to cross, but the bullpen allowed 9 runs between them. On the Marlins side, they were lifted by a wonderful pitching performance by Dan Haren, going all 9 innings.

                  Rays Jake Odorizzi 0-1 7.20
                  Marlins Dan Haren 1-0 1.00

Rays Steven Souza Jr 3-4, R
                  Marlins Mike Morse 2-5, HR (1) 2B

                  Rays 1-4
                  Marlins 4-1

Rays win! 1-0 the score today in South Beach, as it was a pitchers duel to the end. Chris Archer went 6 innings giving up nothing but 3 hits, and was very strong all day. Jake McGee also got his first save of the season in this one. On the Marlins side, Jose Fernandez went 7 innings but was handed the loss. The only offense of the game was a solo HR by Kevin Kiermaier in the 3rd. Logan Forsythe also had a double, but the Rays couldn't do anything with it.

                    Rays Chris Archer (1-0 1.42)
                    Marlins Jose Fernandez (1-1 1.12)

Rays Kevin Kiermaier 1-3 HR (1)
                    Marlins Marcell Ozuna 1-2

                    Rays 2-4
                    Marlins 4-2

Re: Taking back the AL East - A Rays Franchise.

A little bit of everything in this one. This game started off a pitching duel up north, but ended up an offense kind of game. The Rays hit 3 solo Home Runs, those coming from Kevin Kiermaier, Brandon Guyer, and Logan Forsythe. There was a lot of defense in this game too, a very nice play by the Blue Jays left fielder Michael Saunders to rob Kevin Kiermaier of a double, or even more, highlighted the defense in this one, though. Alex Cobb was strong, but had one shaky inning, the 7th, giving up 2 runs. Cobb went 7 strong innings in the no decision. Mark Buehrle was strong in this one as well, only giving up the 3 solo HRs to the Rays offense. Edwin Encarnancion hit in the go-ahead run in the 8th for the Jays. Brett Cecil notched his second save of the season in this one as well.

                        Rays Ronald Belsario (0-1 11.25)
Blue Jays Aaron Loup (1-0 0.00)

Rays Kevin Kiermaier 2-4 HR (2), RBI
Blue Jays Edwin Enacarnancion 1-3 2B, BB, RBI, SB

                        Rays 2-5
                        Blue Jays 3-4

                          Another Walkoff, another Rays loss...

This game, good for the Rays till the end, as the final score is 6-7 Blue Jays, the Rays loosing by a walk off winner in the 9th by Maicer Izturis. Pitching for the Rays in this one, again, shaky. Drew Smyly did not have a good start, for the second start in a row. Going 4.1 innings and giving up 6 runs in the no decision. On the bright side, the Rays get some good offense, another 3 HR game for the Rays, these coming from Desmond Jennings, John Jaso, and Asdrubal Cabrera. The Jays starter, Aaron Sanchez, went 5.2 innings, giving up 5 runs to your Rays. Wild game in this one, as Chad Jenkins gets the Blown Save for his work in the 6th, giving up 1 run.

                          Rays Ernesto Frieri (0-1 4.90)
Blue Jays Todd Redmond (1-1 10.80)

Rays John Jaso 3-5 2B, HR, RBI
Blue Jays Justin Smoak 3-4 RBI

                          Rays 2-6

Its Jackie Robinson Day across the baseball nation, and every Major league player is wearing #42 in his honor today...

Its starting to get old... Rays loose...
For once, they didn't loose to a walkoff, but it wasn't much better. 6-4 Blue Jays in this one. Now, you have to give at least SOME credit to the Rays in this one, they battled back for 2 runs in the 9th, but were held at just 2. Again, this shouldn't be a surprise, the pitching for the Rays was less then stellar, as starter Matt Moore only goes 5 innings, giving up 4 runs and 6 hits in the loss. Grant Balfour also gave up 2 runs out of the pen. For the Jays, Marcus Stroman is strong going 8 inning allowing only 2 runs and 5 hits. Brett Cecil got his 3rd save in this one, and Toronto managed to hit 2 HRs, one by Izturis and another by Encarnancion. The Rays are looking forward to getting out of Canada after tomorrows game.

                            Rays Matt Moore (0-2 6.52)
Blue Jays Marcus Stroman (2-0 1.25)

Rays David Dejesus 2-4 2B, RBI
Blue Jays Maicer Izturis 1-4 2R scored, HR (1)

                            Rays 2-7
                            Blue Jays 5-4

(Also, going back to last post, John Jaso's long ball was his 1st of the season)

A Rare occurrence here, Rays win and avoid the sweep!

Good game in this one as the Rays score 5 and hold the Jays to only 2 runs, a rarity against their monster offense, making the final score 5-2 Rays! John Jaso was absolute fire in this one, going deep twice for HR 2 and 3 on the season. James Loney also went deep in this one, his 1st of the year. Jake Odorizzi went 8 innings, proving himself from his last start, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs before handing it over to the teams closer, Jake McGee, who notched his 2nd save of the year. For the Blue Jays, Edwin Encarnancion goes deep again, 3 for his season total, hitting both Jays runs in, this coming in the 1st. Their started, Drew Hutchinson was shaky, going only 5 innings giving up 4 runs and 6 of the 8 Rays hits.

Rays John Jaso 2-3 2 HR (2,3) [all 3 in this series] HBP, 2 RBI, 2R Scored
