      TAMPA BAY SUN
It is no secret that the Rays pitching staff is shaky, and the bull pen blows a lot of games. Outside of Chris Archer, and the back end of the bullpen, the whole team has an ERA over 3. We spoke to General Manager Matthew Silverman about this topic.

"I have been addressed with the Rays problem with pitching many of times and I am working all around to try to find the solution to the Rays bullpen, because, as it has been proven, they loose many games for us." Silverman did not address how these moves would be made, either trade, signings, or claims
      .
One solution our producers here at the Sun came up with was to trade one of the Rays many power bats for a solid 2 or 3 starter, or bullpen pitcher.

It will be interesting to see what Silverman comes up with in the coming weeks. The Rays are back home this weekend for a 3 game set against the New York Yankees.

Rays loose again, their 8th of the season.
The battle of the lower half of the division, both teams in this one well under .500. New York came out on top in this one, though, 3-1. Mark Teixeira was the main offense of the game, hitting a solo HR and a sac fly. For your Tampa Bay Rays, things were less than stellar. Rene Rivera hit his 1st HR of the season, hitting in the only run of the game for the Rays. Chris Archer wasn't bad at all, he just didn't have the run support, which like the bullpen, has let down the starters a few times. Archer went 6.2 innings, gibing up 2 runs and 7 hits. Chris Capuano on the other hand, was great, sadly. He went all 9 innings allowing the solo HR by Rene Rivera and 7 hits. You have to think that sooner or later, the Rays will have to begin rebuilding for the future, or just for now...

Rays Rene Rivera 1-4 HR RBI
Yankees Mark Teixeira 2-2 HR, 2B, SAC.

        Rays Chris Archer (1-1 1.86)
        Yankees Chris Capuano (1-0 2.40)

        Rays 4-6
        Yankees 3-8

Walk off winner for the Rays! This game, goes 11 innings, the first extra inning game for the Rays of the season, and the hero is John Jaso, who delivered an RBI Single to win the game for the Rays in the 11th. The Rays used all they had in this game, as all 4 bench players got into this game, though they used only 2 pitchers. Alex Cobb got the no decision for the Rays, going 7.1 innings allowing 3 runs and 5 hits. Grant Balfour got the win going 3.2 innings. Masahiro Tanaka wasn't all that good in this one, going only 5 innings allowing 3 run and 7 hits. Evan Longoria homered in this one as well, his 2nd. Jacoby Ellsbury and Stephen Drew also homered in this game for the Yankees.

          Rays Grant Balfour (2-0 8.22)
          Yankees David Carpenter (1-1 0.71)

          Rays Kevin Kiermaier 2-4 2B
Yankees Stephen Drew 2-4 HR, RBI

          Rays 4-8
          Yankees 4-7

Rays win! 6-2 the final score here in the rubber match game of the series, and the Rays offense came up huge, but so did Drew Smyly, going 8 innings allowing only 3 hits and 2 runs! John Jaso had a huge day as well, going 2-3 with a triple and a double, extending his hit streak to 9 games in a row. C.C Sabathia was terrible for the Yankees, allowing 6 runs through 4 innings. Juan Francisco had a big game as well, hitting a HR for his first hit of the season. Jake McGee came on for work in the 9th, not a save though, allowing nothing, no hits, no runs. One run for the Yankees came from a huge HR from Chase Headley, his first. The Rays stay at home for another 3 game set, this time against the Red Sox.

            Rays John Jaso 2-4 3B
Yankees Chase Headley 1-3 HR (1) RBI

            Rays Drew Smyly (1-1 4.41)
            Yankees C.C Sabathia (1-2 6.06)

            Rays 5-8
            Yankees 4-8
