The Amazin' Mets of 2015 - Pitching, Pitching, and more Pitching

I know this is late, but better than never, and with the Y2Y saves, it really doesn't matter. Today I start my road to a championship with the my favorite team, the New York Mets. They are equipped with one of the best pitching staffs in the league and one of the worst lineups. For the first time in a long time, us Mets fans have hope.

So I am going to play each and every game the following way:
    Full Counts
    Directional Hitting
    Classic Pitching
Armor and Sword's All Star sliders
    WTNY's Realism Roster

I will be using 30 team control to ensure realism and will complete the trades as they happen in real life. If I happen to want to make a trade on my own, then I will refer to the trade discussion thread here on OS. I will also make sure nothing unrealistic occurs.

Here is the Projected Opening Day Depth Chart:

Port Saint Lucie - Coming into Spring Training, the Mets front office is in high hopes. In wake of the firing of GM Sandy Alderson, Nate McGregor has taken over the role, predicting a playoff spot for his new club. In an interview he was quoted "I know everyone thinks the Nationals have the best rotation in baseball, but I don't think they have the best rotation in their own division - I really think we will surprise some people this year." With that statement, McGregor has made it clear to everyone that this team will not back down.

Re: The Amazin' Mets of 2015 - Pitching, Pitching, and more Pitching

With Opening Day almost upon us, here is a Position by Position Outlook for now and the future:

            Pitcher:

The Mets will not have to worry about their Rotation for a long time. By next season the rotation could consist of Harvey, deGrom, Syndergaard, Wheeler, and Matz, quite possibly the best in baseball.

The bullpen is a little bit shaky however. It is uncertain if Jeurys Familia is ready to step into the closer role. Parnell, Edgin, and Vic Black are all on the DL to start the year.

            Catcher:

As of now, Travis d'Arnaud is pencilled in as the starting Catcher. He has good potential and could easily become a very solid player. However, if he doesn't perform, Kevin Plawecki, a top prospect will be right there to step in.

            1st Base:

Lucas Duda will be the everyday starter. After a 30 HR year last year, he looks to continue his success and provide a big bat in the middle of the lineup.

            2nd Base:

Daniel Murphy is a free agent after the year, but as of now, he is one of the better hitters on the team. The future is reserved for Dilson Herrera.

            3rd Base:

The face of the franchise, David Wright is back and hopes to finally get back to the postseason. If he produces offensively, that hope could be in reach.

            Shortstop:

The shortstop role this season will be by committee. Wilmer Flores and Ruben Tejada will split time based on who is performing. On Opening Day, the nod will be give to Flores. In the future, top prospects Amed Rosario and Gavin Ceccini wil look to make an impact.

            Outfield:

The outfield will be patrolled by FA signee Michael Cuddyer along with Jaun Lagares and Curtis Granderson. With Cuddyer and Granderson getting old however, Michael Conforto and Brandon Nimmo will be ready in the coming seasons.
