Return of the Big Red Machine: Cincinnati Reds Franchise MLB 17 the Show

The Cincinnati Reds haven’t won a World Series since 1990 and I’m looking to end that drought. Though an aging star in Joey Votto with the rest of the team sub bar players looking to break out. Though with the #10 ranked farm system they can contend in the next few years if their prospects pan out. If the Reds can ship of some of their veterans for younger bats and their pitching develops they may even be able to make the playoffs next season. A note about my write ups is that I will be giving an update every two months of the season and will be streaming some games on twitch with my link in my signature.

      2016-17 Season Preview

This season I'm looking to develop some of our younger prospects and hopefully move some of our bigger contracts such as Homer Bailey who should be back from his Elbow surgery in late June and try to move SS Zach Cozart and allow Peraza or Suarez to get some reps in at SS. Some other things I want to accomplish this season is to develop our bullpen which is full minor league players and to possibly give rookie pitcher Vladimir Gutirerrez a few innings in the bullpen this season to hopefully get him in the major quicker. Finally I will also be shopping 1B Joey Votto around the trade deadline to bolster our Farm System farther.

        Spring Training Review
In the 2016-17 Spring Training your Reds had a record of 8-22 which isn’t the best but with a few injuries is reasonable. Both the pitching and hitting struggled this Spring but Brandon Finnegan was able to go 3-2 with 27 K’s and the 24 year old Amir Garret was able to go 2-2 with 17 punch puts. On the hitting side Joey Votto struggled hitting only .208 with 2 HR’s and 10 RBI’s, LF Adam Duvall though had a good spring hitting .289 with 6 HR’s and 16 RBI’s and finally the biggest surprise was Rookie 2B Dilson Herrera, who was acquired in the Jay Bruce trade, had a .500 average with 4 RBI’s in 16 AB’s and earned himself a spot on the opening day roster. Even though they spring didn’t go to plan we still are looking ahead to Opening Day against the Phillies with Bronson Arroyo getting the start.

As well as I am going to start streaming right now and be playing opening day if you want to watch link is in my signature!

          Opening Day Lineups:

A great way to start the season with a 2-1 win over the Phillies. Billy Hamilton went 3-4 with 3 singles, Votto went 1-4 with an RBI single and Starter Scott Feldman went 6.1 innings and had 6k's with no walks or ER. Feldman did though get a suprise start as Arroyo had elbow tightness but will still start tomorrow. On the Phillies side Nola went 5 innings allowing 7 hits and 2 ER with 2K's. Maikel Franco got the teams only RBI with a Solo Homerun in the 9th against closer Rasiel Iglesias who got the save.

It is pretty cool, right?! I've thought about starting a blog in the"my arena" section but I'm sure nobody would read it. Plus, I can't make it look as nice as these guys. I am a big dork when it comes to this game and rebuilding in franchise more. Love this stuff!
I fully expect a remake of the Reds Hot rap video on here when the machine is rebuilt!!

Should hire Rob Dibble as your pitching coach for the awesomeness.

                          Month of April & May

So far the Reds have struggled to get anything going this season as they have been hit with the injury bug. Though Joey Votto has been able to get hot and lead the team in mostly every stat. Though with some players hopefully returning some we can get back on track and get some wins under out belts. Though if we cannot we may look to move some players at the trade deadline!

Yes he did and I'm not really happy about it but what can you do. I'm just praying its not a career ending injury to my young catcher. And I know its just the Reds luck for this to happen and right after he has a good return game.
