Indians Bullpen Blows Game, Indians Lose 5-4
    April 1, 2018
    Associated Press

With the Indians up 3-0 entering into the 7th, Zach Godley and the Tribe looked to be on cruise control. Within a few hitters, and two outs in between, Godley walked off the field, up 3-1 with Hunter Pence, hitless on the year, coming up. Francona called to the pen and brought in Juan Nicasio. Nicasio would give up the next 4 runs, a single to Pence (driving in two) and a home run to Buxton, and the Indians would relinquish the lead.

In the 8th inning, however, Travis Shaw lead off with a double. With one out, and a runner on third, Marwin Gonzalez flew out to RF to score Shaw from third. Wellington Castillo then drove a ball very deep to LF, and it looked to have the carry to get out. And then Hunter Pence flew through the air to bring that ball back to Earth on the wrong side of the fence. The Indians would never truly threaten again.

Next Up: The Indians head to Los Angeles to face the Angels. Cleveland will send Steven Matz (0-0, 0.00) to the mound to face the Angels' Jonathon Loaisiga (0-0, 0.00).

Indians Late Heroics Not Enough, Drop 3rd Straight
        April 2, 2018
        Associated Press

Down 5-4 in the 9th inning, facing Brandon Morrow of the Angels (who didn't serve up a single home run all year last season), Chris Taylor took a high fastball deep to LF to tie the game. Sadly, it was not enough, as a leadoff double by Dee Gordon would lead to a walk-off ground ball hit by Yellich that would score the aforementioned Gordon.

Starter Steven Matz struggled through the game, giving up 11 hits in just 5 innings. The Indians rode the longball, with Davis (2), Rizzo (2) and Taylor (1), all delivering home runs. Angels rookie SP Loaisiga was not very sharp either, but was good enough through 5. Fellow rookie, Gleyber Torres, got his first major league hit, a home run, off of Matz in the 3rd inning.

Next up: The Indians look to stop their three game losing streak. Cleveland sends Henry Owens (0-0, 0.00) to face the Angels Michael Wacha (1-0, 5.40)

Indians End Skid, Defeat Angels 5-1
            April 3, 2018
            Associated Press

Speaking before the game Chris Taylor said that the team wasn't worried about the early skid and that everything would fall into place. Taylor then went out and deposited the third pitch of the game into the LF bleachers for a lead the Indians would never give up. Bryce Harper, who hadn't shown much power this season, hit his first home run as well, and the Indians were able to win 5-1 to end a three game skid.

Taking the hill was Henry Owens, who pitched wonderfully. Surrendering only a single run in 7 innings, while striking out 6, Owens was able to silence critics who believed that Hellickson should have beaten out Owens for the 5th spot. Owens' start was masterful, as he only gave up 5 hits throughout and was able to save some bullpen arms. He was awarded "player of the game" by Fox Sports for his performance.

Next Up: Game three and last game of the series. The Indians send Danny Salazar (1-0, 0.00) against Angels' youngster, Sean Newcomb (0-0, 9.00) in the rubber match. The Indians return to Cleveland for their home opener on Friday against Kansas City.

Cardiac Cleveland Comes Back Late, Wins 5-4
              April 3, 2018
              Associated Press

Entering the seventh inning up 3-2, the Indians quickly found themselves down 4-3 and staring down a second series loss to start the 2018 season. But much like game one, the Indians would find the longball useful against closer Brendan Morrow...this time, they were able to close the door. Rizzo would lead the inning off with his third home run of the year and Travis Shaw took Morrow deep with two outs to give the Indians a lead.

Closer Trevor Rosenthal had to work around a defensive miscue from Bryce Harper who over ran a ball in the OF for a lead off triple. Rosenthall would strike out rookie Gleyber Torres, get Dee Gordon to ground out sharply to third (which held the runner) and struck out Lindor for his first save on the year to get the Indians back to a .500 record.

Next up: The Indians return home for their opener against Kansas City. The Royals send Miles Mikolas (0-1, 3.86 ERA) to the mound to face Jon Gray (0-1, 6.00).
