          Scrimmage 1

          Score:

          USA A: 97
          USA B: 89

The younger guys gave the A team a run for their money with a mix of ally oops and tons of hustle. However, Coach K brought in the starting lineup for the last 4 minutes and Dwayne Wade and Lebron helped the A team to pull away. The talent level in the program is blatantly obvious and Coach K was quoted as saying, " Any one of these guys could play for our National Team."

          Key Performers

          Team A
          K. Bryant: 25 pts, 4 rebounds, 2 assists
          L. James: 25 pts, 3 rebounds, 6 assists
          D. Wade: 11 pts, 4 assists
          D. Howard: 9 pts, 5 rebounds, 3 assists
          C. Paul: 7 pts, 6 assists
          C. Anthony: 8 pts

          Team B
          D. Rose: 13 pts, 8 assists
          K. Durant: 11 pts
          D. Granger: 11 pts
          G. Oden: 7 pts, 3 steals

Right now Coach K says he is taking a hard look at a number of people on the B team. The early favorites to make the team appear to be Rose, Durant, Granger and Oden but there are still 2 more scrimmages left and anything can happen.

Final Scrimmage- Team A vs Team B

This game was more of a test game for the B game then anything else. Guys that didnt get minutes last game did this game and the performed much worse. The A team took control early in the 2nd quarter with a 10-0 run and never looked back.

                A Team Key Players

                L. James: 23 pts, 2 reb, 2 ast
                D. Howard: 18 pts, 5 reb, 2 blk
                D. Wade: 12 pts
                C. Anthony: 12 pts
                K. Bryant: 11 pts

                B Team Key Players

                R. Westbrook: 17 pts, 8 ast
                R. Gay: 13 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast
                G. Oden: 10 pts, 6 reb, 3 blk
                D. Rose: 6 pts, 8 ast

                Coach K's Comments

A few of the young guys really played well today. Rudy Gay was not intimated by the older guys at all and showed them that he belongs on the court with the,. Greg Oden was a monster on defense and actually swatted Lebron and Dwight during the game. Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook both ran the offense extremely well today and showed that they can give Paul and Williams a run for their money.

Re: Team USA's Journey to the 2012 Olympics

The Final Roster for the USA Invitational Will be as follows:

                  Point Guard
                  Chris Paul
                  Deron Williams
                  Derrick Rose

                  Shooting Guard
                  Kobe Bryant
                  Dwayne Wade

                  Small Forward
                  Lebron James
                  Carmelo Anthony
                  Rudy Gay
                  Tayshaun Prince

                  Power Forward
                  Chris Bosh

                  Center
                  Dwight Howard
                  Greg Oden

Coach K's Comments: All 12 of these players performed very well during our scrimmages. However, no one is guaranteed a spot on the next roster. Anyone who does not perform during this tournament could very possibly left off the roster for the next tournament.

Re: Team USA's Journey to the 2012 Olympics

The field for the USA Invitational will be as follows

                    Team USA
                    2001 Draft Class
                    2002 Draft Class (Without Tayshaun)
                    Blazers

FIBA has also announced that every team that is competing in the 2012 Olympics needs to also have B team. I have decided that running this team will be too much for me, so I have decided to let Jim Boeheim run them.
(OS user Pfeffuh will run the B team on here)

Coach Boeheim will fill you in on B team news.

Coach K's Comments: Our current starting lineup is...

                    PG: Dwayne Wade
                    SG: Kobe Bryant
                    SF: Carmelo Anthony
                    PF: Lebron James
                    C: Dwight Howard

The USA Future Stars National Team consists of 14 players after two scrimmage tryouts:

Point Guards (Sorted by spot on Depth Chart)
                      Devin Harris
                      Rajon Rondo
                      Stephen Curry (Reserve)

                      Shooting Guards
                      Kevin Durant
                      Russell Westbrook
                      OJ Mayo

                      Small Forwards
                      Danny Granger
                      Andrew Iguodala
                      Thaddeus Young (Reserve)

                      Power Forwards
                      Blake Griffin
                      Jeff Green
                      Brook Lopez

                      Centers
                      Hasheem Thabeet
                      Andrew Bynum

                      Jim's Jabber:
I love the team we have right now, and believe we have the capability to come out of this tournament on top, but not with ease. Tough opponents Draft Class 2000, the LA Clippers, and the Sacremento Kings will definitely give these young players a run for their money. After this tournament, the roster, and depth chart will be reviewed and revamped for our second tournament, or next scrimmage. Danny Granger and Kevin Durant will captain the team as we try to come through in our first tournament.

This game was a close one all the way through, as the draft class of 01 were knockin down jumpers from every spot on the floor. We ended up winning on a go ahead 20 footer by Russell Westbrook with 1.4 seconds left, and then he got a block on the next play as Speedy Claxton tried to force up a game winner. Thabeet and Granger were the two most impressive players of the game for my team, and I think I am going to have to give Jamal Crawford a tryout for my team after having 21 points and 8 assists. Also, for our team, Brook Lopez had 7 points and a rebound in 3 minutes.

                            Future Stars National- Key Players
Danny Granger- 25 points 7 assists

Kevin Durant- 16 points 4 rebounds
Devin Harris- 9 points 4 assists, fouled out
                            Brook Lopez- 7 points
                            Russell Westbrook/Andre Iguodala- 4 points

                            Draft Class '00- Key Players
Jamal Crawford- 21 points 8 assists
Kenyon Martin- 19 points 4 rebounds
Joel Pryzbilla- 12 points 4 rebounds
                            Michael Redd- 11 points
                            Mike Miller- 9 points
                            Turkoglu/Claxton- 7 points

                            Boeheim's Babble:
I really don't feel that game should have been as close as it was. Poor perimeter defense, as well as a couple of cold stretches on offense let the 2000 draft class stay in the game, and for the most part, ahead in it. However, the team showed that they know how to get the W in the end, shutting their opponent's down in the fourth quarter. I would like to see more production out of my bench however, because they didn't provide the spark I needed.

                            Player Journal- Blake Griffin:
Coming into the NBA as a rookie, I didn't even earn a tryout to the USA National team. The number one pick, and I don't even get looked at. However, as I have my whole life, instead of whining and moaning, I am going to go out and dominate the 'minor leagues' of FIBA until the Dream Team has to take me. 16 points may have been enough to get me noticed, but it won't earn me a spot. In this tournament, ready or not, I am about to tear it up.

Rudy Gay goes up for a Dunk in the 4th quarter

The first half was an absolute nightmare for Coach K. Going in to the game, K believed that his players were ready to go out and prove that they were the best players in the NBA. Then, they were embarrassed. The game started out with the Draft Class of 2001 roaring to a 12-0 lead. The first quarter ended with them being up 32-16. It was 55-45 at the half. Then, Lebron James spoke up. As soon as everyone was in the locker room, Lebon started to scream. "What the Fu*k are we doing!" he yelled. "How can you let that ball hog bit*h (Arenas) wreck you!?" he screamed at Wade. "We need to play better!" With Lebron's words lighting a fire under their feet, Team USA flew out out of the gates and took a 15 point lead into the 4th. They cruised from there as everyone got to get good playing time.

                              Team USA Key Players

                              L. James: 28 pts, 3 reb, 6 ast
                              K. Bryant: 16 pts, 2 ast
                              C. Anthony: 14 pts, 4 ast
                              C. Bosh: 12 pts, 5 ast
                              D. Wade: 10 pts, 4 ast
                              D. Howard: 7 pts, 6 reb, 5 blk

Coach K's Comments: Gilbert Arenas played well enough against us to earn a tryout. However we have decided not to give it to him because he cursed me off when I tried to congratulate him. Anyway, everyone but Prince played well today and Prince was the only guy who looked like he might lose his roster spot. Hopefully he will show me something in our next game... if not this might be the end for him.
